@@Fisher1903 Are you kidding me? I own 3 850s right now. I bought a 300hp 850R for 1k. My friends built a 425 whp 98 s70 (same shit) manual for under 5k. Yes the price goes up as you make more power but you could get an s60r block stroked and bored out, built internals, big injectors, big turbo build and get it tuned for less than 6k and make 600hp with ease. Fwd so tranny and axles are easy and cheap. For 12k I could make 700hp out of my 1k R.

The aw50-42 can barely handle a mild tune. He's either running a sequential or some form of built transmission. I don't know, but it's no $1000 job.

nice vid. I got the about the same setup on my '97 850r minus the side exhaust. 19t turbo. blue injectors, 3" exhaust. And the best part is the swedish made Daniel "genuis" chip. I get 30 mpg for gosh sakes on a trip. then can run 18psi all day. These things seem to hold true for this car. It outruns known muscle cars. And can do it on a 200k driveline thats kept greased up and cleaned up by yours truly. Enjoy swedish engineering sneering.
@@ogfromutube9649 I second this mine does this as well and I think the meth injection is why not many Volvo guys do it but this car had it and so does mine and I regularly get low 30s.. exhaust pressure should also have alot to do with it I had a 20g on the car now going bigger. But stock turbo and no water/meth mid 20s is as good as it gets

The only Reason the Volvo won is bcuz the Supra Can't Launch in the Start Like the Volvo. The Supra Burns Rubber from the start and you Seconds and Ft Distance while the Volvo catches you from the Dig. Now the Supra has to Play Catch up. With a High Power Supra you need a Good Tune,Computer Management and Great Slicks to come out of the Dig on top.
Just because you have high hp doesn’t mean it is an efficient engine that actually utilizes the power well when going through the rpms, it may have a very small power band, the car could also have just had a problem.
It's based on looking from the start to the finish. You can also see the lights flashing on first to the right side, indicating the Supra running over the line first. It's funny to me how this video and comment section is raving about the Volvo's performance. It's alright, but Supra clearly had some issues with the launch. PS. I'm a happy Volvo owner.

@@gockartzz8272 Generally you would want to upgrade internals in the N 5 cylinder around the 300 mark. The RN 5 cylinder from the R models could probably withstand 500 easy if you can get passed the cylinder walls cracking. Either way, the Volvo 5 cylinder is a well built engine.

You have to look at the time slip. A 700hp Supra with the right tires should be able to cut a 1.7 60', here he could only muster a 2.5 with his street tires. Second, he is doing 96mph by the 1/8 mile, and gains 31mph to cross the finish in the 1/4 at 127mph, which makes the Supra a back half monster. Trap speed is also a dead giveaway.
No it isn't as fast as a DSG, but it's still embarrassing to be in a supposedly fast Supra an be beaten by a FWD Volvo sedan, the fact its an auto (i.e grandads car) just adds to it.

I get 30mpg on highway with a 20psi tune. Stay out of throttle all day long. Just did 200 mile trip today avg 31.3mpg

the stock auto trans can handle around 300-400 reliably without mods, his is definitely custom
