I love Rayman 3 for the amount of childhood nostalgia it carries. For some reason, the artistic choices for the maps, wacky plot, characters, and the repetitive intense music really stuck with me. I remember as a child, I used to really spend time admiring the design for the locations in the game.
Yes! The reason that Rayman holds such a special place in my heart is because it feels so unique. No other game franchise seems to come close to copying the style.
Ain't that the truth; they were _consistently_ smashing out some of the greatest platformers of all time and then they just... stopped? I still remember the hype watching the first trailer for "Rayman 4" before they turned it into a party game, and wonder how the franchise would've fared in an alternate universe where that original concept got released
Me too. And I remember that for like one year, I couldn't beat the level where you ride on the purple peach on lava. Once I beat it, I was so overwhelmed, and the finale was also nerve wrecking. All the characters had personalities and it was really enjoyable
I jst love the detail and jokes in Rayman 3. For example if you hit globox a few times he sometimes says "Quit it! The manual says you're my best friend!" I hit him on accident the first time and it came out of nowhere and I still think this is one of the funniest things in a game ever.
I love Rayman 3 so much, I probably played through it like 50 times by now. This year I finally played through Rayman 2 and as weird as it was, expecting something similar as Rayman 3, it was it's own unique experience with interesting strategies and techniques to use. Sometimes I felt like Rayman 3 improved alot on the gameplay of Rayman 2 but sometimes it also felt better than 3. As people already pointed out, it's probably dependend on what game you played first as a child.
Fun fact: Rayman Origins was actually going to be about how Rayman and his adventures came to be (his creation is even described in a guide book), but the idea was scrapped for whatever reason.
2 things worth mentioning: 1. In rayman 3, you get to ride your shoe as a race car vs the other shoe. Can't get much better than that. 2. Rayman Legends would be 10/10 just for the first music map, featuring the song Ram Jam - Black Betty, but they also put an entire video game there too, entirely for free. Now thats a bargain.
Frr bro, I've always loved that they put this song in Rayman Legends and the level was so good too. I played the demo, and this is what made me want to play the full game
You are right about Rayman 2. The oddness of that game was pretty unique. Probably only Tonic Trouble is the only similar game from the time. Wish they brought the weirdness back.
True. I heard Tonic Trouble was kind of a test for Ubisoft to see if a game like Rayman 2 would be possible. So that’s why they are so similar i guess 💪🏽
@@64-Bit-Gamer But what I'm asking was Tonic Trouble created as a tech demo for Rayman 2's engine? Like is there multiple articles online that back this claim up or did you get it from a fan wiki? I think that's probably somewhat true. 3 is my favorite, I was born 1999, 2 was my brothers favorite who was born 1992, I think whichever you played at that prime time ended up being the favorite.

you talk with sense. I love rayman legends and rayman 2. They're both great games everyone should try. Honestly I spent 50 hours by myself beating all the levels of legends, and I would say hundreds of hours playing with my cousin on his xbox. Rayman 2 feels extremely nostalgic, though legends does, too. Your ranking is totally fair. Well done, great video.
Rayman 1 is still my favourite but no doubt due to a heavy dose of nostalgia. Grew trying to beat that game with my brother and 3 sisters. we could never do it without the cheat code to face the final boss. i replayed it again when i was like 19 and completed it from start to finish. It was truly wonderful. Also has easily the best soundtrack in my opinion. but again...nostalgia
I loved it, but for arena mode. The most fun I had is weapon with timer, and create mode with only this weapon, everybody were running like crazy, trying to get away from the bomb with timer
Rayman 3 was the only Rayman game I properly played and it was awesome. It reminded me of another platformer I liked called Evil Twin: Cyprien's Chronicles. Tried playing Rayman 2 after but I couldn't get into it.
Wow the nostalgia with ray man 2!!! Just sitting here trying to remember what title that was that I played so much back then. And here it is number one on the list haha let’s go!!
Rayman 3 was my favourite! Best music, amd I love the wacky plot and dialogues throughout. As a kid and teenager, I thought it was really challenging too in a great way and it took me a long time to complete it!
Rayman 3 was the most ingaging fun and addictive game I had played as a kid. I replayed it recently on my steamdeck and boy it was better than I remembered it ~!
