Im playing 2 right now but I'm having way more fun than I did with 1.
It doesnt feel as clunky (though still clunky) and either it has a more developed combo system or part 1's wasnt as intuitive. Being able to switch ranged weapons om the go is nice too.
Is the hate because people cant resist shooting the guns? He mentions multiple times that dmc1 had a high skill ceiling for stylish combos, but I'm honestly having a hard time seeing it. Maybe I just didnt figure it out?

I'd put DMC3 above DMC4 since DMC3 feels more complete : you don't have to backtrack through the same levels (well you do but they are heavily modified by the tower's internal mechanisms which is a plus for the level design) and the same bosses, and the story is more satisfying, while in DMC4 Dante really feels like he's on vacation which instantly diminishes the threat that enemies are. While it is true that changing styles in DMC4 adds a lot to Dante (please Capcom include that to updates of DMC3 on modern supports), you only control Dante for a third of the game.

@@rakhoo5236 So I would Say DMC3 (Nintendo or Switch or PC version coz you can mod to switch style mid game, that influences so much the flow of combat), but excluding DMC1 and DMC2 the rest of the series have great fighting mechanics, DMC3 is the coolest, DMC4 Special Edition have more variety of characters so combat, DMC5 is the finnest

story wise I would say that dmc4 is one of the weakest, but I have a special affection for him, being able to play with lady and trish, or the whole campaign with vergil is very good, his weak point is that dante only appears playable in specific game chapters

    • @Duke_of_Lorraine
      @Duke_of_Lorraine 2 года назад +6

Simplest one first : just ignore DMC2. No story, poor gameplay. I don't even think it's referenced in DMC5 (and they did reference the anime in it)
DMC3 seems like the best choice to start, not as polished as DMC4 and especially DMC5 but it's the first with modern gameplay, plus storywise it's the first. You also have Dante starting with relatively few abilities so you feel his rise in power. Just avoid the original PS2 version unless you like insane difficulty. Starting with DMC4 and 5 would feel quartered between simple enough for beginners (Nero) to outright overwhelming with Dante, if you don't already know his styles. Fortunately the gameplay between the 3 games is very similar for each character.
Just watch a movie montage of DMC1 after DMC3 for the story (the gameplay is outright archaic).

