This was helpful and made sense :) I've been using mindfulness, learned some techniques from the book "30 Days to Reduce Anxiety" by Harper Daniels, which I recommend. It helps calm my mind and detach from anxious thoughts that are merely...thoughts. It's a balance between confronting the thoughts with silence and observation and practicing techniques to calm the body.
Ha it's funny to see this now. I tried something like this with my wife the other day. I asked her if she wanted to put her anxiety in a jar and set it aside for later so she could concentrate. I gave her an empty jar. She screamed into it, closed it really fast, set it aside, and got to work.
When i did my counselling course we always had to ground ourselves after... Putting our feet firmly on the ground taking objects around us in and even thinking about what we were going to have for dinner later.. Silly but it did help after an emotionally intensive day.