Always felt like Astal on the Saturn was kinda inspired by Rayman far as how the level designs were and the color patterns to a degree but it’s kinda hard to top Rayman I mean at the time the graphics were insane.
You should try Rayman 3 for the GBA if you like 2D Rayman. It's actually pretty good, though I've yet to beat it myself. And it's a completely unique game that only has a few things in common with the actual Rayman 3. Despite the name, it's more like a 2D version of Rayman 2. Also Rayman Raving Rabbids for the GBA. It’s the only RRR game that’s a traditional platformer instead of a minigame compilation, and so the only RRR that doesn’t suck.
Facts, I was about to comment this exactly. I actually just beat it last night, super fun and challenging. It feels like a direct continuation of Rayman 1. Also if you enjoyed that game you should check out Raving Rabbids on GBA! It's another 2D platformer, same mechanics as Rayman 3 GBA and pretty much entirely unrelated to the other Rabbids games
I actually prefer Origins over Legends not only due to artistic preferences but also because Origins is slightly harder than Legends. I actually felt challenged when playing Origins but Legends felt too easy. It’s as if Ubisoft nerfed Legends so that everyone can complete it. Was Origins too difficult? I don’t think so. What is it with Ubisoft, trying to replace or degrade Rayman until nothing is left? It’ll never happen as long as there are those who support the Rayman games (even mobile games)…
I like Rayman 2 and Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc is my most favorite of The Rayman Series. He needs remastered versions of his games including Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc.
Completed Rayman 2 recently on ps1,to make sure I did beat it when I was a kid, because I kept getting flashbacks of 3rd boss fight not knowing if it was a dream or a faint memory 😂
Top three and you already chose my top three favorite Raymans. I like them all for different reasons though so no real order for me. Bonus for mentioning Tropical Freeze.
Are you familiar with Rayman Gold/Rayman by his Fans? I know it's not really a "story" game and it's more of a level-pack, but it was from Ubi Soft and it actually has some mechanics unique to it that were not in the first game and kind of set it apart as its own unique thing, so I feel like it should have been mentioned - especially if the educational one was.
Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc was an absolut fantastic game and we enjoyed it on my console back then (Brother, Friends etc). The music was absolut stellar, too. Now excuse me. I have to go and race my second shoe. Bastard is on the run again! PS: I don't know how this plays out in other languages, but in german, each doctor has a very distinct and different german dialect to the others which makes the voice over just and absolute fun thing for us :D
The RL soundtrack is also _legendary._ I've transcribed quite a number of the tracks if anyone's interested in reading sheet music, especially a few piano arrangements.
Personnaly Rayman 3 is my favorite. Idk I was a kid and this game has such a big warm spot in my heart. Never played rayman 2 but I dont think it would hit the same since im an adult now. Long live Rayman 3!
I loved many rayman games as a kid but honestly that worst one was so good to me as a kid as it counted as school work when I was like 6-8 not sure how old but it was so refreshing to play a game for learning rather than game then have to study
This might be because I grew up with the Playstation version, but I'm actually surprised to see Rayman 2 first as it was my least favorite. That being said I did recently play the GOG version which really showed me what I was missing out on all these years and how dumbed down that game was on PS. That being said... still doesn't quite move it up. I realize it might be hard to do, but I recently realized how the 2D Raymans have their set of gimmicky worlds and environments like Band Land and Picture City, as well as in Origins/Legends - while the 3D ones have a more consistent nature environment. What I'd like to see is a 3D Rayman with gimmicks like the former.
games like ray man 2, the legend of zelda ocarina of time, mario 64, and aiden cronicals the first mage really blew my mind with how massive they felt even on such a limited game like the nintendo 64, which i only realized in hindsight since as a kid i was experiancing that new world of 3d for the first time, and a lot shocked me. i still remember all my firsts, my firts game ever was sonic the hedgehog 2 on sega genisus, it was like playing a cartoon. then games like mario 64 banjo kazooie and zelda on the 64 showed me the worlds id imagined up to that point but then games like star fox adventures, and fable 1, truly showed me theres no limit except time, seeing the individual blades of grass, and leaves on tress blow in the wind was eye opening to the potential of games... i knew then that there was no limit, and in the decades that followed i saw the evolution of the term photo real from a humble start with projects like the spirits within, and now every game has in game graphics surpassing that level... to the point where reality has started to pale in comparesince to the lush colorful and flawlessly detailed worlds being created with games like red dead redemption 2, and god of war ragnerock... if there is an end to gamings advancment... i dont think ill live long enough to see it!.
