I have been troubled with this for weeks, you solved it within 25 minutes of watching, listening and application of your tutorial. Thank you for allowing me to move forward and not throw my other microphone out the window!
I'm glad this helped.
Can you make same tutorial in audacity please?
I appreciate the detailed info and your time to make this video.
You're very welcome, Guy!
The solution sounds great and useful.Awesome video.
WOW...glad I found your video. This is EXACTLY what i'm trying to do. Thank you! SUBBED
I really enjoyed the new blue yeti microphone and I like singing.
Exactly what I'm looking for, got an interview coming up next month, thanks Shanman
Haiz Sokhini I'm glad this helps!
Hello. I’m looking to get into recording audio, and I was wondering if you could record 4-6 USB mics at the same time? If you have any help and/or tips, that’d be greatly appreciated.
I have 2 yeti usd mics and is having trouble with Audacity and Voice Meeter ...
I was hoping this would help with my issue with two rodes not recognizing in the aggregate but it didn't
Thank you so much!
You're welcome, Laine! Let me know if you have any questions!
Great info
Thanks Alex!! I hope all is well.
Hello Shannon, thanks for your video.
I have two Blue Yetis (USB), and I want to know if there is any possibilities to monitor the sound of the two microphones with two pair of headphones? (using the mic one or the mic two, I want the sound of both will come out in two pairs of headphones). Do you know if its possible?
Hi Luis. Thank you for watching.
In this particular instance of this setup, I don't believe it's possible at all. If you need to monitor the sound of both microphones, you would need to upgrade into a mixing board to do that.
I realize this setup is an affordable option for podcasters, but it's not the ideal setup. It's more headache than anything, but I understand why people would want to use it. I'm sorry I can't give you the answer you're looking for. I hope this helps.
Hi Shannon could I use two shure motiv51 mics into my iMac when doing a music lesson on zoom one for vocal and one for guitar amp. thanks.
I'm sure you could if it's still a USB microphone. I'm not familiar with that microphone, but I would imagine if it operates like a Blue Yeti it would work in the similar fashion. Again, this setup isn't the most ideal. The most ideal would be a USB mixing board like the Yamaha MG10XU where you could plug in multiple inputs to have a seamless sound. But I also understand that there are quite a few people out there that don't want to go that far.
My final word? A Shure MV5 should work on an iMac with this setup, but I can't guarantee it.
HI I am using a macbook pro and set up the aggregate as instructed but can't make it work with both in Audacity. Any thoughts? Which every mic is listed first on the aggregate list records most clearly.
Hi there! :) Hmmm, I'm not sure, but you might have to change the input in Audacity to that aggregate device. It should be in a similar fashion as you would see in Audition. I'll play with it and see if I can come up with a solution--although Audacity is not my strongest application.
@@ShannonHernandez Thanks! I did change it to an aggregate device in the audacity settings. Any help would be great!
Honestly, I am a bit at a loss with this. I do know that when I ran this test to record the audio, the mic did pick up the aggregate device, but my Mac started to act strange. I'm not sure if it's because the sound card isn't great or if my system could handle the usage. I do realize people are on a budget and can't afford things like a mixing board, but this would eliminate 99% of the problems that people have with this setup. If you can, I would recommend looking at my Essential Equipment Guide on my site and get into that particular board because you'll have a ton more versatility than spending valuable time trying to get the mics to work on your mac with this setup.
I can use two of the same mics right? like 2 blue yetis? I hear some people advising to use different mics but whats the catch on that?
It’s possibly to determine which which microphones are connected. If you have two of the same microphones connected and one is t working, you may have a harder time identifying the issue. I think there is a way to rename the microphones on a PC but I cant remember how.
Currently trying to use two Mics on my iPhone. Are there Double USB3 adapters?
I don't think so. If there are I've not heard about them.
I may be dum, but is it possible to use more than two mics?
Niko Kanervo it's possible if you had a USB hub, I suppose but this will overload your system probably. I'd assume you'd experience crashes while recording.
Just what i was wondering today! We restarted our podcast (the first episode was back in 2005!), and i am using my Blue Yeti in omni or bidirectional mode, but i was thinking that we need at least another mic. The questions are: Can i use this solution for 3 or 4 mics? and this solution applies also to Windows ? Thank you and great channel!
Sorry I haven't gotten back. I have been hit with seasonal allergies and they have had me down for the count the past 3 days. Thanks for commenting! To answer your question, I believe you can use it for 3 or 4 mics if you have the USB hub to connect the microphones. It might be asking your computer to do a lot of work, but it is certainly doable. I can't be for certain what kind of outcome you will get, but based on this setup, it seems like it is doable. Let me know if it works out for you! Thanks for watching the channel!
hi can i plug 2 mics sm58 on my phone ? okay thanks
It's not possible. It's too much power to actually send to the mics. You need phantom power in order to operate those mics. Your phone is not a reliable source of power.