Not that anybody asked, but here are my rankings.
    1 - Devil May Cry 5
This game is a masterpiece. Narratively, it pulls out all the stops, visually it's stunning, and gameplay wise, it does variety right, giving you three characters to play as, all of which with their own unique combat mechanics that are a blast to learn and master. The soundtrack is absolutely iconic, the mechanics so deep, absolutely bursting at the seems with content, deep cuts, and fan service, the game is absolutely massive, and I honestly would not mind if this was the final DMC game. What a note that would be to go out on.
    2 - Devil May Cry 3
This game is also a masterpiece, only not as large in scale as DMC5. The rivalry between Dante and Vergil, how their story connects to and contrasts Lady and her family, and just how everything plays out with Dante's journey through the tower is just so poetic. Even Shakespearean with the themes of legacy and revenge. Devil May Cry 3 set the bar that every other DMC game after it would seek to clear, establishing most of the major mechanics like Dante's base moveset, styles (no style switching yet) and Weapon switching, plus a kickass hard rocking soundtrack to back up the crazy action, DMC3 is a rip-roaring good time.
3 - DmC: Devil may Cry
This game holds a special seal of honor to me as it was my introduction to the series and I feel it is misunderstood and criminally under appreciated. We see a different interpretation of Dante, now born of Angel and Demon, teaming up with his brother Vergil to fight the demon hoards led by Mundus. I think Dante's arc in this game is beautiful, how he starts out as a drifter only looking out for himself, but grows to open his heart to his newfound companions and develop compassion for the humans he decides to protect, and in the end, with Vergil's betrayal, it's heartbreaking to see their positions almost completely switch. The way Kat gets through to him is sweet and brings a tear to my eye. Combat wise, this Dante plays a lot closer to Nero than he does classic Dante, with simple to grasp wide sweeping sword attacks, though brace for blasphemy here, I kinda prefer his Rebellion combos in this one. On top of that, Osiris is probably one of the best weapons in the entire series, do NOT @ me on that. The DMC games always have banging soundtracks, and this one is no exception, with dubstep boss tracks and haunting ambience by Noisia, and pumping punk rock and aggrotech battle tracks by Combichrist, DmC's soundtrack may be one of my favorites. It's actually the game that got me into Conbichrist. Saw them live and they played No Redemption and I lost my shit. The use of colors in limbo and the line delivery by the actors is spot on too, I really don't think this game is NEAR as bad as everybody says it is. Play it! It rocks!
    4 - Devil May Cry
The original Devil May Cry finds elegance in its simplicity. Its storyline is heavily inspired by the Divine Comedy and when you've read the literature, it really enriches the experience to see all the references and places it took Influence. The setting of DMC1 is especially memorable, for the castle is absolutely drenched in gotchic atmosphere. Devil May Cry 1 learns harder into its horror roots than any other game in the series, and a lot of that comes from originally being a Redident Evil game. This game is a slow burn that immerses you as you explore the castle and unlock its secrets. This is also, by far, the hardest game in the series. Enemies are incredibly aggressive, the bosses do not play around, and unlike DMC3 and onwards, Dante's moveset is far more limited, forcing you to play more strategically to overcome these herculean challenges. The best modern day comparison I can think of is the Dark Souls franchise. The satisfaction of conquering a really punishing section of this game though, especially after finishing Dante Must Die mode, let me tell ya, this game makes boys into men. Its age though is what also affects its ranking, as some of its design choices don't hold up to modern standards. For one, triangle to jump? Really? Backwards as hell. For another, a game this difficult has no business running on a lives system. The rage I felt after slogging through a ball bustingly hard Mission, only to die a few times to the boss at the end and be sent all the way back to the beginning again, needless to say I almost broke my controller more than once. That shit is unfair, and if I can give DMC2 credit for something, it at least fixed that bullshit. DMC1 is a great game though. Play it if you want a challenge.
    5 - Devil May Cry 4
This game is incomplete. For the pros, Nero is a breath of fresh air and is really quick and easy to come to grips with and stylishly slash up demons with, and the whole first half of the game is some of the best Devil May Cry you will play, culminating in the fight with Credo, one of the best boss fights in the whole series. The hints at Nero's parentage, and the player going up against Dante is a very interesting concept. But then you get to play as Dante. The pros: his moveset is entirely carried over from DMC3 and you can now switch styles on the fly, instantly making his combat far deeper than it's ever been before. The cons: his Arsenal this time around is underwhelming, with the coolest edition being Pandora. With his melee weapons, only Rebellion and the gauntlets are reliable. Luce is so niche that if you can't come to terms with it, it's a waste of a weapon slot. I would have much rathered just have his load out from DMC3 to be honest, because besides E&I and the Shotgun, what I've listed is kinda it. You get Yammato too, but it's so late in the game, and Dante isn't Vergil, so it doesn't really matter much. Oh! And the entireity of your time as him is just backtracking Nero's levels! The special edition adds Lady, Trish, and Vergil, but it doesn't make the game feel any more complete. On top of all of that, I found Sanctus to be a tad forgettable as a villain and his final boss fight kinda sucked.
    6 - Devil May Cry 2
It's DMC2. What hasn't been said? It's slow, boring, sluggish, easy, Dante's character is neutered, the writing and acting suck ass. But hey, at least the soundtrack rocks! But that's kinda the case for every DMC game.

3 > 5 > 1 > 4 > DmC > 2. But some nuance. DmC felt like a breath of fresh air after the incomplete feeling of 4 and even though 2 got horrible combat I think it got the best atmosphere. It really felt mysterieus in a way together with the OST. Also Dante's DMC 2 design is really badass. Probably my fave design of him. Why 4 so low is because Nero just felt so boring. He needed way more options something DMC 5 provided.

The only DMC I hate is DMC2. All it has that I like is: DMC2 Dante Skin, the sick music for the intro, wall running, twosome time, and Lucia(design and gameplay). DmC is pretty fun and I like the campaign overall. It maybe has a stage or two that could have been removed. DmC Dante/Vergil can do a lot of creative things in that game but Dante has too much space control. He's a Dynasty Warriors character with DMC mechanics. DMC1 feels like it has the least amount of pointless stages. I still love the impact of Dante's attacks in DMC1 and the RE influence. I do like the natural challenge to it. Regarding DMC4/SE, great characters in a shit setting to me. I do not like the DMC4 campaign at all but the characters are a damn blast.