9:49 the game isn’t Rayman’s origin story, it’s called origins because it’s going back to 2D platformers which are the roots of the series, thus the origins
I loved original rayman on PS but my god that was the hardest game ever. I still have nightmares of that candy lane stage where the shadow is chasing you.
Completely agree on everything. Especially Legends and 2 being tied. Only difference is I would've probably put Legends above 2 even though they're tied.
Rayman 2 for sure so memorable and advanced for it’s time. Also some love for EARTHWORM JIM and Super Mario games Awesome old games nothing comes close these days.
Rayman 2 was one of my first games on ps1, I finished that game for a 100% several times and I can still dream most of the levels. Still one of the best games I ever played.
i love rayman 3d so much like it’s actually so good, it was my first rayman ever and is so funny like im actually 17 and im having fun on this game. thanks for this really good video btw
I just happened to see this video in my recommendations today. I've never played Legends, I went on Steam, snagged it for $5. I absolutely love Rayman 2 so I'm excited to play Legends.
For me (out of the ones you've mentioned) 7. Rayman Junior/Brain Games 6. Rayman M/Arena/Rush 5. Rayman Legends 4. Rayman 1 3. Rayman Origins 2. Rayman 3 1. Rayman 2 I haven't played Hoodlums' Revenge. BTW from where I'm from, Rayman 3 was so ingeniously localized, it was way more loved than in any other place in the world. Seriously the dub is way better than the English one, hence the game has way better atmosphere.
Played 1, 2, 3 and Legends: Definitive Edition. I'd probably rank them 1, Legends, 2, 3 - though all are great, I really enjoy the old school, somewhat slow, 2D platforming of the first. Though only one or two levels at a time. Playing thru 1 and 2 for the first time currently, and they're both really fun. 2 is pretty nice to just chill with after a Rayman 1-level, but it's kinda slow and kinda easy, with a pretty dull atmosphere. Still great game though. Was a while since I played 3, but I remember it having amazing parts - but the overall package wasn't that great. I probably enjoyed 3 more in short bursts on the demo discs. Legends is great, but I prefer the slower 1. It also doesn't really have many memorable stages, you just rush through them. Fun for sure anyway though. Although its really REALLY long.
Played Rayman 2 on the 64. Have to agree that it is still one of the best, as I frequently come back to play it. The atmosphere and levels are phenomenal.
Rayman 3 is my favorite. Never got into the legends games, or the 2nd game. Had the 10th anniversary edition on ps2 with M, revolution and 3. Played a ton of rayman M too.
Rayman origins wasn't a game centered around the old story, it was hunting back to its origins (2d platforming) with a bit of the old story in place along side explanation for how the characters came to be (such as Rayman having a wife and going bald before getting magical hair to which his wife wanted to shave off again)
The gbc rayman game is similar to the ps1 version however you don't need to unlock the final boss (meaning you can skip all the cages and can still finish it) however there is 1 drawback... you save with a password system. So close to beating the original, even that 3d animation at the start was impressive on a gameboy color. But that save system....
Rayman Arena was the only Rayman game i had when I was a kid and I liked it but I was also like 6 and looking back on it now, you're right what even IS this game lolol

games like ray man 2, the legend of zelda ocarina of time, mario 64, and aiden cronicals the first mage really blew my mind with how massive they felt even on such a limited game like the nintendo 64, which i only realized in hindsight since as a kid i was experiancing that new world of 3d for the first time, and a lot shocked me. i still remember all my firsts, my firts game ever was sonic the hedgehog 2 on sega genisus, it was like playing a cartoon. then games like mario 64 banjo kazooie and zelda on the 64 showed me the worlds id imagined up to that point but then games like star fox adventures, and fable 1, truly showed me theres no limit except time, seeing the individual blades of grass, and leaves on tress blow in the wind was eye opening to the potential of games... i knew then that there was no limit, and in the decades that followed i saw the evolution of the term photo real from a humble start with projects like the spirits within, and now every game has in game graphics surpassing that level... to the point where reality has started to pale in comparesince to the lush colorful and flawlessly detailed worlds being created with games like red dead redemption 2, and god of war ragnerock... if there is an end to gamings advancment... i dont think ill live long enough to see it!.
