You mad this ENFJ’s day. I don’t always feel the most intelligent, but when I am in my zone with my clients they are inspired by the ideas I bring to them.

This was wonderful! Thank you for this.
I'm ENFP married to ENFJ and I have to say - without ENFJ I would probably still be jumping around with zero logic. During our years together it has been great to notice how we both help each others to grow. He has taught me logical thinking (which I'm still lacking, but well - at least I have my master living with me. Plus reading fact based books is must) and question my perspective of things. Plus he calls me out when I'm just selfish, although hearing that hurts - it's true and I was blind about it for a long time.
On the other hand I've made him think twice in some circumstances that his value system isn't always the only truth and understand better other people when they do not act as his value/moral system think is right.
And oh how I smiled when you spoke about the demons... it ain't pretty when ENFJ and ENFP fight, if their demons are talking! ENFJ tries to control and ENFP just burn things down with their reality. Have been there and done that - that's no fun and games. As an ENFP I hate being controlled and ENFJ hates my lack of logical/technical thinking. But well, when our demons leave the building we have good, constructive and insightful conversations which help us both to grow.
Thanks once again for legit and truthful video! It's direct in very good way, although as an ENFP I'm still learning to take in constructive criticism :)

Your analysis on ENFJs is legit, I can't even. I could relate to everything you said about enfjs, and was like "woahh, how do you know enfjs so well?" I'm always thinking about ways to make everyone around me happier and I've a memory of a goldfish lol. Your videos are super entertaining and informative.
Also, I love the spontaneity and weirdness of ENFPs. I've got a few enfp friends and they're super fun to be around. So glad that they have the second highest compatibility with ENFJs yay

As an ENFP, no wonder... I have always felt so stupid without external stimuli from other intelligent people or knowledge sources. But reading(or watching videos in my case) or hanging out around smart folk, I absorb everything so fast and I end up putting myown twist on the things that I have learnd. For that reason I have always felt so stupid but smart all at the same time. It all makes sense now hearing this.

Your level of insight and knowledge is uncanny ... I am an ENFJ, I have an ENFP friend... when we first met we dated, now we are just friends, we mostly agree on things but we always argue about small things that usually have to do with his actions amd me trying to get him to be a better person and believe that he is and can be a better person... this video wrapped up everything. I feel like i understand him better and how to help him better with a little less conflict involved. Thank you.

(ENFP here). This. Is. Gold. Very insightful, as always. Appreciate your directness, as soft-pedaling is really annoying. Please don't water down the facts for the sake of a few oversensitive folks. Great anecdotal illustrations - very helpful (and super entertaining!). I find that curiosity (and boredom, to be honest) tend, in general, to win out over the desire to be comfortable, which by default then leads to new experiences and therefore growth. Wonder if that is typical of ENFPs? I think Ne people may have a particular need to have trustworthy sources/people to point out our blind spots. I also think the ENFP can do the relationship "door slam" pretty similar to the NJs... And of course my bibliophile heart is singing - again! Rarely read fiction, however. Hm.

hmm. how do you calculate your compatibility??
I am just now discovering your channel after some of my commentators have recommended you to me. It seems like we have similar goals and values and I'd love to connect at some point and see how/if we could help each other. I'm also curious how you mix together socionics with mbti, as I have yet to be able to lay it out the way you have. The system you use though seems very aligned with how I see the types use the functions, as I like to look at all 8.
"It's because I know type and I understand her" - this. !!!! This is why I love type. Doing this helps me to meet people where they are at. Who the fuck cares if an ENTP or ENFJ are "compatible" because when you know type you understand people and can connect with them.

HA! Joseph... Very entertaining in your approach! I'm new to your channel... and recently discovered I am an ENFJ and thought I was an ENFP and this information has helped me straighten things out even more. I especially agreed wholeheartedly on your insight of what if we all practiced the "golden rule" with others... That being said; being understood and heard has always meant much to me and never knew why... Thinking it was a "flaw" I tried to correct it, which only made me frustrated when I couldn't. Now I see its the way I'm wired and can use this information to temper myself that I may not always be heard, or understood and it's ok... Bc it's NOT on me... It's on the one who can't or won't take the time to listen, glean and learn... Learn a little bit about who I am and how what I'm offering, may benefit them. I got a lot out of your lecture and I HEARD you... THANK YOU. ps. Ethics here: Go and do the right thing and marry that lovely ENFJ!!

