It tried to be different, still a OK game) conclusion: everyone has a reason for liking their favourite jak game and none of them are wrong because each game is different and similar in there own right. My reason for jak 2 being the best is because of it's sci fi, gta setting and surprisingly it's difficulty because it matured me as gamer and gave me a great sense of satisfaction when I completed jak 2 that the other games did not and it allowed me to have the believe to take on other more adult themed game franchises such as the devil may cry franchise that I found too hard when I was a young kid/teenager
I'm going back and playing them all, I gotta say I did and still do love 1-3 they're fantastic. I won't bother with frontier and I loved playing daxter as a kid but some of it was a hassle, will try Jak X once I 100% complete Jak 2 and 3 again
The underwater Mech suit mission in Jak 2 was the hardest to me. I almost quit because how frustrating it was. Jak and daxter is a beautiful platformer and should be remade for PS5.
Only thing with precursor legacy was how easy it was to die. Some enemies it felt impossible to defeat them without taking damage and it took so much green eco to heal.
I finished Precusor's legacy today 100% and I fully agree, these enemies with drilling machines in spider cave for example, really put my nerves up to the test. Great game tho :)
@@Pedobear0908 if you wait till they turn around and then hit them you won’t take damage. I did 100% as well and don’t think I even took 2 hits from them. Most of them come up to you before you even jump to them so once they turn just jump over and spin or a jump hit and I just did my 100% today actually lol
@@Pedobear0908 Those enemies feel super Crash Bandicoot inspired since there was a fair number of enemies in the first CB game where you just had to wait until they showed their vulnerable section. Which is kind of frustrating since CB games are typically 'keep moving or you die' kind of games.
Its hard for me to pick a favorite, and heres why. Jak and Daxter was my first PS2 game that i really fell in love with. I was 6 when i first got it, and before that i played alot of Crash Bandicoot specifically Crash 3, and when i first saw the Naughty Dog opening title i knew the 2 where connected somehow(remember i was 6...didnt understand game development). When i first got control of Jak and coule see he could Double jump, had an upgraded of Crash's spin move AND could punch, i was hooked. Then came the real surprise, the Seamless overworld. Exploring Sentinel Beach for the first time was a mind blowing experience that will always stick with me, then making it to the Forbidden Jungle and doing the Fisherman's mini game to unlock his boat to head to Misty Island was surreal. I loved the game, but the furthest i could make it on my own when i was that age was the lava tube area, always had trouble getting past those areas because the difficulty increased. So i played that for the better part of a year. Then one day when i was 8, me, my mom and her boyfriend are walking through a BlockBuster, and im walking through the games and i see it. Jak II?! You mean...like and Jak and Daxter Jak II?! So i begged my mom please let me get this please, and she agreed. We rented it, and when i put it in and saw that opening cut scene i was blown away AGAIN! Did Daxter just saw "remind me never to piss you off" and did Jak just fucking talk for the first time?! And then we go throught the tutorial and theres guys with guns?! Once we are outside, i see floating cars and what looks like motorcycles, and then some dude interrupts me and bam! There we are, fighting as dark Jak! A little later im given a gun?! Then a hoverboard that plays like Tony Hawk lite?!?! All packed into and industrial futuristic hellhole of an open world?! Oh lets not forget the forest areas that are a definite break from the harsh world. It was everything. But, i was 8 and it was hard as hell and i had to wait until Christmas to actually own it and when i did i played the hell out of it. Which leads me to Jak 3. I was 10 this time and found the game on sale(i was late to the party and didnt really keep up with video games at that point), and man was i ready. The desert?! The Vehicles?! Light Jak?! An amazing story?!?! Man if Naughty Dog keeps this shit up, they will be the best game Developers EVER!(News flash, they made Uncharted which was...it was good but not Jak and Daxter great) since i was 10 and Jak II was so damn hard, this was the first game in the series that i beat, which made me go back and try to beat the First 2 games and even go back and beat Crash 3, leading to a long love of Naughty Dog games(super excited for Intergalactic, looks like a real return to form for them). So for me every Game is special but if i had to narrow it down to 1 game, it would be Jak 2. Ive grown to love challenge in video games even if its unwarranted. Between the gameplay and story its best in the series. But i think Jak and Daxter has better gameplay being an all out platformer, and Jak 3 has the best story, and i love the Jak series for being the bridge between the platforming of Crash and the story based gameplay of Uncharted/The Last of Us
U should do the sly cooper franchise… and I didn’t get to finish any of them when I was younger, I played all three about the same amount.. I’d try and beat and progress through the 1st and 3rd one.. but with the second one I just grabbed those flying cars and drove around until I got board.. but u said it was hard so that’s probably y I don’t remember going far in jak2.. and in the 3rd I drove around a lot in the desert..
