+Crosby4hyg Isnt it normal that food like McDonald taste good ? How could it become a global brand otherwise ? The problem is they use methods that would be considered unhealthy to make their food taste good.
aclock2 McDonalds became a global brand because they had cheap, easily accessible food that was quick to order, quick to eat and didn't taste awful. Perfect for the overworked, low-wage American in a hurry. I personally think it's a stretch to say that the success of McDonalds is exclusively due to their food tasting good, and is more due to the fact that they know how to appeal to a very large demographic of people.
Crosby4hyg It might not be the sole reason but definitely the one of the biggest reason. There are many brands of fast food out there but McDonald is by far the most successful even in cultures that don't favor Hamburger. They cant possibly achieve it with just half decent foods.
People will automatically recognize in their head that because it's fast food, it must taste bad, but if you give them it but say it's "organic", it suddenly tastes so "rich"
Exactly, it's presented as being higher quality. Humans are suggestible, which in turn alters reaction to stimuli. The food, taste being the stimulus in this scenario, will seem to have increased in quality in a subjective sense. So yeah, this is filmed purposefully to make food critics look like fools, which is a shitty thing to do.
Christian Burroughs well then they aren't experts then. Like those artist lovers trying to 'understand' and 'feel' the art. A bunch of bullcrap. A prankster put glasses on the floor in art exhibit and the idiots fell for it.
Organic isn't inherently healthier. However, in most cases, buying the organic version/variety means avoiding the preservatives that would otherwise be consumed. Hence, buying organic is *typically* healthier. Cost-effective? No. Better for the environment? Eh. Debatable. But, nonetheless, healthier because you avoid any additives, etc.
+lakshen47 Right... they aren't 15-year old girls running around gossiping. They're not gonna run around this huge convention informing strangers about this completely unimportant test. More likely they'll just have a giggle and proceed with their day as usual.
willzyx People that come to this sort of thing, especially in such a small country as the Netherlands, they often know a lot of other people there. (I know because I'm from an equally small country). And if they were tricked into eating something that they might have strong moral objections to (fx. just the fact that they thought it was organic), they talk.
MickyD's burgers are tasty but definitely unhealthy. So of course if you tell people it's a healthy organic option they will like it, it's not hard to make food taste great if you just add enough fat and salt.
Burgers in general are unhealthy. The only reason people associate fast food with unhealthy living is because of how convenient and quick one can acquire said unhealthy food. The food itself isn't the problem.
Alex Lee My god, do you always just spout nonsense without reading up the facts? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meat#Nutritional_information 30% Fat isn't uncommon for the fatty cuts of meat. Or ground meat.
Yes but.... spend enough time asking people stuff, and you'll get any answer you want, even in some kind of food convention, but still, those people are ridiculous !
Are they ridiculous? Or are they just actually judging the food by the taste instead of pretending it dsnt taste good because thinking mcdonalds is gross is the trendy cool thing to do?
DebonairDinosaur Fair point. But I KNOW I would recognize a Mcdonald's chicken nuggets for example, so when the guys ask people to compare it to Mcdonalads, that should be the moment when they get the joke. If not, they're ridiculous :)
You know it's Dutch when it usually goes like this. I think it's German. Oh wait. What the fuck was that word? Was that French? Can't be! They were just speaking German! Ohhhhh I know what's going on. It's those super tall cheese loving Dutch with their language antics again.
actually to clarify that, in the USA if a product says "all natural" there is actually nothing the company had to do to be able to label it as "all natural". everything is "natural". But if a product in the USA has the "USDA organic stamp" that means the company had to pay for annual certification and get inspected and follow a thousand regulations and guidelines for organic production.
you can always check on the label the additives it lists, its by law that they must show all the ingredients, so you can tell, without labels is another story.
Well Dutch is actually a mix of German and French (English is pretty close to both languages so I see how it could be incorporated into the language) so I get why it was hard to understand. I'm German but don't know how to speak the language and I speak half 3/4 French so this was def hard to understand
Don't worry ben saf is just fat so that is why he considers himself a food expert. Gordon was born in Scotland so that doesn't surprise me. Just kidding but in all seriousness gordon gets paid well to visit chains. I still believe he would honestly recommend some specific locations of those chains though. Gordon is making his chain as we speak. Hell's kitchen will be huge in thirty years. Best bang for your buck on the planet.
Ah hoc argument. Here is what we call the "No true Scotsman" Fallacy. Enjoy. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_true_Scotsman
8 лет назад+107
