Thank you so much for this Pat! Super helpful. My husband and I are just launching our 2-person relationship podcast and didn't want to buy more audio equipment until we see traction with the podcast, and we didn't want to record in separate rooms with our USB mics. This video was EXACTLY what we needed!
We have been suffering with one mic not being able to afford a mixer. We have all the software and hardware listed in this video. It makes so much sense. Can't wait to do. Many Thanks for the help
Thanks for the awesome video! me and my friend have been dying to start a podcast and have been disheartened by all the advice needing to buy really expensive equipment. looks like we'll be able to make one after all. 👍🏻
Thank you so much!! Watched 4 other videos and couldnt get it, almost gave up on recording but then stumbled upon your video. Well detailed and well explained. Thumbs up!
This worked great for me. Using two lavalier mics and at that they are TTRS and I used a USB adapter to a USB hub on my macbook. Recorded our first podcast and it worked great!
This is way cool! It is a bit complicated, but your instructions were very clear, and the cost is really minimal (except for the mics). I already have a Zoom H5 for a portable solution that also provides a better preamp. Then for more professional use I use a Zoom F4, which has even more inputs and even better preamp. Rock on, and thanks for all you do!!
I'm using Monterey and Garage Band is now alien. Nothing like the info you've provided. Another great learning curve. Thank you anyway nd a big shout out to Apple for shifting the furniture. Again!!
nice video and your explanation is very easy to understand. but I have some question and I hope you can help me with my problem. i use 2 same mics and tried to connect to macbook, but it only detected 1 mic. what seemed to be the problem? can we use 2 same mics and connect to macbook? or ot has to be 2 different mics? because i watched your video and i can see that you use 2 same mics and can be detedted by macbook. I hope you can help me with this. thanks.
Thanks, this is great to know. Hate to be a Rode girl but the the Rode NT-USB Mini and the Rode Connect software is the ultimate. That will cost $200 for two mics. Software is free. If you haven't invested in Mics yet check it out. Records in the software too. Sooooo easy. Also uploads straight to podcast hosts too like Buzzsprout. Software puts it in the correct format for them too. And, noise gate and other processing in it too with a simple click of the button. Sounds great. Couldn't be easier. Really worth the dough for me.
Hey pat, i was trying to do it on my macbook pro 2017 and is not working when I try to select the input it just show input 1 and cannot configure the second mic
If you're seeing this in late January 2020, my apologies if this gave you a late-night notification! Just cleaning up the RUclips channel a bit, and noticed this handy video was left, for some reason, unlisted. I made it public, but yeah - I think it may have triggered a notification. My apologies!
Glad I got the notification, Pat -- I hadn't seen this before, and it's very helpful. I usually record with a RØDECaster Pro, but sometimes only have my MacBook Pro and a couple of Samson Q2U mics, so this would work! Thank you!
Pat Flynn can you please tell me why my usb snowball and my condenser mic do not work with my windows computer together. My usb mic usually is louder and more clear why is that.
Hi. I have two microphones of the same model. Whenever I plug in the second microphone, it overlaps the first one. In my Audio Midi Setup app, it only shows one Microphone. How to solve this 😢?
So, after weeks of trying, I have concluded this doesn't work with certain mics. I use two rode podcasters, creating an aggregate does not work for them. I have used an aggregate before with a yeti and snowball, worked perfectly for months. I chose to upgrade to Podcasters, and they simply don't work. Now, when I aggregate a snowball with one podcaster it works. It seems when mics have a certain output it doesn't seem to work with other mics that have equal to or greater outputs.
Love this video. The only thing I struggle with is bleeding. Using two different styled mics on a low record level but I can never get their soundwaves to be that big without being able to pick up the other mic. Any suggestions?
Thanks so much for this, Pat. Solved my audio problem for a comedy show. Unrelated: It was a year ago this week when I was introducing you to the audience at #SMMW. Wish we were all back in San Diego