amazing video man, took me back to my childhood. I’m just like you, Jak 2 is my favorite of the entire series but man is that game hard. I got the remastered trilogy for my PS4 last year and I’m still wondering to this day how the hell I beat it on PS2 as a kid. I’m struggling to beat it at 21 lol. thanks for the nostalgia.
If i remember correctly it has a built in feature that makes the game easier if you die alot in one section, but it's still one of the hardest games on the ps2.
A tip in Jak 2 with the dock mission where you got swarms of guards just hop on your hoverboard and ride past everything it’s the easiest way to beat the mission
Haven't played Lost Frontier or Daxter yet, but I'd agree with the ranking of the other 4. Just finished Jak X recently, that was a pretty solid combat racer: I came in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. OG Jak and Daxter is definitely my favorite, love the Mario 64 vibe.
I feel Daxter was a great game, it really felt like it got the most out of being a PSP title. It was very basic but effective in what it was made to be, I think i'd even put it above Jak X if not par with Jak X. Its no Jak 1 to 3 but I feel its heavily overlooked because it's a PSP game.
My favorite Jak game is always changing. As a child my favorite was Jak 3, then as a teen i began to like Jak 2 a bit more, and now as an adult i am enjoying Jak 1 the most. i guess it depends on what i am in mood for :)
Jak 2's difficulty was a strength, not a weakness. I will concede that the dock mission was bs, especially since the ships can shoot you. But the difficulty made Jak 2 actually somewhat of a challenge, but it's not a "hard game." It's not Halo 2 on legendary, it's not Dark Souls, it's not Ninja Gaiden Black, it's motherf*&%ing Jak 2, so please everyone stop complaining about the difficulty. All of the complaining caused us to get Jak 3, which was a cakewalk and the weakest in the series by far. In Jak 3, there much easier missions, but now you had 12, count 'em, 12 guns, additional dark Jak powers, and all of the powers of light Jak, such as slowing down time, shielding, or just goddam healing yourself. It was impossible to die in Jak 3. Jak 2 was hard, as in hard for a Jak game, that's it.
If people complain about the difficult is their opinion, they arent wrong (and im enjoy Jak 2, even with its difficult). Even ND admitted that they made the game too unfairly difficult. Stop machosist players saying that Jak 3 is only the weakest for being easy. Thats not a valid objective criticism.
Here is a fun fact. People criticize Jak 2 for the lack of checkpoints, right? You know what games are worse in that respect? Devil May Cry and Grand Theft Auto. No one complains there.
@@Neethan3247 I have to agree with this, and it doesnt help those games have a clunky autoaim system. Thats why i always prefered Jak 2 and 3 over any GTA although Jak 2 still isnt perfect in the checkpoint system. Only way less flawed.
