  • This excellent idea of working with a deliberate constructed Tandem Wing System lead to a longtermed R&D with excellent results. More than 17 different Type of craft have been built and successfully tested for more than 100.000 flairing km by the inventor of the System Dipl. Ing. Günther W. Jörg. He was awarded by Phillip Morris for his successful research already in 1984.

    Not enough height to clear boat wakes, no less open ocean waves or wind generated chop on lakes. Cheers. D.

      This is a WIG with a seaworthiness much better than any speedboat. The aircushion under the wings is following the waves, so the boat is flairing over the waves. And bigger solutions of Airfoil-Flairboat have a flairing height overcoming every waveheight.

      @@fodank Google ground effect hovercraft, they are 2 seat US made, the UH-18 features in a number of videos.

      @@fodank The smallest size of Airfoil Fairboat is the 2-seater at length of 27ft.

      Yes. Indeed Flairboat is able to start with wheels and flaire over flat landscapes.

      Frau schnellhaas wäre es Ihnen möglich Herrn Jörg zu fragen ob er mal sein Gefährt in Kombination mit einem Hydrofoil(Unterwasser Trag Flügel) und Unterwasser Antrieb als Surfboard mit Tragflächen zu realisieren?
      Ich bin seit längerem darüber am brüten und habe genau so eine Tragfläche wie er sie für sein Gefährt benutzt bei einem Amerikaner gesehen der daraus ein 10x20cm Modell gebaut hat auf RUclips bestaunt.
      Ich glaube das durch den „groundeffekt“ und einem Hydrofoil die Start Geschwindigkeit auf unter 12km-h reduziert werden könnte...und durch eine Unterwasser Schraube auch der Lärm auf ein Minimum dezimiert werden kann (Elektro Antrieb)

      Keine schlechte Idee, allerdings haben beide ihrer Vorschläge das gleiche Problem, Reibwiederstände durch Kontakt mit dem Wasser bei höheren Geschwindigkeiten.

      So ist es. Die Kunst ist der reibungslose Übergang von Wasserkontakt in Freiflug im Bodeneffekt. Mit Untereasserhilfsmitteln ist dies leider nicht möglich.

    interesting design but there are reasons these ground effect vehicles have never really come to market. People have been coming up with designs for several decades and even the best modern designs have no real use case. These things are just ludicrously expensive hobbyist projects.

      Tandem Airfoil Flairboats are reliable working Type A WIG Crafts. The secret of the technology is the shape, completely adapted to Ground Effect needs. Flairboats are always flairing / cruising within Ground Effect, following the waves. The bigger the WIG, the higher the cruising height. Other WIGS with delta Wings or similar are completely designed to fly out of Ground Effect and so need to fulfill the needs of an airplane additionally, which makes production and sales price quite expensive.

      There are a lot of ideas and concepts that could not be implemented and failed. Not us. The designer of the Flairboat did a longtermed R&D leading to the Tandem Airfoil Flairboat. More than 16 different Flairboats built of different materials and sizes (up to 18m length for 12 passengers) have confirmed the quality of this Wing-in-ground-effect construction, cruising airborne over waves as well as over flat surfaces.