Personally, I have to disagree with the placement of Devil May Cry 3. I would've put that game above Devil May Cry 4 (and maybe Devil May Cry 5). Part it is based on a bias, as Devil May Cry 3 is one of my favorite games of all time, but there's also some of the more minor problem I had with Devil May Cry 4 and 5. Mainly on how unbalanced it was when it came to the playable characters.
I don't have a problem with the idea of having multiple playable characters, in fact I encourage the idea, if it's done correctly. And I personally think Devil May Cry 4 and 5 didn't do it well, as all the playable characters are in the same campaign. Devil May Cry 4 has you play as Nero and Dante in the main story, of which Nero is playable for about half of the main story and then Dante being playable for the latter half. And if you include the extra gameplays, where you get to play as Vergil, Trish and Lady, then they suffer a similar problem. Vergil is the sole exception, as he was playable throughout the entirety of his campaign. But for Lady and Trish, they're essentially the Nero and Dante in their campaign.
And to make matters worse, you end up fighting almost all the bosses in this game three times. Sure, the fights are, for the most part, fun, but they do however get really tedious as you do need to fight them multiple times with very little different other than playing as a different character. Me personally, I think that a recurring boss only works if A.) they serve as the main rival towards the protagonist of the game, like how Nelo Anglo from the original Devil May Cry, (debatably) Bolverk in Devil May Cry 2, and Vergil in Devil May Cry 3. Or B.) is the main focus and is the sole main boss in the game.
Also, the backtracking. It's horrible. The entire second half of Devil May Cry 4 is essentially having Dante traverse the levels that Nero explored, except it's reversed and with minor changes. I still enjoyed the game, but I think it should've lower that Devil May Cry 3.
As for Devil May Cry 5, again my biggest complaint is the campaign and the fact that you play as three different characters: Nero, V and Dante. While I did like playing as all the characters, I hated how all three of them shared the same campaign. And because there's about 20 levels in the main campaign, this means that, no matter how you do the math, someone is gonna be underutilized. Too be fair, the developers did try to fix this problem by having several missions where you have the choice on who you want to play, of which, playing as a different character does result in different areas that can be explored. There were at least 2 or 3 missions where you have the choice to play as either Nero or V, and at least 1 mission where you can play as either Nero, V or Dante, but then that means you have to revisit those missions an additional time or 2 just to complete the main campaign.
As for the original Devil May Cry, while I can understand why it's above Devil May Cry 2, I don't think it should've been above the DmC: Devil May Cry reboot. The original Devil May Cry may be a classic game by today's standards, it still doesn't change that it didn't age very well. The gameplay was rather stiff, the multiple encounters with the same bosses, and the many difficulty spikes that plague the original game does make this game difficult to return to. Not to mention, this game doesn't give you the option on what difficulty you want to start out with, and, unless if I'm missing something, there's no way for you to go back to an easier difficulty if you find the harder modes too difficult. Meaning that if you beat the original Devil May Cry on Normal difficulty and decided to revisit the game with your saved data, you're automatically starting the game on Hard Mode. And I checked. I once clicked on New Game out of curiosity if I could play on an easier setting with most of the weapons and power-ups I acquired in one of my previous games, and it didn't work. And I couldn't even revisit older levels if I wanted to improve my overall rank. And the water levels in the game were the absolute worst, as you're swimming in a claustrophobic area in a First-Person mode, but unless you can find the Needle Gun located in the pirate ship, you cannot defend yourself from anything. I've even heard some people actually skipping the Needle Gun altogether making any level where you have to swim underwater a nightmare to traverse.
The aforementioned bosses in this game are also a problem. The first encounter with the Phantom, (of which the first encounter with the Phantom is also the game's first boss,) is a boss that WILL kick your ass on your first attempt if you're not careful. Made even worst due to the fixed camera angles. There are so many times where you're trying to reach the Phantom to deal some damage to the demonic spider, or trying to dodge his attacks, only for the camera to change positions, causing you to become disoriented and get unfairly hit by the Phantom's wide range of attacks. Plus, he then becomes a recurring enemy throughout the course of the castle segment, as he will either chase you down in long and claustrophobic corridors, or sometimes appear in larger areas acting as a miniboss.
The Griffon wasn't a bad boss, it's just trying to reach him and dealing damage that's the biggest problem. That and his electrical attacks can sometimes bum-rush you with warning thanks to the bad camera angles and several cramped areas that are seen in the large and opened areas. And the fact they you face him three times, with the fight taking place on that pirate ship arguably being the worst.
Nelo Angelo is the only boss I don't have much of a problem with. I actually didn't mind fighting him three times, as I felt that he was the main rival for Dante. Although, this may be a bit of a personal bias, since Nelo Angelo is revealed to be a brainwashed Vergil, and Vergil is one of my favorite video game rivals. The Nightmare.............. FUCK IT!!! And the fight against Mundus is a challenging final boss, but the only reason why he was a challenge was because you're given a new gameplay mechanic that was never used beforehand, and the game expects you to learn on the fly as Mundus is pelting you with laser beams, giant boulders and needle-thin lasers.
    As for my personal rank, I'd rank the Devil may Cry games as such;
    6. Devil May Cry 2 (It's a guilty pleasure, but even I admit that it's the worst in the Devil May Cry franchise.)
    5. Devil May Cry (Classic, but it hasn't aged well)
    4. DmC: Devil may Cry (Unnecessary and the characters are mostly unlikeable, but the gameplay was fun and that's all that really matters.)
    3. Devil May Cry 4 (If it wasn't for the backtracking, and if Dante and Nero had their own separate campaigns, then it would've been a lot higher.)
    2. (Take this with a grain of salt) Devil May Cry 5 (Some of the best gameplay, but again, I only wish that Nero, V and Dante had their own separate campaigns instead of being playable in one campaign)
    1. Devil May Cry 3 (Out of all the Devil May Cry games, this one I played the most. Fun gameplay, challenging, but fair, bosses, the characters are some of the best in terms memorability, Vergil is one of the best rivals in video game history, and I think Lady is the best female lead in the Devil May Cry series.)