All three were by far the best looking games on the system; can't think of any other PS2 games which averaged 60fps. I love the whole trilogy but there really is something special about the art direction in the first game; even playing Ghost of Tsushima on PS5 I still think that Sandover Village and the tiny coastal strip it inhabits is legitimately the most beautiful place I've ever walked through in a videogame. I'm so pissed off to find out that the game was supposed to originally have five villages instead of two. Regardless, Jak and Daxter was a beautiful swansong to the golden age of platforming, as well as the optimism of a pre late 2001 world. If the original creators are still around it'd be great if they could get together and do a finished version with all the originally intended levels, if they could capture that original vibe on the current hardware it'd be amazing
The things that kill Jak X for me is how slippery and floaty the vehicles are. Go too fast or some other slight little mistake and your car just tumbles all over the place. The whole deal of every time you destroy an opponent or you get destroyed it has to do this stupid action replay thing where you have to press a button to continue which really kills the pace I don't know why they thought this was a good idea. Oh and the auto save bug...... Give me Crash Team Racing any day!
Omg!! It’s great to hear the validation I thought as a kid I just sucked at Jak 2 or something 😭. Great list just to add personally I think Jak 3 would be my favorite
Aight I understand people have a boner for Jak and Daxter but for me, it's the second game that's the best and more fulfilling. A lot of what people criticized, and believe me, I felt it as well, I wouldn't change for the world. I loved the shit out of that game I beat it for the first time a couple of weeks back. Jak and Daxter is second best though.
Naughty dog when developing the jak games wanted to put more content and lore in the world , jak 3 could of gave us more lore and content but they had a shorter deadline, jak n daxter PL had a other level as well behind the giant diamond in the cave where the miners was at which was a wooded mountainous level like mountain pass
My favorite is the first game im more into platformers and racing games. I wish we got more platforming instead of adding guns and combat missions to copie GTA thanfully I heard jack and daxter is getting mod support which means custom levels so there is that at least.
My Personal Ranking 1. Jak 3 2. Jak II Renegade 3. Jak & Daxter The Precursor Legacy 4. Jak X Combat Racing 5. Daxter 6. Jak & Daxter The Lost Frontier
My ranking 1. Jak ll 2. Jak And Daxter TPL 3. Jak 3 4. Jak X 5. Daxter 6. Umm yea no Also wanna note that I respect everyone putting TPL as their #1 pick, it was almost mines, but please if they end up remaking all 3 games, don’t encourage developers to forget about jak 2 and 3. I understand y’all want a TPL style game, but it’s not how how it works. Jak 2 still holds a special place in my heart. I want a remake of ALL 3 games. Not just the first one.
Jak 2 is the best, in my opinion. Yeah it's hard, but the stellar story more than makes up for it! I love all 4 ND Jak games, haven't played the PSP games. I'd rank them, from fav to least: Jak 2, Jak 1, Jak X, and Jak 3.
TPL seems to get the most love from the community but it earned that reputation through world building. If we go by gameplay alone, we see steady improvement from 1-3. I'd like to say TPL's world-building negates the subpar gameplay, but many levels are gloomy and depressing, like Forbidden Jungle, Misty Bog, Lost Precursor City, Spider Caves, Gol & Maia's Citadel. TPL doesn't do "dungeons" well like Zelda (cited as an inspiration by Jason Rubin himself). It shines with its highly saturated colourful environments, which are just a few clustered at the beginning of the game. These are stunning. It also shines with the zoomer levels. My favourite is Jak 2. There's a great combination of wild, creative energy and foundations that have been refined and structured. I played it when I was 14 or so.
Honestly, I like Jak 2 and 3. idk which one is my favorite since they've become my comfort games as an adult. Although Jak 2's difficulty is a pain, which is probably the only major beef I have with the game.
The entire series was amazing in my opinion being as bad as the last one was i still played it through strong bc i loved wjat jak and daxter was i remember as a kid jak 3 was my favorite but now that im older i like the precursor legacy the most brings back the best memories i hope i never get sick of this came and im able to play it for as long as i can
6) The lost frontier 5) daxter (i didnt played but i think is good) 4) jak x 3) jak 1 2) jak 3 (take more interesting for me , touching more my style.) 1) jak 2 ( same as 3 but more developed good characters and focus in jak and daxter lore).