+Vincent If one claims he gave something to food experts and gives it to random people, it sounds like bullshit. That has nothing to do with the true scotsman fallacy and your comparison is best described as a straw man fallacy.
Pavel Šimerda You're right, it's not a true scotsman fallacy 'cause he didn't say that "the experts are no true experts". My bad. But it still sounds like an ad hoc argument (even if we could discuss it, and it would probably not be very interesting anyway...). People who disagree with the claims of this video could say one relevant thing that would close all debates (instead of making random assumptions): We have no description of the protocole, and no statistics of the result, therefore we have no reason to believe it.
Well, I for one, am glad all you guys know of all the 'food experts' that were there and could tell that they were not in this video buy a short clip. Thanks for ruling out that any food experts were ever in this video.
The reason you shouldn't eat at MacDonalds is not only taste and health. Once a corporation reaches this astronomical size, they have gained way too much political power. And since their goal is profit maximization only, their negative societal and environmental impact is way too immense. If you like junk food (and i do), eat somewhere local instead. There are (still) plenty of options.
De point is that all these health experts and culinary expert's, who constantly bash Mcd, and try not to admit it taste good, are doing the opposite in this video! Proving that it's not Mcdonald's food they hate, it's just mcdonal's itself
How to be a food expert: a) Chew like a posh prick b) Nod your head c) Rub your fingers close to your face d) Talk pretentious crap Congratulations.. you are now a food "expert"
Just going to go off context and talk about how beautiful the Dutch language is. It sounds like English at times, but also has those hints of German, just awesome.
I'm suprised to hear that! I don't think I've ever heard someone say such a thing. Personally I think our language's pretty ugly and do my best to avoid it, lol.
@@colorbar.s lol, I feel comfort in the Germanic languages. Dutch, German, the Nordic tongues, they sound beautiful to me. My native language is English, and it's okay, but those languages are just rad.
Sally Yllas thank you for pointing out all the mistakes I have been making. I shouldn't expect people to at least try on their own to see if subtitles were available. People can do as they please and complain.
joels341 Bruh Those subtitles would only work in 2 cases - 1st like if they are speaking english then only english subtitles would show up // 2 nd They manual put the subtitles in the cc for translation cause youtube doesn't give "cc" from dutch to english; the uploader has to do it
Eléonore Jourdan I think probably both... Some had tags and looked like they were serious, while others looked like people cluelessly wandering around a food show.
Baron Von Grijffenbourg Yeah, the food is mass produced and shipped everywhere, it doesn't change during the cooking, if it isnt burnt or something like that. And i am not american, i am finnish and here every MD i've visited has always had the food being dry, tasteless and all in all sub par.
No shame in admitting McDonald's is fucking delicious guys. I'd rather have a burger that's been through countless rounds of product testing and development for optimum customer satisfaction than a random burger with an organic label on it haha
David Sarif you do realise that 'organic food' refers to produce grown without exposure to synthetic chemicals, radiation or BMOs that meet DoA standards, and does *not* mean food that originates from an organism, right?
You need to have your food product tested? I think I'll take my mom's cooking that took generations of my family to develop than to have McDonald's democratically and scientifically created burger that's only been around for roughly 60 years. And where is the fun in eating the same processed food that's made to taste exactly the same wherever you buy it? Isn't far more interested to take a trek around your town or a city and find some hole in the wall with a chef with fresh ideas and bone to pick with the establishment? Well fine, you can eat all your boring McDonald's food. I'll sit in my "ivory tower" and enjoy the new experiences my tastebuds will get.
I don't think these are "food critics" or food expert like the video title claim, they seems to be normal convention goes, and this particular one is an "organic" food convention, which is proven to be easily deceive by videos similar to this one.
There is a reason McDonalds and BK are two of the largest and most successful fast food restaurants in the world - and it's not because they `taste like shit`. Nor is their success based on cost alone (a large 1,000Kcal meal at BK or McD actually costs around £10). People are so funny. A lot of people will slag them off just because they think it's `bad food` because that is the current perception of such food. You can eat just as `unhealthily` at an extortionately expensive restaurant. I rarely eat at either, and much prefer to cook all of my own meals from scratch - but have no issue with fast food. Some people need to get over themselves a bit.
mcdonalds does taste like shit though, the only good things from there are icecream/mcflurries and their fries. The burgers and entrees are all crap compared to a real restraunt/ burger joint like inn out
Nah dude, shit tastes like shit. Macdonalds tastes pretty good. Its has all the shit that your body craves but shouldnt have alot of aka we evolved to like macdonalds.
