I wish I could show you the correct way to assemble that starter, the wooden blocks made me chuckle. I saw a video the other day where the guy used zip ties. I have overhauled hundreds of that type of delco starters. Everyone has there own way. A Vice works better that a can.
You're right. We all have our own ways. The zip ties are an interesting idea. I find the can easy for turning them around. The wooden blocks are convenient and prevent damage. This way has always worked for me. Maybe one of our viewers might give your technique a try.