Hot take - I've never played any Jak games, even though I've been an avid gamer since the late 80s. I think I'd start with 3. A good mix of game play, most refined mechanics and not too damn hard/frustrating.
You can't say jak 2 is hard ID you're playing it wrong... Don't jump spin shoot... you don't only have weapons, but you have all the moves from the first game, so try punching amd then shooting... there's a video on youtube of powercell zeke that actually teaches tou how to play how Naughty Dog intended and it's easyer... not a kid's game, but easyer
I used to cringe when the old ps2 games would have the first few games be campy kid games then later on they usually would follow a trend of the where they would make the newer games edgier and try to age w the gamers. I used to think it was wack now when I think back on its cool and kinda necessary. you got to show growth in the character somehow and I think us as kids back then liked gritty stuff I still do tbh.
Not ranked, but what each game does well for me. 1: An Unexpected Journey: the game 2: GTA your mom can play 3: Guns, War, Darkness, Angels, EXPLOSIONS!!!! X: Crash Team Racing for a new generation of Racists The Lost Frontier: making me want to play a different Jak game
Jak 3, most fun overall Jak 2 Best story One of the best parts of Jak X story wise is how it re-established the romance between Keira and Jak, Jak 3 kinda left off in a weird spot between Jak and Ashlyn. You could say the Lost frontier did this, but the game was garbage and I consider it non-canon. As for Jak and Daxter, it practically felt like a whole different game. Its just an easy, laid back, fun game to play through.
What! #3 Jak 1, #2 Jak 3, #1 Jak 2 Fun wise 3 was funner because it was easier and had all the cars, but if you like a challenge 2 was better. Same mechanics but im 2 all day
Jak 2 is also my favourite in the trilogy, and in my eyes, the best game in the franchise. Yes, it's darker than the first and easily the most difficult, but I would argue that challenge is what gives players that sense of accomplishment when they complete the game, and the darker tone is what ups the stakes substantially from the first game. Obviously, it's a contentious argument, but I will defend Jak 2 as the best game in the series
is it just to be cool you hate on TLF? I'm enjoying it even if its not perfect. the platforming is everything i want. and for a psp game. the graphics are nice enough. and I have YET to hear a complaint thats actualy valid aside Dark Daxter. cause everyone says the same thing online: Oh the game is trash. and I ask: why? and they don't know what to say. Which makes me believe they haven't even played 5 minutes on the PSP. Anyways 1. Jak 3 2. Daxter 3. TPL 4. The Lost Frontier (amazing platforming/ powers. faithfull Jak and Daxter envirements) 5. Jak II (unpopular opinion: Difficult, frustrating, awfull vehicle controls. Toyato or Tesla would never build this. the levels aren't that creative nor fun, you go from point A to point b, c, d, e and F. you die and restart from point A. the checkpoints are none existant, you just have to finish the whole mission for the game to save your progress. desapointing, only 4 guns)
Jak 1 has the best vibe. The locations are so mysterious and futuristic but primitive at the same time. It’s just such a good game. I consider it way better than Banjo.

So you cant focus on your driving too much, nor can you focus on the map too much, its clunky to travel through
And if you try to go under the traffic, you still have to avoid the guards, theres no way around it, theres no way to Travel smoothly through haven city, which us why I describe it as clunky
Then once you finally get to your mission you sigh in relief as you finally get to some classic jak and daxter platforming and enemy combat, which is better with the new weapons
The game does some things better, but it does not beat the first game
The way the guns are mixed with Jak's in movement in Jak 2 is one of a kind, they really dropped the ball when they let the franchise fade out
I definitely respect your 1st place pick. Such a fun and well rounded game, it's my favorite. Honestly wish they had kept that style for the rest of them.