The demake for rayman area was on the gamecube. The PS2 one was the full featured one

its really rare to find someone who reviews rayman games these days, thx for this great video,
btw what do you think is the best way to play rayman 2?
Rayman Revolution for sure.
Rayman 2 was one of my first games on ps1, I finished that game for a 100% several times and I can still dream most of the levels. Still one of the best games I ever played.
I get the feels thinking about playing rayman 2 on the dreamcast when I was a kid.
My number 1 must be legends idk why I have soo much nostalgia with it and I love the dragon slayer music when he says about legends
As a kid my buddy had Rayman Arena and we had some fun with the races! But I could never see why you'd want to own that for single player
As a guy who played both 2 and 3 as a kid, I can confirm that Rayman 3 is the best game in the series
Hoodlum Havoc was a HELL of a rental from Hollywood Video
i love rayman 3d so much like it’s actually so good, it was my first rayman ever and is so funny like im actually 17 and im having fun on this game. thanks for this really good video btw
In rayman legends you could also unlock tons - TONS of characters. By far the best 2d game ever made
Wonder has some Legends vibes, this game is the goat for being so ahead of its time
My favourite is probably legends but I love origins and 3 too.
I just happened to see this video in my recommendations today. I've never played Legends, I went on Steam, snagged it for $5. I absolutely love Rayman 2 so I'm excited to play Legends.
origins and legends brought back my love for the series and legends is in my top 3 platformers
Agreed on the isometric stuff. Child me tried hard to convince myself Spyro season of ice was a good time
I tried that leaked Rayman 4 game that never released, it had some awesome ideas. A damn shame it never released.
Here's my ranking based on my knowledge:
8: Rayman Junior
7: Rayman: Hoodlum's Revenge
6: Rayman Arena
5: Rayman
4: Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc
3: Rayman 2: The Great Escape
2: Rayman Legends
1: Rayman Origins
Rayman 2 is my favourite nostalgic travel back to my childhood
Also for me, in fact I bought the whole collection on Esty to have all it on my desk 🥰
Rayman 3 GOAT🔥🔥🔥
For me (out of the ones you've mentioned)

5. Rayman Legends
4. Rayman 1
3. Rayman Origins
2. Rayman 3
1. Rayman 2
I haven't played Hoodlums' Revenge.
BTW from where I'm from, Rayman 3 was so ingeniously localized, it was way more loved than in any other place in the world. Seriously the dub is way better than the English one, hence the game has way better atmosphere.
Dubbing in R3 (Polish ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ) makes this game a masterpiece.
Prawda, polski dubbing Raymana 3 był genialny. Możnabyło się dużo pośmiać kiedy uwalniało się "Teensinów" z klatek :D
@@lutis5692 Czy sceny z doktorkami xD
@@Sebulba2000 Właśnie! Zapomniałem o tym haha Te KUUURNA, STARY! SKUBANY PODCZEPIŁ CI SIĘ POD MÓZG! No genialne
Rayman legends is 10x better then 1
I played a PS2 remake of Rayman 2 called “Rayman Revolution”, that’s my favourite one.
Rayman 2 and Legends are my favorites.
What about rayman 3 on the GBA??
I wish they would remake/remaster the original Rayman, it’s just perfection
@skankhunt4215This, I was literally researching just the other day if there was a possibility of this happening
I've only played Rayman Legends.
I really liked it, even though I haven't finished it yet.
I wouldn't mind a Rayman game collection.
Origins is a decent game, Raving Rabbids, Legends, and Origins are on sale until the 29th on Steam
Rayman origins wasn't a game centered around the old story, it was hunting back to its origins (2d platforming) with a bit of the old story in place along side explanation for how the characters came to be (such as Rayman having a wife and going bald before getting magical hair to which his wife wanted to shave off again)
finally rayman content
The gbc rayman game is similar to the ps1 version however you don't need to unlock the final boss (meaning you can skip all the cages and can still finish it) however there is 1 drawback... you save with a password system.
So close to beating the original, even that 3d animation at the start was impressive on a gameboy color. But that save system....
Rayman Arena was the only Rayman game i had when I was a kid and I liked it but I was also like 6 and looking back on it now, you're right what even IS this game lolol