Hi, Great video. I have one quick question. Could I do the same process but use more mics? Maybe 4/5 LAV mics connected to my macbook? Just select the mics when I am making / adding my aggregate devices? Which LAV mics would be the best to plug into a mac via USB or AUDIO? I may need to interview 3/4 people at a time thats why. Thanks
In your recording SOFTWARE, you'll have to do something called turn on your MONITOR. This will then use the output set by your computer to be able to hear while recording, so then you can just set that output to your headphones.
As a career secretary, all I can focus on is how much I'd love to tackle that bulletin board. 😀 No worries, though; I did pay attention to your instruction. Thanks for posting the video. Very informative.
Thanks for answering this question because I need this for when I'm recording episodes for "The Self Defense Channel" podcasts that are launching in December 2020.
i have a question and i just don't know who else to ask. i did everything you said and my two blue yeti X mics were working great. me and my dad were recording a class lecture and right at the @ minute mark i heard a 4 second long buzz and then at exactly @ my mic cut out for the remainder of the class while my dad's worked perfectly for the entire 30 minute class. we were recording our audio into Garageband. If you could give me any guesses as to why this would happen i would be greatly in your debt. Thank you so much.
so was with you right up till the point where you deleted the one track and then added another...you went to "input 3". mine does not show that...only 1, 2, and 1 and 2....no 3. i cannot get garage band to recognize my second mic...everytime i create another input it recognizes it as the same mic. Any suggestions? Thanks :)
thank you so much for the videos. i have audio-technical AT2020+ and i wanna connect that mic to my behringer XAIR XR18 mixer. is there any recommendations? thank you
The easyest way is to use a headphones splitter (two female to one male). Something like this : www.amazon.com/Headphone-Splitter-Syncwire-Nylon-Braided-Stereo/dp/B07431YDWM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=headphones+splitter&qid=1605566560&sprefix=Headphones+spli&sr=8-1
Excellent tutorial. Can I listen to my podcast partner in addition to my own mic in my headphones without switching between tracks? It seems like I can only listen to the track that is selected.
But when I click one mic to record then try to press record for the other one. It only records 1 mic im trying to record both but I won’t let me select 2
Thank you so much! Would this set up work for recording two people (in the same room) over zoom? I will be the only one remote for our podcast so we’re trying to find the best option! Thank you so much!!
trying to follow along with similar set up, but my Mac isn't registering that there 2 mics plugged in. They're both the same mic but only the one I plug in first is registering as a device. Anyone know how I can get this to work? many thanks
Hey Pat, what if the second mic is not showing on system preferences from the beginning.... i tried but it does not show that i have 2 mics it only shows one. They both work cause i have checked them. They dont have on/off swtiches they are usb plug and go. could you help or guide me in the right direction. Thanks.
So I've set up the two Samson Wireless mics (one headset and one hand held) in the Audio Devices. However, they are not showing up as one pair in "StreamYard," like it does in Garage Band. What am I missing?
What about the situation with two sets of headphones into a Mac book to match when you have two microphones? Also, how do the Audio Technica ATR2100X-USB perform when recording two ppl sitting next to each other?
Hi, first congratulations for your tutorial, it's just perfect!, well I have a problem, I'm not able to make two microphones work on the Imac, I connect each one to USB, but following your steps I can't get both of them to be defeated!, I have I'm also going to test a notebook but I don't have a usb hub to do it, what's your tip to make a podcast with two microphones? the OBS program can I record simultaneously with two microphones? and what is the tip to maintain good audio quality? Thank you very much!
Do you have a video including headphones? I'm hooked up this way but have headphones plugged into my mic and I can hear my co-host but he can't hear me ..... any help would be great. thanks Pat
What do you recommend when inside Audio MIDI Setup I only see 1x USB Condenser Mic listed as opposed to the 2x that I have plugged into my mac laptop via a USB dock?

