Marvel 2 legitimately never gets old. I’ve been playing it for 20 fucking years and still never a dull moment and I’m always hyped when I get to play some matches. What else can you say that about? It’s up there with Chess in terms of longevity and value.

I love the entire series, and I want to love MvC2 more than I do, but it feels like the two biggest problems make it hard for me to absolutely love it: 1. It has a TON of characters, but there are a handful that are so powerful that, if you want to play anyone online, you're probably going to get your ass kicked unless you use those best characters. I love the variety of characters, but it's obvious that there are a few characters which rise to the top and there are a ton which are mediocre or just plain bad.+ 2. Continuing with the online...the people who still play it (whether on Fightcade, the various console re-releases, etc.) have been playing it since it came out and will also probably kick your ass. It's hard to find anyone in your particular skill bracket.
Although they're both authored by Capcom, they don't feature additional Capcom characters. And Yes, I'm aware that there's two hidden ones, Akuma in XMCOTA & Anita in Marvel Super Heroes (Japan only).
I agree with this ranking... Infinite is a good game but not a good MVC game... While MVC2 has variety of character and addicting soundtracks(especially select screen theme)

I think, or at to me this best one is mvc1, now mvc2 was great, and the roster is the best, but things like 3v3, the back grounds, and even though i love the music as a whole it just doesnt fit. That being said capcom vs snk 1 while had more in relation to mvc1 i liked cvs2 more than the former. I think at least to me i wanted capcom vs snk more than mvc, but im glad we got 4 fighting games under capcom vs snk games under a wide range of consoles, also i think 3 snk vs capcom card game rpg style games as well
Congrats you've taken away most of the game's access to high damage and the disparity between characters like Jill & Strider when they have to deal with Zero & Spencer killing off of any hit is even larger. Have fun.
X factor really ruined the game man, you take care of two characters but you have to worry about a mechanic that helps the opponent get a free comeback due to high damage

Honestly the list is good but i think despite not having my favorite character Venom mvc3 is my personal favorite mvc game the artstyle is beautiful and fits the characters perfectly the gameplay is very fluid and even more fast paced then the other games in the series along with that the modding scene recently has been fantastic recently adding Venom Carnage Ultron and many more as fully custom characters with brand new abilities similar to there already existing ones and new themes which is always great but Mvc2 will always be a top 3 fighting game of all time

MVC3 will always be my favorite because its the one I grew up with and feels the most polished. I think it just has the most content and just oozes with personality

MvC collection is coming which is great it has the 7 arcade games before 3 and for some reason the punisher arcade game but they want $50! The last Capcom collection was $40 and had 10 games. This only has 8 and as u said some of these are basically the same marvel superheroes vs capcom and xmvc plus most people are in it for mvc2 and mvc1. Its crazy overpriced for roms. Idk if the license was alot or they did a cashgrab. No way to buy em separately either like the arcade collection.

Most of your points are pretty good but... You said MVC2 had the best sprites and graphics of the 2D games? Nope. The sprites were terrible campared to the previous 3 vs games. They were smaller and pixilated. Also the backgrounds were boring and generic 3D instead of the far better 2D backgrounds from MVC. I have all these games on saturn and dreamcast hooked up to a sony pvm for reference. Also the music is generally considered pretty bad. There's even remix versions for it. Gamewise and roster though yes it's the best. Could have used more darkstalkers characters though. Infinite is awful though. They need to go back to 2D or at least the 3D that looks 2D like dragonball fighterz. While they're at it if they want to give us a crossover with dragonball... YES take our money!

Only low levels who base their opinions on arcade mode that's "too easy" do. And look at the top 8 of UMVC3 when it was still a main game. 8-10 characters at most with the power of X Factor. There's a difference between people playing random side tournaments and the best of the best playing to win. When they do you'll find out that UMVC3 isn't that much more balanced. If MVC2 had the smaller stage size of 3 then it would have been the more balanced game by far. That's my point
It’s an unpopular opinion but I feel that infinite has the best and most user-friendly gameplay. I love the mechanics of the two V two Drop in drop out whenever you want the auto combo is great when you’re in a bind but not over powered for spammers and it’s just so well put together. I just wish the presentation was as pretty and well thought out as MVC three.