In the videos I make or even in auditions, when answering questions or articulating a flight, I really struggle with reaching the end of it. I hate feeling written off for being vapid but I love having my thoughts be validated by others🌟 this was honestly so helpful to me as an introduction to the fi, se, ti elements I’ve yet to explore more

They can from a rational belief standpoint but not a logical standpoint.

    • @dusterduster4

This is actually very interesting. I had to look up the words "Logos, Ethos, and Pathos" These turned out to be words and concepts I should have already known. Major Cool and funny how some things in life slip by you! This is going to help my writing too.
I can see now ( And I hope I get this right) that using my "T" feels forced and like a learned skill (only used when I have to) compared to using my "F" which feels natural and easy. ( FYI: Since my early teens, I have done a lot writing computer code, electronics, and math which may have strengthened my "T")
I think I was also getting hung up on the use of the word "deep thinking" only being applied to Logos. In other words, just because I may only / mostly use Ethos in giving a problem a lot of thought, does not mean we are not putting some serious effort into it. Hence, "my" definition of "Deep thought".
I living in a world where there is only two truths, God and math, (and the math is a little iffy) I believe ethos to as powerful a tool, if not more so, then logos in out day to day lives. Just think off the top of my head and being defensive. )
Thanks C.S. This really gives me a better understanding of who I am and how I function. Way cool.

OMG. Where to start? I am a 59 year old male ENFP. Having recently meet an 36 year old male ENFJ looking for work, I found your ENFJ video to be extremely helpful when I decided to try him out as a helper for a few days. We clicked / fitted nicely so this video caught my eye.
To the point. Being relatively new to MBTI, I did struggle to keep up with you on this video. But ...and here it comes... At the 25 min mark you clearly made the statement the a ENFP is incapable of "deep thought". "Hold the phone and rewind. What the hell did he just say?"
Never underestimate a ENFP when they go OCD on a topic. We will become very passionate and analyze it to the extreme until we become bored and move onto the next OCD. Even if it requires up to stop, think, and figure it out.
Remember, our biggest enemy is boredom. So sometimes we get " In the Zone" and think. With some discipline and a strong will, we can keep random thoughts from distracting us long enough to use Logical thoughts to add 2+2=4. We can then add to this outcome rational thought (gut feeling assumptions) to come up with reasonable probabilities. From there we might connect some dots to see a bigger picture then most or just throw in a few random ideals to create a new out of the box solution. Whew. Fun times to be sure.
Now, I will give you that we can forget how to focus and "Think". I will also accept that I may have just trained myself to be able to think deeply. Not always easy. Sometimes it feels like the planets need to be in alignment.
I just had to get this off my chest. An ENFP can do it and do it well.
Fascinating video BTW. Thanks bunches. Good job. It helps a lot.

    • @CSJoseph
      @CSJoseph  6 лет назад +1

Yes they can from a rational standpoint, but then again rationale is not technically thought, rationale is actually beliefs, or thinking in terms of belief systems whereas actual thought is logos and logos escapes the ENFP. Its literally thinking in terms of ethos vs. logos etc. I hope this makes sense.

  • @pedrodias5166

As an ENFP, I get your point of selfishness, but be aware that this is not always the truth, instead it is how it is percieved, we definetly need to learn to be more demonstrative. Still I prefer people to be auto sufficient, and that is definetly what I expect of myself, I definetly think the improvement on the world would be better if people would be more self aware, self sufficient, and reflect and try to improve upon their values, instead of simply doing demonstrative acts, bringing harmony, and being "helpful". Personally I really haven't had good experiences with dominant FE types, it's all nice and good to try to help the outside world, but sometimes if they're not mature enough they'll keep harmony at whatever cost, independent of their beliefs or others. they'll take things under the rug, they'll avoid conflict, it should be about conflict resolution, not avoidance. So in some cases, is it not more selfish, to not take responsability, to shrug away others problems, and just try to keep "people happy", instead of just trying to own it and reflect on it? A mutual sense of responsability for each part? And well, I am obviously generalizing based on my experience, just as you do.
Selfishness is quite subjective in a way too, if one focuses on improving oneself, instead of bringing harmony to the immediate present, isn't that kind of selfless? To take the duty of actually doing inner work instead of looking for ways to make things tolerable and pleasing? Personally I prefer people who seem to have profound values and ethical concerns, who have depth and emotional intelligence. I like if they don't necessarily are demonstrative or focus on me, is it not more selfish to expect people to be more demonstrative towards me?
Anyway, the point is that a FE should work on a more firm moral compass, and the FI should work on being more aware of others emotions and be more affective and demonstrative. I guess that's the point of mbti afterall haha. I just find difficulty in prefering FE over FI, for myself.