But yeah 5 has the best dante gameplay in the series no question but nero and v don't feel nearly as interesting to play. Nero is passable though less fun than dante but v feels on par with dmc2 gameplay to me. Plus of course the story in 5 feels like a bad fan fiction

SSS: DMC 5, 3, and 1. All absolutely top notch. 5 and 3 are two of my favorite games of all time. 1 can feel a little bit clunky at times (old game and all) but that just adds to the charm and its unique atmosphere more than makes up for it.
SS: DMC 4. I otherwise love 4, but Kyrie's sucking void of a character sadly takes it down a notch. Passive doll-like waifus piss me off. Also Savior can rot in hell. Still, Nero, Dante, and everyone else are great and the story is really fun. The series needed a lighthearted breather episode before the intensity of 5 imo. Also I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who loves the dice minigames.
-D: DMC 2. Literally gave me a headache.- -Can't really say much more than that.- -At least it was pretty short and not too difficult.- EDIT: replayed 2 and honestly had a lot better time of it. I'll raise it's rank to a solid B.

3 is my favorite of all the games. Story to me felt the best out of the entire series. It was just something about that game that made the scales feel more epic. Fighting your brother and all. 3 and 4 are neck and neck to me as far as great story telling. After the third game, I have 4,5,1,2. In some ways I want to rank 1 ahead of 5, but I'll give it the bid over the very first game. 5 I did NOT enjoy the level design at all, I thought it felt very lazy. Was not much to look at in the environment like 3,4, and even 1 had. The story was mehh, until the very end. It just felt like a bunch of set pieces, moving to the next area just to fight. With no real story depth behind it until the END. Combat was the best in the series for sure. But I hated the V sections. I did not enjoy his gameplay of commanding demons to fight for him. It made me feel detached from the combat. The story as a whole, and level design was a massive let down for me in 5.

I feel like DmC Dante pales in comparison to our homeboy because the real Dante has class. He's rugged, skilled, suave, and knows how to keep his cool. DmC Dante is like what Nero started as. I swear that version of him still smells like way too much AXE body spray and whatever they sell at Hot Topic. He looks like he's trying to be Edgy, but just comes off as whiny, petulant, angry at the world for no reason, and seems like he has Linkin Park playing in his head during battle. Emo, I'm saying he looks like he's trying to be emo without any actual backing from real pain, which is dumb since he should have a lot of issues.
Our Dante takes his lumps like a champ and he knows his way around a good one liner

I'll put Dmc 3 over Dmc 4. Dmc 3 SE gave it all. The replayability and Bonus content is timeless even without the Freestyle mode and Both Vergil and Dante's mechanics are different so it provides double content. And the difficulty while really hard it's really rewarding. Dmc 4 had the problem of being Nero heavy. The enemies are designed to be fought as Nero while Dante can now freely change style, it didn't had the amount of easter like 2 player mode with doppelganger or playing as Dante and Vergil in M 19. The SE playable characters are still nice.