I knew you didn't live in the US by your comment then I looked at the money sign, and now it's confirmed. The McDonald's in America is different from overseas. Trust me it's shit over here, and they put in bullshit to cut costs here.
Food experts my a**... I bet we will get the same results if we get a painting done by a child and informed "the art experts" this is done by Picasso or any other famous painter.. smh
this was already done using a chimpanzee names Peter alias Brassau with experts claiming things like - "Brassau paints with powerful strokes, but also with clear determination. His brush strokes twist with furious fastidiousness. Pierre is an artist who performs with the delicacy of a ballet dancer."
Alex The Kaiser I've seen it, it's hysterical! You should see the looks on the "experts" faces, priceless! 😉 My former girlfriend used to say... Is it really art, or does it just match the couch?! lol
Just goes to show that your perception of food and bias towards where it comes from goes a long way towards your taste perception and ultimately can make you look like a bit of a bellend.
It’s not that those are not experts guys... Who ever said that McDonald’s food tastes bad? NO ONE. Ina bling test 99.99% of you would say the same thing. You cannot distinguish a healthy food only from taste EVERY TIME.
This reminds me of this art professor. On his final he gives a modern art piece for the students to analyze. They all give really eloquent and deep answers. Then after the test he reveals that it was really just a close up shot of his apron and the paint that had splattered on it over the years.
Sean OBrien they didn't look like food experts at all, just convention goers. I thought they would be asking food critics, chefs, nutritionists or someone like that
Hadou Can food expert are generally food/restaurant critics/vloggers. as for your statement, you are htpocritical in your own comment because if you look at the video, most of them are either convention goers or volunteers or employees of a certain restaurant or brand. basically this video is stupid af
"Food Experts" are always full of shit. You could feed them literal shit and say it's an organic chocolate paste, and they'll go on a spiel on how invigorating the texture is to the tongue, or something like that.
Rei Tachibana that's not true, those were not fucking experts, those are people who like to stuff themselves with anything... No high level chef or real food expert wouldn't notice that it's McDonald
"For context, this channel is an advertising channel. They were paid by McDonald's to make this 'social advertising' video. This is readily available information on their website. That said, it's still interesting to see that some people will automatically think something tastes better if it is presented in the right context."
where did you read that? I cannot find that statement anywhere. Maybe Iam blind. But Iam curious, cause I think when you get paid to do stuff like this from a company, making it a ad basically, you need to state that openly
Dave Kent I've eaten it for over a decade. Still good. And "compared to others"? I actually find Mcdonalds to be better or at least equal to other places. It's not like other fast food restaurants are known for their quality.
cJinL As someone who has been brought up on restaurant quality food (my mother has food training and was a senior food science lecturer for 12 years), I can assure you that while fast food may taste good, it has nothing on homemade or proper restaurant food. Most homemade food actually costs less than Maccas and I think that it is better, so I am not judging it by it's price, rather that it is actually good.
Let's get one thing straight here, those weren't "food experts", like tasting judges or anything like that. This is just a food convention where regular people like you and me attend. Just like any other convention, a comic book/sci-fi convention, gaming convention. And like regular people, they just seen two guys handing out free samples, take it and eat it and nod in agreement to whatever the heck they're saying, while grabbing more free samples.
The OP could have posted the comment in his native language, German. The two are similar and it's obvious by that phrase. If he said "1:42 It's Tasty" nobody would care. But everybody thinks they are so cool because they read other comments clarifying the speaker is Dutch that they gotta tell everybody.
For context, this channel is an advertising channel. They were paid by McDonald's to make this 'social advertising' video. This is readily available information on their website. That said, it's still interesting to see that some people will automatically think something tastes better if it is presented in the right context.
They're not explicitly selling anything or encouraging you to buy anything; they're implicitly saying that McDonald's food is not that much different from high-end organic food.
Avery Lemons I don't think people say McDonald's is bad because of the taste... they pump it full of "flavonoids" for it to taste good that's the point. It's bad because it's so processed it's not even real food anymore and it's terrible for you.
Ladies and gentlemen, they just taught everyone an important life lesson, presentation is everything. Including dating, getting a job, running a successful business.
It's called confirmation bias. Once you get enough people who agree on something in one place, you can trick that bias. Giving them something that tastes good, and lying to meet their bias, you could feed them a grilled steak and call it vegan.

