part of the Phanatic's appeal is the costume design, but without finding the right people to put inside the costume, the Phanatic would have been a flop. hats off to Dave Raymond and Tom Burgoyne, the two men who brought the greatest mascot in all of sports to life
I can guarantee that, when it is eventually Dave Raymond's time to go, by the time he reaches the Pearly Gates, there will be good ol' Tommy Lasorda standing there with a Louisville Slugger and a wide grin on his face saying "Ready for the next inning, big boy?!"

@@RandallBalls because Philly is so warm and energetic. And normally brown persons have more facial and fysical expression. It's meant as a compliment, if I call someones voice "brown", it's a real warm voice
For those who don't know Dave Raymond is the son of Tubby Raymond who was an outstanding football coach for the University of Delaware.
I love the Phanatic. He can make you laugh and cheer even when our team is getting their asses handed to them on the field. By far THE greatest mascot ever in any sport, no contest.

I've always loved the Phanatic and always will.
I would have to say that the Phillie Phanatic looks more like a cross between an Aardvark and a Duck of course I could be wrong. But I love the guy who does the job. He's really something else. For someone who can make children happy and has the ability to make people laugh and enjoy themselves the way he does is absolutely fantastic. PHILLIE PHANATIC KEEP THEM LAUGHING DUDE. Because laughter is and always will be the best medicine in the world. Also it takes a great deal of time to make people laugh. With the antics that you do for the children and the people who admire what you are doing. You are in one word, "MAGNIFICENT."
I am NOT a Phillies fan, but how can you not love the Phanatic ?
My dad worked at mat slap Chevrolet in the late 70s the Phillie Phanatic was hired for an appearance in the show room. I was about eight years old me, and all my friends were cheering the fanatic as he was jumping up and down on hoods and roofs of brand, new cars, and the salesman were screaming their heads off while we were laughing, not thinking of the damage she did. Just having a great time.

I've always thought that Tommy Lasorda and the Philly Phanatic had a love-hate relationship I'm sure Tommy was having fun with the Phanatic the day he got his uniform back then bashed the Phanatic with it
Yeah for sure they had a friendly love/hate dynamic lol Lasorda is from the Philadelphia area so he always loved coming to Philly... The Phanatic is without a doubt the best, most entertaining mascot in all of sports but there were times when Tommy wasn't in the mood for his shenanigans lol which made it even funnier

I hate baseball, at least watching it.. it's so incredibly boring, it's only topped by golf and women's sports in that regard. BUT I love the Phanatic and Orbit. They really are the only reason to watch, especially when they are doing messed up stuff.

Johnny Rotten- typical person that i guarantee has never been to Philadelphia let alone any of our stadiums. find a stadium in Philadelphia with a courtroom, go ahead, we'll wait. just like the snowball and Santa incident, (1968- fifty years ago) that is the old days. and having been to dozens of stadiums around the country and seeing other teams fans, Philly fans are not that different from other teams fans. and besides, the courtroom was for Eagles games, this is a video about the Phanatic, the Phillies mascot.