Regarding the NFPs struggle with selfishness, it really depends on the individual. I've been married or in long-term relationships with INFPs and one was NOT selfish at all and was in fact incredibly empathetic and giving and considerate of others and the other was pretty damn self-absorbed and selfish. Both mean well but my ex-wife actually performs a lot better in her relationships because she is so in tune with the feelings of others. Same with ENFPs. I work with a younger, more selfish ENFP and then my best friend is definitely not at all selfish.

okay so I definitely identify with ENFP at this point. it really is like night and day. I believe my brother to be an ENFJ so this dynamic was really interesting to see described with one another, it definitely makes a lot of sense and we often have conversations about starting our own business and living out our best lives. I'm definitely more introverted in the sense of being reluctant to experience new things but once I warm up to them I enjoy them quite a bit, he constantly surrounds me with his groups of friends that he acquires and I feel bad for never have given them a chance to be a great addition to my life. I am so extremely lazy sometimes but I appreciate the little subtle pushes people around me do to get me out of my comfort zone. I have a complete lack of will power into what I direct my energy into sometimes it can be really discouraging. I also had a real hard time thinking about the "creed" thing but I do have one actually, I do have this motto in life sitting in the back of my head that I want to prove myself to be worthy of influencing on other people. This video was awesome as always joseph! much love man, this channel deserves so much more recognition than it gets, keep going.

First of all, i want to thank you for these absolutely informative lectures. They really helped me know myself and the people around me. I watch your videos everyday all the way in Vietnam. Secondly, you have inspired me so much and i am now eager to dig deeper into this awesome psychological subject.
Which books and documents would you recommend for beginners?
I still have problems linking the cognitive functions to different positions in the axis and figure out how they influence the people from that order.
You would make an INTJ's day if i received a response from you.
    Thanks, Chase

I am wondering if the closer you are to someone, the harder it is to type them. I started watching these lectures to determine my husband's type. We have known each other 14 years, and have seen many different sides of each other, and have reached a point where we communicate much better, as we have grown and matured. I would love to optimize my relationships, starting with my husband, who I always thought was enfp. He doesn't believe in typology, but had to take a test to apply for a job, and received an enfj result. I believe he answered the questions to manipulate the results, in order to look more organized, which he probably felt was more desired by the position requirements. Which, of course, is why personality tests have such a questionable outcome.
I've watched how to type someone, am in the process of watching both enfp and enfj videos to figure it out. The thing is, I've seen both types in my husband: the istj bookworm and the istp mechanic. He does like to be seen as knowledgable, but also mechanically capable. It seems the two personalities are very different, but I watch enfp videos and relate them to him, then watch the enfj videos and relate them to him, and I'm stuck in the typical infj analysis paralysis-I am at an impasse. If it helps, he would hate to know that I'm analyzing and trying to type him, which he views as incorrect and a waste of time, and that I should know him, even though he chooses which information he shares and withholds, and is not the open book he thinks he is. Could this come from enfj control or enfp Te? Or something completely different?

ENFJs throw classy parties and ESTPs throw chaotic parties. You have the best parents. An ENFJ dad and ISFJ mom. You and your dad look at a bird in a painting the same cool way. My dad is an ESTJ and my mom is an ESTP.
I know an ENFP who hates to read and organize but she loves to learn about people and she has to put herself in other people's shoes to feel that person's pain. ENFJs don't have to put themselves in other people's shoes to pain their pain. I care more about the morality of a person than their thoughts about things but I do care about their thoughts as well. I ask questions.
I think a lot and feel a lot. External feeling with ENFJ. ENFJs and ENFPs hate being manipulated.
I know of an ENFJ on RUclips who says not all ENFJs are the same but we all need to be listened to and do not want to exclude anyone.