@@ShannonHernandezokay thanks
My setup is ready and good to go. Both mics work and are recording, but is there a way for me to be able to hear the audio from both microphones?
Hi Gabe! Thanks for watching the video. Unfortunately there isn't a "return" when you are plugging two usb mics into one computer. In order to accomplish this, you need to have a mixing board to hear a return on your headphones. It's just part of the limitation of doing it this way.
Thanks, Shannon! Do you happen to have a mixing board you would recommend for two USB mics on one computer? Sorry, I’m just such an amateur when it comes to this stuff lol.
I appreciate your help!
@@gabek4361 did you find a solution?
buzzbikegear - MOTOVLOGS unfortunately no :(
My issue is recording with 2 USB mics of the same brand.. do you have a solution for that? I read that I would have to send one in to have it reprogrammed.. is there a work around for that though? Thanks in advance.
I appreciate your time & reply as always ! Thank you in advance 🙏🏽
I deleted my previous comment because I realized that I am recording with the same brand of microphones, but I get what you are saying. You mean recording with the same model, if I assume right. This is what you're getting at, right?
Shannon Hernandez lol I should have worded that better. Yes.. the same exact model.. where as when they are plugged up the Mac reads the same exact thing.
I used to have two Blue Yetis then got rid of one because I really didn't need two since Iw as working off a mixing board. I believe we have one at work that I can test out tonight, but just thinking about it, it does make sense since it's basically a duplicate copy of another mic. I can't be for sure, though. I can still test it out and let you know. I probably won't make a video about it, but I'll post my answer here. :)
Shannon Hernandez thank you !
Love this bro...quick question tho. Can I live stream with 2 Yeti's? My Wife and do a LIVE show and I want to control each of our voices separately. We love the Blue Yeti and I was thinking of picking up another one. Just not sure how to get them both into my Mac and broadcast them Live? Any thoughts?
Hi Glenn! I'm glad this video has helped out. I had to sit on this question and think about it. After thinking about this deeper, I know that you can go into your Mac and assign the mics so that it can record into the computer. My thought process is that if you assign a new input with two USB mics like the Yeti, you should be able to get the option for the input when you record your live feed. Typically something like Facebook will ask you which mic to use, so you should be able to go into the microphone settings and assign the input as the mics you assigned to the mac (as referenced in this video).
If that doesn't work, the only other option is to buy a mixing board with condenser or dynamic microphones. This way you can control her voice through the mixing board. It will cost a little money, but you don't have to worry about fussing with your Mac or worry about it crashing in the middle of a live broadcast. If you want a recommendation as to which board you should get, I have an Essential Equipment guide on my website at www.theshanman.com.
Does this help out?
I’ll definitely try this... really appreciate the response! #WeAllNeedSomeHelp 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿
You got it, my brother!! Let me know the outcome because I'd be interested myself! 🙏🏼
Glenn P. Brooks Jr. did it work?
Thanks for the help. Exactly what I needed. I will be reconsidering using 2 USB mics though because the bleed over does sound like it can cause extra editing time.....
Yeah, it's more of a pain than anything else. If you're trying to do it on the cheap, you might consider using Soundtrap. They have a section in their service that allows you to record two people in separate locations.
Shannon Hernandez that’s good to know also, thanks! I was planning to use the 2 USB mics when I have interviews outside of the studio. In person. I’m going to try it tomorrow and see how long my edit time is. If it’s too excessive I’ll have to just use my Audio set up
Let me know how it worked out!
It actually wasn’t too bad! My guest and I sat on opposite sides of the table just for a little less bleed over but honestly I didn’t have to edit much at all. Very satisfied.
Great!
How do you do it on a Windows computer. Thats the answer that nobody can give me.
Can this work on chrome os?!
I don't believe that it will.
@@ShannonHernandez dam, Ok thanks dude
If you have 2 mics. Are you going to hear both mics during the monitoring?
+Rambell Rodriguez no you cannot. This can only be done if you upgrade to a mixing board with analog mics.
@@ShannonHernandez you can only hear your mic on your direct monitoring in you usb mic right? Thanks
Yeah, that’s the bummer about this setup. It’s more frustrating than anything. It’s doable but you’ll waste more time trying to figure it out than actually podcasting.
How about in windows?...
You should be able to accomplish the same thing in Windows, but I know that it's hard on most processors.
