With all the certifications the OP had here, you would think that that stupid micromanaging regional boss would be happy that the OP was doing all of that, pretty much for no extra cost, since a lot of those maintenance teams and other companies can be very expensive. I'm surprised that boss wasn't fired in that meeting, but at least he eventually was in the long run. Story 2: That is a very stupid rule and a very stupid owner. Forget getting it taken away (which was a good thing), if the owner/boss was calling me on a company cell for stupid and pointless reasons like that, i would've told him to only call me for actual important things, or give the phone back and tell him to buzz off. Story 3: Doesn't matter what day it is or who the client is or who did or didnt get an email memo, or whatever the situation is overall, you can ALWAYS be Batman. The client pretty much played along and thought it was cool, so the OP didnt mess up at all. Story 4: Yeah i would go to property management right away on this as well, and probably tell that girl to contact the people or movers the helped her move. I'm willing to bet that she's either misplaced something, hasnt found it yet in the move, or someone that was moving stuff did something about it. Leave the OP alone. Story 5: Mind your own kids and business, lady. Like, seriously... why is she so concerned about some other kid not wanting to be there? That makes no sense to me. Story 6: The OP really needs to tell Mrs. Smith that she is NOT pregnant, and really should've from the first time. A little clarification from both sides then would've helped this out big time. Never assume anything from anyone and dont just nod to everything and don't "just agree" with someone/something.
I feel like story 1 isn't even malicious compliance, it's just compliance. Malicious compliance is technically following orders but in a way that goes against the idea. Story 1 just got bad orders, knew they were bad, but went "Ok, if you say so!"
Story 3: my boss will actually text msg us if there's something important after hours. The OP in this story got screwed over by his company and boss, plain and simple.

Man that cell phone story was fucked. I would say anyone going through that should look into their local labor laws. Where I am at they have to pay you extra money for every day you are required to be available by phone. So that owner would have potentially opened himself up to a fairly big lawsuit.
The third story reminds me of one where an aunt of mine once convinced her coworker that there was a costume party at work and he showed up in a grass skirt and coconut bra when there was no costume party and he Had to stay at work like that for the entire day without no change of clothes

I actually have had a similar situation happen to me like in Story 3. In Kindergarten, we were having this pajama day like most elementary schools in the US. I came to school wearing my favorite pjs and I thought it was pretty weird how no one else was wearing them. I was a day early 💀 Also for some reason my mom wasn't called to get me a change of clothes or anything. I just got a sweet extra pj day.
to anyone like this OP who was given a company phone that you have to answer whenever. you are legally considered to be on call meaning that they have to pay you 24/7 because they are literally saying without saying it word for word, that you do not get vacations, you have to be ready to work whenever they want you to be. so go to your HR and tell them you want to set up a payment plan for now having to work 24/7 and not being able to use vacation days.