Hey I'm an Enfp and there is a weird thing about me that I wonder other people also have. I don't really like eating. Drinking much more and snacking as well but like eating something I don't like or when I'm not hungry almost makes me puke (actually did a few times). When I was like 14-17 (now it's better) I was actually really underweight, bmi of 17'4 or something but not anorexia nervosa. Now it's better I'm 5"8/9" and weigh about 120-125, but it's something that I really don't care about but my family does. Like I don't care if I look skinny and puny, cause my face is okay. Is this low se ? Can I change it? It's so unimportant to me but I think it's why I'm so tired all the time.

I don't understand the INFJ unconscious...the concept is not clear to me. I also don't get the ISTJ and the ESTP in the ENFP personality. I want to understand the correlation. Maybe you already have a video explaining?
To be honest, I have sensed a bit of ENFP bashing...maybe that's a harsh word...more like mocking. But, here I am. I didn't tune you out. I licked my wounds and came back...so there! hahaha More tolerant than you suppose. I am listening.

So perhaps I, just by nature, do that without actually having to think about it.

Interesting. . . My older sister is an ENFJ and I know someone in my circle who is a self identified ENFP (She is the one who actually first introduced me to the four interaction styles). For better or worse, I see the Fe and Fi function manifest in different ways. For my older sister, she does seem to have high emotional intelligence, but at the same time can be self conscious while over-extending oneself. For the ENFP that I know, she does based a number of decisions on how she feels about doing something, but will use her Fe function to insure that she is at least ethical or is respectful of boundaries. The social gatherings is very much true. . . the only thing is that they are usually a hit or miss with me ( however, that is neither here or there). The point is that both personalities could not be any more different.
P.S: I think I am becoming more arm and dangerous with understanding these cognitive functions. That may or may not be a good thing.

This was really interesting!! I wish I could meet you and go on a double date. ENFP/INFJ with an ENTP/ENFJ. I would love to talk human behavior and see the mbti world through your lens, in an interactive way. Have you ever encountered situations where ENFJs have values, but not good always "morals"? I'm not sure if that's the right word... I have met a couple female ENFJs who have strong principles, but are a wee loose sexually.. I'm wondering if my continual encounters is purely coincidental, or if there is any possible frame of thinking that could, under the right environment create this kind of oximoronic behavior.. like maybe the extroverted element? As you and I have discussed in the past sometimes enfps can be very inconsiderate and thoughtless.. and I've been trying to research this trying to see if there is any kind of a connection out of curiosity, trying to understand a particular friend of mine who has this habit but it is a really wonderful person and I don't know why she chooses to make choices with men that are potentially devastating to their wives or girlfriends and potentially devastating to her as well. And this is a behavior that I have seen in a lot of female enfjs. Again it could be just a coincidence I was just wondering if you had any insight. You are correct that we suck at receiving criticism. Keep doing you keep calling us out. The people who want to change will receive it and take it in themselves and adjust accordingly. I would say you have made a big impact on me since I'm new to this world and your criticism has helped me to really take a better look at my falling out there and shortcomings. I've always loved to read but was able to breathe that desire to read and research back into me and bring me back to humility and all of its forms of the fact that I don't know much if anything at all. But I can learn the more I learn the more humble I become. ISTJs are pretty amazing people. when he first met me I'm pretty sure I thought I was insane but I was able to wear him down and after years of working together when he moved away admitted that he would miss our constant arguments and debates back and forth and even my"insanity."

@@_VISION. This may or may not be what he's trying to convey but this is my interpretation as another ENFP: ENFP's use a combination of what they believe to be true (perception) along with what they know is true to think rationally. Logic does not allow for perception to influence the conclusion. What is accepted as fact to the ENFP is not necessarily what is fundamentally true if it hasn't been fully verified through logical reasoning. ENFP's have a tendency to mold the truth to fit their beliefs by altering the angle at which the truth is viewed, similarly to fitting a square into a round hole by shrinking its size. It fits, but some people may disagree and see flaws, while nobody would disagree with a perfectly sized circle (logic) fitting into that same hole. While an ENFP may see multiple perspectives and see multiple right answers, logical thought only sees one that is truly correct, and because of this, ENFP's may struggle to determine which of its multiple right answers is the logical answer (?). It's a double-edged sword in that while we can see more perspectives rather than just solely using logic, we may end up choosing the wrong perspective as a result. Rational & logical thinking should be used in tandem, in that the former opens up multiple paths to take while the latter guides through those paths.