Right?! I wish we really got to go more in depth in the world and the precursors.

Jak 1 is literally one of if not the best game i have ever played
The underwater Mech suit mission in Jak 2 was the hardest to me. I almost quit because how frustrating it was. Jak and daxter is a beautiful platformer and should be remade for PS5.
Jak2 is and will always be my favorite game ever
But i think Jak and Daxter has better gameplay being an all out platformer, and Jak 3 has the best story, and i love the Jak series for being the bridge between the platforming of Crash and the story based gameplay of Uncharted/The Last of Us
Jack 3 is my favorite of the 4 original games
I was 11 in 2001.. my grandmother bought me jak and daxter for Xmas that year.. I still have that original copy.. thank you grandma 👵 ❤️
I bought the trilogy today the second is the only one in the trilogy i didnt play yet
Even Daxter on the PSP doesn't have loading screens.
@@sebastiankulche
Jak 3 is the weakest for having a rushed storyline with a poor conclusion, too many unbalanced weapons, and being much shorter.
@@Neethan3247 Is ok to be wrong.
My favorite one is the first one used to play it with my sister back then 😩
That mission in Jak II where you have to fight your way out of the docks is one of my worst gaming nightmares
Can you please make a tutorial of to make this types of videos?
I’ve only played 3, Daxter, Frontiers, then 2, I think I prefer 3 to 2 tho
I love the lost frontier psp even more than jak2 and 3. But not as much as jak1 and daxter psp
My personal ranking:
6. Daxter
5. Jak and Daxter
4. Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier
3. Jak X
2. Jak 3
1. Jak II
I find it funny how the list basically goes backwards from the newest to oldest
My top 5:
5. Lost frontier
4. Jak X
3. Jak 2
2. Jak and Daxter: the Precursor Legacy
1. Jak 3
My favourite is the first one too
The things that kill Jak X for me is how slippery and floaty the vehicles are.
6: Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier
5: Jak X: Combat Racing
4: Daxter
3: Jak 2
2: Jak 3
1: Jak and Daxter: Precursor Legacy
I've only played the main 3 but precursor legacy is easily my favorite, and one of my favorite games of all time.
Jak and Daxter 2, the difficulties of the game has me feeling hurt me plenty.
Jak 1 and 2 have always been tied for my favorite.
JAK II is hands DOWN my favorite!!
Mine is jak 2
Jak 2 was the final game from the franchise I played because I never finished it.
I had precursor legacy back in the day, I remember really wanting the second game but I was playing a lot of xbox at the time
W ranking video vid
Just ordered the first one to play again on my new ps2 :)
My Personal Ranking
1. Jak 3
2. Jak II Renegade
3. Jak & Daxter The Precursor Legacy
4. Jak X Combat Racing
5. Daxter
6. Jak & Daxter The Lost Frontier
Suoer Mario 64, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter and Crash Bandicoot is what i grew up on
The music of 1... too good.
My ranking
1. Jak ll
2. Jak And Daxter TPL
3. Jak 3
4. Jak X
5. Daxter
6. Umm yea no
Also wanna note that I respect everyone putting TPL as their #1 pick, it was almost mines, but please if they end up remaking all 3 games, don’t encourage developers to forget about jak 2 and 3.
Jak ll will forever be my Fav Jak game it was so long and fun I love ever min
I love jak 3 due to it's open world and storyline to it, then of course the original jak and daxter.
But hell yeah jak 2 was hard!
The entire series was amazing in my opinion being as bad as the last one was i still played it through strong bc i loved wjat jak and daxter was i remember as a kid jak 3 was my favorite but now that im older i like the precursor legacy the most brings back the best memories i hope i never get sick of this came and im able to play it for as long as i can
My favorite was Jak 2 that shit was soo much fun
6) The lost frontier
5) daxter (i didnt played but i think is good)
4) jak x
3) jak 1
2) jak 3 (take more interesting for me , touching more my style.)
