Had a 10 week game with a friend that I managed to win with his help on the very last turn with his help once he decided to abandon the race and destroy the NPC who he believed was not worthy of the crown, for the NPC hadbeen blessed by the Dokagods and just been given everything via events. Kathy was denied a victory only by his heroic sacrifice and a town he had lost to being RNGd just barely within my grasp
I bought the game because of John. I also played against 3 Sneaky CPU. When I realized how much the CPU was cheating I started to cheat back. At the end I lost anyway because how uphill the last part is.😂
HoboJohnfish's path to victory does not lie in overcoming the odds and clawing to first with strength, cunning, and willpower. No, his only path to redemption lies in abject failure, from where he will embrace cowardice, pop off another Behelit, and attain Darkling once again. HoboCrawfish thinks he is Guts in the remake of berserk but he mostly a random jobber who thinks is the main hero but in reality, is just a D ranked villain sidekick who is cosplay as the bad guy. Plus he did dump Shadowheart in Baldur's gate so he just the worst. LoL
Just by the intro alone, you can perceive that John has some Kaiba levels of competitivity when it comes to Kathy. Just like Kaiba, he won't be able to beat his rival once this story is over. And just like Kaiba, the means of time travel might be used in the future to do so. However, as anyone watching this knows, luck will always smile towards our protagonist, while laughing towards her bitter adversary.
3:00 Covid really sucks. I got it back in 2020, not bad enough I needed to go to hospital or anything, but to this day I still can't breath properly and doctors can't do anything about it. Don't beat yourself up.
I don't think it's not about not acknowledging that Covid had an effect, but that there are other things to be learned, and that those are the things to focus on. For instance, in fighting games, you will always guess wrong sometimes, but you can't chalk up losses to just the 50/50 scenarios. It's about looking at the things that you can control. Even if it's a super close set that was lost off a throw, you should look at the reasons it got that close, not the final guess. In League, sometimes you get a terrible teammate that brings everyone down, but focusing on that teammate afterwards doesn't help, instead just look at the things you could've improved on in that game. In this case, John acknowledged that Covid had him feeling weird, and a little weak. However,despite that, there were other things that he could choose to learn from. Those being the things he mentioned later. No matter what, unless you're theoretical God, and are perfect, there's always something worth learning. Choosing to cop out on something else, no matter how good or legit a reason it is, doesn't improve you in any way.

You know, I have been thinking on this series and John and Kathy's relationship and I have come to a realization. Time and again John treats Kathy as his eternal rival, trying every underhanded tactic the game gives him in an attempt to bring her down but is foiled at every turn. John claims to be the best but the results never come in, he is outclassed by Kathy at just about everything. There is heavy Berserk theming to thier rivalry. Y'all, I figure it out. It is Kathy-Griffith vs John-Guts. It is Kathy-Guts vs John-Corkus
Not to psychoanalyze John too much, but it's interesting how his Final Gamer persona is all too quick to make excuses for why his plans fall apart and he loses, while real life John is all too happy to learn from a loss and come back better.