Weak story and the game is incredibly slow and boring. Not all the way through the third game yet but I can already tell it's probably going to be my second or third favorite. Dante looks a little weird, but I love the cheesy dialogue, love the gameplay, really enjoying the characters and story. The jester fight was super fun. But the fight that has stood out to me the most is the twins. Oh my god, not only was the fight fun, but their dynamic is hilarious. They're also really fun weapons. DmC being put as the worst over Devil May Cry 2 is laughable. So thank goodness you did it the right way. Because in my opinion, I never hated DmC and actually liked some of the ideas in it. It just sucks that the writing and character designers were a flop. But the gameplay, music and ideas for the setting are cool.
Plus, it is the game with ideas that led to Devil May Cry 5 being the best.

  • @DeChristianizePL
    @DeChristianizePL Год назад +2

Since most people have done their own ranking I will do it too.
    1. Devil May Cry 5
"Really great game, the graphics are very good, as well as the music. In my opinion, the combat system is the best of the series. The game has a lot of interesting and varied locations that fit the game's storyline. As for the storyline, it's not the best, but after all, that's not what Devil May Cry is about. Nero and Dante were great to play, unfortunately I can't say the same for V, with this character you just have to mash buttons to get SSS. V is a well-written character, but he just plays worse than the rest of the characters, he is too easy to learn. The bosses are also the best of the series."
    2. Devil May Cry
"The atmosphere of this game was simply wonderful, the music in this game was the best when it comes to ambient. The combat is not the worst, and the weapons at our disposal are interesting. However, I must say that, the combat system is only better than the second game. I must say that the island with the mysterious old castle was a great idea. Exploring this castle is interesting, it is really well done. Overall the locations in the game are great. Unfortunately, not everything is so good, the bosses are not very interesting and we have to fight them several times each, which is tiring. The camera work is the worst in the whole series, you can often die because of it, and Devil Trigger is sometimes too powerful."
    3. Devil May Cry 3
"I had a dilemma between Devil May Cry 1 and 3, but decided to rate 1 higher. 3 is a very good game, but some bad decisions were made in it. Some bosses are worse than the ones in 1 (Doppelganger, Arkham, Leviathan), the ones I listed are either too boring or too difficult. I also didn't like the part where we had to defeat a couple of bosses to move on, in my opinion it's completely unnecessary and frustrates more than it gives a demanding challenge. The worst enemies in this game are Enigma and Damned Chessmen. Enigma only irritates the player, and Chessmen is simply boring. However, the game has many more pros than cons."
    4. Devil May Cry 4
"The game is a bit unfinished, but that doesn't mean you can't have a great time playing it. We have at our disposal five characters Nero/Dante, Vergil, Lady/Trish. Each of these characters has its own abilities making it fun to repeat the game with a different character. The combat system is a tad better than that of 3. The bosses are great except Savior. The worst thing about this game is the backtracking, but you shouldn't cross this game off because of that. It's not the best Devil May Cry, but it's worth playing because it can offer many hours of enjoyable entertainment."
    5. DmC: Devil May Cry
"The game itself is good, but it is not a true Devil May Cry. For this reason, I will not comment on it."
    6. Devil May Cry 2
"The worst game of the entire series, something that should not exist. The development process of Devil May Cry 2 was terribly turbulent because of which we got underdeveloped crap. If there were no problems during its development, we could have gotten a really good sequel."
Probably a lot of people will get upset because of the fact that I rated DMC 1 higher than DMC 3, but this is my opinion, everyone has their own tastes and you should not insult someone for that. Some people have strange tastes, but this should be respected.
Thanks for reading my comment and have a great day/evening!

    1. Devil may Cry 3 (first DmC i played, and honestly one of my favorite games of all time)
    2. Devil may Cry 4 (honestly i liked it a lot. Havent finished it yet, but i like the combat and playing as vergil in the special edition is fun as fuck)
    3. Devil may Cry 5 (only played the demo but it was enough to put it in this place)
    4. DmC Devil may Cry (i think its underrated)
    5. Devil may Cry 1 (a bit too boring for me, but its still a good game)
    6. Devil may Cry 2 (its DmC 2. What else do i need to say)

The moment You Put Dmc 4 above 5 I already understand your Ranking is a joke...dmc 4 is really incomplete to say The Characters look ugly(expect vergil) some favourite combats And Mechanicals got removed the story was Like Neros Saving his gf ..Dmc 5 Made back The Best Combats From Old Games Having Best Gameplay wise and Characters Design, movement Got Suit The game unlike 4..So By Playing Demo isn't Right To judge It..I also Rather Put Dmc 2013 Above 4

Even though the video hasn't premiered yet I'm going to straight up say DMC2 was just the worst not only that dante must die mode which was to hard in dmc 1 was like a walk in the park in dmc2 not even worth mentioning in the list it was just worst then worst lmao as my favorite would definitely be dmc3 none of the dmc can really beat that story and nostalgia of the relationship between brothers

Idc I still love 1 the atmosphere is awesome I'd be cool if 1,2, and 3 all got the remake treatment tweak the story a bit for 1 and especially 2 just leave 3 alone just improve the visuals and update the combat too 5 level of awesomeness 4 is fine as is and 5 is perfection.