MVC3 will always be my favorite because its the one I grew up with and feels the most polished. I think it just has the most content and just oozes with personality
X men vs street fighter its in last position???? Whatt? That game basically put the basic for all upcominf games. The characters are great selection having in mind the xmen were very popular back then. And also cant beleiev its behind marvel heroes vs street fighter.
And i can notice you put mvc2 in fist place because the quantity of characters but theres only a few good ones so i woulve put marvel vs capcom 1 in firar place.
MvC collection is coming which is great it has the 7 arcade games before 3 and for some reason the punisher arcade game but they want $50! The last Capcom collection was $40 and had 10 games. This only has 8 and as u said some of these are basically the same marvel superheroes vs capcom and xmvc plus most people are in it for mvc2 and mvc1. Its crazy overpriced for roms. Idk if the license was alot or they did a cashgrab. No way to buy em separately either like the arcade collection.

Mvc2 has pretty good balancing? Then why at every tournament people only play Magneto, storm, sentinel, Cyclops, psylocke or cable? Why they only spam assist every 2 seconds?

Most of your points are pretty good but... You said MVC2 had the best sprites and graphics of the 2D games? Nope. The sprites were terrible campared to the previous 3 vs games. They were smaller and pixilated. Also the backgrounds were boring and generic 3D instead of the far better 2D backgrounds from MVC.
I have all these games on saturn and dreamcast hooked up to a sony pvm for reference. Also the music is generally considered pretty bad. There's even remix versions for it.
Gamewise and roster though yes it's the best. Could have used more darkstalkers characters though.
Infinite is awful though. They need to go back to 2D or at least the 3D that looks 2D like dragonball fighterz. While they're at it if they want to give us a crossover with dragonball... YES take our money!

Infinite was one of my favorites…only game I played all the way through and got all the trophies. Graphics was good as well. I would love a remake.
i guess u havent lived in the 90ies...x-men vs. sf was huge at the time...and never forgotten...ofc if u cant stand the limited roster, compared to mvc2-3, u ll think its bad...but at the time was fantastic...its direct sequel was a bit too derivative, ok, but it introduced other marvel characters to the fray!

MvC2 is so overated, it is quantity over quality to be honest. At the time it was released it made me think of these PC mugen games.

But what isn't better than Infinite? mvc2 has 56 characters and nothing to show for it when you think about it. Only like 5 of those characters are popular or even even picked bc they're overpowered af. Especially Cable. It really is like playing mugen lol. The AI is trash. You could beat the game on expert in your sleep. And let's not even talk about how stoopid it is to have nothing but jazz music in a freakin fighting game 🤣. I'd even argue that marvel vs streetfighter is better than mvc2. Mvc1 is the best if you're judging a game based on the game as a whole. It's gritty, it's intense and has a great roster despite it being small
@@homeoftek5844 "Especially Cable". You do realize there are like 4 characters better than him right? And the only reason why 7 or 8 characters are picked in high level play is the fact that the playing space is too large so that fly characters dominate and only the characters that control space like Strider/Cable/Spiral can fight against them. If it was the same as MVC3 the roster diversity would be much higher

@@homeoftek5844 You were so concerned with posting an emoji that you didn't read. Cable isn't the best character in the game at all. In fact no top player thinks he is. Only low levels who base their opinions on arcade mode that's "too easy" do. And look at the top 8 of UMVC3 when it was still a main game. 8-10 characters at most with the power of X Factor. There's a difference between people playing random side tournaments and the best of the best playing to win. When they do you'll find out that UMVC3 isn't that much more balanced. If MVC2 had the smaller stage size of 3 then it would have been the more balanced game by far. That's my point
I would also put mvc 2 at the top, but I would put infinite second, the gameplay is the best, it’s just the aesthetics that suck.
It’s an unpopular opinion but I feel that infinite has the best and most user-friendly gameplay. I love the mechanics of the two V two Drop in drop out whenever you want the auto combo is great when you’re in a bind but not over powered for spammers and it’s just so well put together. I just wish the presentation was as pretty and well thought out as MVC three.