Why did you not film people's reactions when they find out what the actual product is? Feels like half work this way.
Because then people wouldn't be okay with filming it anymore.
Without their reactions it's still showing their lack of 'expertise'. Adding reactions wouldn't make it any worse
Because if they told the first person, the rumor would spread and the joke would quickly be ruined....
This is actually true of all organic food. It largely depends on the grower's word, since it is practically indistinguishable from regular products.
i like to see how "golden ramsay"will say haha.

That would make it a dang good steak...
Alex Lee it's 80/20 actually and stakes have marbled bits in them that contain fat btw

Yes but.... spend enough time asking people stuff, and you'll get any answer you want, even in some kind of food convention, but still, those people are ridiculous !

Behold the power of marketing! Saying things are "organic" or "all natural" is meaningless yet super effective at increasing sales.
Gotta Catch 'Em All?
Sales AND prices ;)
actually to clarify that, in the USA if a product says "all natural" there is actually nothing the company had to do to be able to label it as "all natural". everything is "natural".
Lol actually they are not wrong.. all things are Natural.. food comes from Nature... so it's Natural as well.. even toxic waste is Natural...
Im a food expert, im really good in eating food...

Im the greatest food expert, and the greatest cook, everything i make i like.
I can speak German and English so my brain is freaking the fuck out trying to mix both of them together to create Dutch
Nootella did it work out?
Nah everytime I listen to it, my brain gets confused :')
Yes me too. It feels strangely familiar but my brain is self-destructing.
Well Dutch is actually a mix of German and French (English is pretty close to both languages so I see how it could be incorporated into the language) so I get why it was hard to understand. I'm German but don't know how to speak the language and I speak half 3/4 French so this was def hard to understand
Ahaha I feel ya! There's this photo on the internet of a Dutch customer service tag that said "hoe kan ik u helpen?" And I was dying laughing
Would've been nice to see the reaction if they told them it was actually McDonalds at the end

Siren Network same here
thats why you are not a food expert
Ben Saf you say that but then you go see Gordon Ramsey getting burgers and shit at chain restaurants all the time.

Well, none food experts. Only random people visiting the expo.
Ah hoc argument. Here is what we call the "No true Scotsman" Fallacy. Enjoy.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_true_Scotsman
Petra Darklander So what?
"Food experts"? You asked any random person you saw. Can I be considered a food expert since I eat food too?

too bad they didnt reveal that the food was McDonald's to the "food experts" the look on their faces would have been hilarious
food experts are just regular food eaters lmao
Meh, the title is misleading. These people don't look like food experts.. just random people at a food convention.

most of them are likely in marketing or they're business managers etc...
they are random people who walk around on a food faire
Bart Bavel you need to actually register and pay to get in
yes and? its free food. i have been to one with school and i am no food expert
So what you're saying right now is, don't eat at mcdonalds?
LOL. You watch too many Hollywood movies son.
glanemann Nope. This is real. Son.
Dreyskull Yup :)
jammadamma Cant stop not going to the mcdonalds its too delicious.

No shame in admitting McDonald's is fucking delicious guys. I'd rather have a burger that's been through countless rounds of product testing and development for optimum customer satisfaction than a random burger with an organic label on it haha
I admit. I never liked organic labeled stuff anyway.
David Sarif Thats impossible.
David Sarif you do realise that 'organic food' refers to produce grown without exposure to synthetic chemicals, radiation or BMOs that meet DoA standards, and does *not* mean food that originates from an organism, right?
David Sarif you're not catching my point

I think Mcdonald's Chicken nuggets taste like fish fingers.
I know right?
mcdonalds does taste like shit though, the only good things from there are icecream/mcflurries and their fries. The burgers and entrees are all crap compared to a real restraunt/ burger joint like inn out

where did you read that? I cannot find that statement anywhere. Maybe Iam blind. But Iam curious, cause I think when you get paid to do stuff like this from a company, making it a ad basically, you need to state that openly
if you eat enough mcdonalds you won't find it delicious anymore. it's quite a bad fast food compared to others

They're not explicitly selling anything or encouraging you to buy anything; they're implicitly saying that McDonald's food is not that much different from high-end organic food.