DMC Reboot. Get's so much better with definitive edition. Which for some reason is only on consoles. It fixes the issue of needed to use angel or devil weapons on specific enemies making it so they just do bonus damage. This helps the flow so much better.
Also I would DMC reboot above the first game. Sure the first game has legacy but if you asked me which game I'd rather replay? DMC reboot 6/7 days of the week.

I agree that 2 is the worst, but in a mild defense of it the dodge mechanic was never more smooth. I remember doing the final boss and just dodging every attack because there was literally no pause needed between one dodge and the next. I remember doing the dash in dmc3 and stopping after the animation and just felt "3 is far too few dashes"

Agree... Devil May Cry and GenmaOnimusha (Xbox) where the bases of the next beat em up games. Even the GOW creator admited it, saying he never developed a game, but once he finished Onimusha he knew he wanted to create a game as addicting as Onimusha for the Playstation 2. Years later he gathered a team and finally developed God of war, but its fun to think that even the GoW creator/director played videogames back then.

I honestly believe that the DMC reboot doesn't deserve all the hate that it gets. Sure the characters and story are inferior versions to the original Devil May Cry, however the games combat is really well refined and I had a lot of fun with it. It's one of the best hack n slash games I've played. I think that if people actually gave it a chance and ignored the DMC name attached to it, they'd have a really enjoyable experience.

Devil May Cry 3 has this real cheap boss in an Opera House where she runs around Dante and says "give me a kiss," then she latches onto Dante and drains his health while refilling hers. That is such cheap bullshit that I had to use an Action Replay to beat her. It was either that, or have a game on my shelf that I just can't beat. I'm not embarrassed to say that I had to use an Action Replay to beat her, because that is the cheapest of cheap. I actually sent an email to Capcom about it and after their tips didn't work, I sent them an email back saying I used an Action Replay to beat her with one hit. Then I told them to quit putting cheap shit in their games like that, they said they were going to let their design team know (yeah, right) and then I just went on from there. Later on there's a cheap jumping puzzle with these cubes with a shitty camera to boot that took me an hour to get past, but I got it in the end. The game isn't really that hard, it's just full of cheap bullshit that shouldn't be in a game. A game can only be so cheap until the fun just gets sucked out of it, and Devil May Cry 3 is that game. A game shouldn't feel like a relief to beat, but DMC 3 feels like the biggest weight is lifted off your shoulders when you beat it and it shouldn't be that way. I didn't feel a sense of accomplishment when I beat it, I felt "thank goodness it's finally OVER!" The game is just not fun because it is so cheap.

Well i never played a hack&slash game before, i want to step into this world. I am confused about DMC and Final Fantasy. Are they related somehow or completely different franchises? Which one is mostly better than the other one? Do i have to play older games to understand new stories? They are unrelated, final fantasy is a RPG and on the recent titles is a action-rpg but it is not a hack&slash, DMC is a hack&slash, if you want a hack&slash pick the DMC hd collection (1° 2° and 3° DMC games) play 1 skip 2 if you want and play 3, then buy 4 and 5(chronological order is 3-1-2-4-5)

All the other Devil May cry’s I respect but DmC Devil May Cry just offers me more than what the originals offer me because most of them I couldn’t get used to it’s combat and couldn’t get into its characters or it’s comedic moments like Dante dances like Michael Jackson it just feels like it was written by a 40 year old who bases his entire personality on what he thinks people like from what he sees on the internet it’s cringe in DmCs defense I do agree it’s a blast playing the color coded enemies are not that bad you it’s easy so I don’t get what’s the problem (skill issue?) it’s mostly the first game it’s mostly meh I believe if they were to make a sequel it will be fleshed out more and I would like to see some improvements on the character side of things because I’m seeing Dante mature abit more nearing the end it’s comedic moments feel more reminiscent of that Harley Quinn show on HBO I’m sorry but to me DmC is better than all of the other games because it offers me what I want out of the devil may cry experience the originals didn’t let me 5 came close only because of Nero but most of the characters ehhh no.