Pat, I went back to you after not doing interviews for a year or so. Again, very helpful.
You did this a year ago and I was still able to follow along! Wow!
This helped so much. I spent so much time trying to figure this out and all it too was this simple vid to explain. Thanks man

So happy that this was the first video that popped up when I was trying to figure out how to use two mics on my mac! Thanks man, this was great!

Very helpful ME-DIE mic tutorial. You made this look easy.
Me-Die for the win.

Pat brother THANK YOU for this video, what about with Windows and Audicity?
Hi Pat, how about for those who don't have Apple? I love your hands-on practical instructionals.
Similar problem.. do you already installed the newest os ?
Brilliant, really needed this. Been struggling with it and was considering purchasing a mixer or USB interface. Thank you!
This was so straight forward and helpful :)
Thanks, this helped a lot, I've been struggling for hours, you really saved me hundreds lol!

Hey I tried to do this but for some reason my Mac did not recognize two the microphones even though they are the same. Any suggestions?
Having this same issue as well!!
Thank you for this! I have been looking for this tutorial straight forward and to the point.

Thank You for this wonderful video, your video has really sorted out my problem , thank you
So freaking helpful! I thought i was going to have to return my usb mics and get XLR! Life saver!
Hi, how is your podcast coming along? I'm trying to figure out some stuff to get mine started. Can you help me please?

Haha, those are thank you notes from fans 😁
@@patflynn Whew! I feel better.
is there a "Windows comparable" to this setup? Will it work with Adobe Audition?
need a solution for windows too
Try using Audacity
Pat Flynn did a video for Windows on 6 October 2020. Now there is one for Mac and one for PC.

When I connect two identical USB mics to my iMac 2019 it only detects one of the mics in my MiDi setup, can someone help?
same thing for me! one mic shows 2 inputs and the other mic shows 2 outputs, and its not giving me any options to change them
I read somewhere that if the two mics are the same. ie two blue yeti's, then the mac will only recognize one. try two different brand mics
I'm having the same issue. hopefully someone can come up with a solution!
@@SpookyStregaAL he's literally using the same mic
@@y2j13 yall ever figure this out, im having the same issue
Great you’ve just explained it perfectly,i getting my second mic tomorrow
Thanks for answering this question because I need this for when I'm recording episodes for "The Self Defense Channel" podcasts that are launching in December 2020.
*Thanks for going over this Pat!* 👍
Thanks Tom! Did I see you comment on a Tesla related channel? Or was that someone else?
thanks so much for this video pat! it is so helpful, truly!
Can you make a video of how to do this with 2 XLR mics using, maybe, a PreSonus Firestudio Mobile ?
Hello, Pat, thank you for this video, have you ever tried adding three mics? Wonder if that would work with one mac.
Great video. Is there a way to create an aggregate device on a computer running windows? If so do you have video that shows how to do that?
I was wondering how to do that. Great tips.
Dude you just saved me a whole heck a lot of $$$ thank you for this tutorial!

I dont know why but only one mic is listed . Option to tick the 2nd mic not showing
Yoooo Pat Dude you are a Life Saver.
This video helped a lot. Can’t wait to give it a shot with my computer
Hey Pat do you have a video on editing separate tracks. Our podcast has 2 hosts.
You are the best! Thank you!!! Especially for all the little tricks within GarageBand 🙌
so was with you right up till the point where you deleted the one track and then added another...you went to "input 3". mine does not show that...only 1, 2, and 1 and 2....no 3. i cannot get garage band to recognize my second mic...everytime i create another input it recognizes it as the same mic. Hey Pat! How about using 2 mics that is not a USB, instead a 3.5mm? Thanks and very informative video!
Thank you! You gave the best tutorial on this issue! Would you be willing to do one with Logic Pro?
how would some one add 2 headphones??

I don’t have a Mac. Any instructions for my personal lap, windows? Can you recommend where I find it?
Pat Flynn did a video for two USB mics for Windows on 6 October 2020.
Thank you for this! Are both subjects able to monitor with Headphones as well?
Thank you so much for clarifying this. I've been trying to set this up for ages!!! 😀 Can you do this on an iPad?
When I plug my two mics in, it only shows one of them at a time, is there a way to fix that?
Thanks for this! how can we connect with guests through phone calls/skype? will you need to purchase something?
Well done! Very useful instruction.
Excellent tutorial. Can I listen to my podcast partner in addition to my own mic in my headphones without switching between tracks? It seems like I can only listen to the track that is selected.
Bruh! That’s amazing. Are you trained at speaking into a mic? Your test there sounds so much better than my best try using a yeti
But when I click one mic to record then try to press record for the other one. It only records 1 mic im trying to record both but I won’t let me select 2
yeah its crap
So effective and straight to the point. Wow, thanks!!!!