1) jak 2 ( same as 3 but more developed good characters and focus in jak and daxter lore).
i feel like if ur a fan of the jak series jak 2 is ur favorite bc most people checked out at the second game and only know of the first one.
1) Jak 1 The Precursor Legacy
2) Jak 2
3) Daxter
4) Jak X
5) Jak 3
6) The Lost Frontier
Its hard to decide between Jak 1 and Jak 2 for me
Hot take - I've never played any Jak games, even though I've been an avid gamer since the late 80s.
1: An Unexpected Journey: the game
2: GTA your mom can play
3: Guns, War, Darkness, Angels, EXPLOSIONS!!!!
X: Crash Team Racing for a new generation of Racists
The Lost Frontier: making me want to play a different Jak game
I thought there were only 3 and a racing game 🤯
Obviously not as many platforming sections but when they do have them, I actually think Jak 2 and 3 are better than 1 in that regard
First one for shure
Nah jak 3 is definitely the best
I just replayed jak 1, 2 and 3 and 3 is the best by far. 2 is the worst by far
I think we can all agree universally that the Precursor Legacy & 2 are in the top 3 no matter what
Jak 3, most fun overall
Jak 2 Best story
One of the best parts of Jak X story wise is how it re-established the romance between Keira and Jak, Jak 3 kinda left off in a weird spot between Jak and Ashlyn.
You could say the Lost frontier did this, but the game was garbage and I consider it non-canon.
As for Jak and Daxter, it practically felt like a whole different game. Its just an easy, laid back, fun game to play through.
What! #3 Jak 1, #2 Jak 3, #1 Jak 2
Fun wise 3 was funner because it was easier and had all the cars, but if you like a challenge 2 was better. Same mechanics but im 2 all day
Only played first one and a lil bit of jak 2, first one was so much better why did they have to make jak 2 so hard???
The cheating ai took me out😂😂😂 cuz that is straight faxs
I actually prefer jak 3 over 2
You sounds like Chris Griffin 🤣🤣😅
2,3,X are my fav (2 being the best for me)
I have the trilogy on PS3 the graphics on the PS2 just don't do it for me
Remeber when dax was hunan or w.e they are 😂
Human
Jak 2 is also my favourite in the trilogy, and in my eyes, the best game in the franchise. Yes, it's darker than the first and easily the most difficult, but I would argue that challenge is what gives players that sense of accomplishment when they complete the game, and the darker tone is what ups the stakes substantially from the first game. Obviously, it's a contentious argument, but I will defend Jak 2 as the best game in the series
How is that a ranking, dude just went and said the scale goes from worst to best in reversed chronological release order.
Based
I think jak II is the best by far, I didn't like 1 that much and 3 had way too much back tracking
is it just to be cool you hate on TLF? I'm enjoying it even if its not perfect. the platforming is everything i want. and for a psp game. the graphics are nice enough. and I have YET to hear a complaint thats actualy valid aside Dark Daxter. cause everyone says the same thing online: Oh the game is trash. and I ask: why? and they don't know what to say. Which makes me believe they haven't even played 5 minutes on the PSP.
Anyways
1. Jak 3
2. Daxter
3. TPL
4. The Lost Frontier (amazing platforming/ powers. faithfull Jak and Daxter envirements)
5. Jak II
(unpopular opinion: Difficult, frustrating, awfull vehicle controls. Toyato or Tesla would never build this. the levels aren't that creative nor fun, you go from point A to point b, c, d, e and F. you die and restart from point A. the checkpoints are none existant, you just have to finish the whole mission for the game to save your progress. desapointing, only 4 guns)
Jak 2 is best
Then jak and daxter 1
Then jak 3
Daxter
Jak x
And lost frontier
Jak x was awful
Jak gets progressively worse after 1. Should had been a stand alone game
Jak 2 is the worst of the trilogy
