I totally relate. The genre is called Afrobeat, not "afrobeats" but Afrobeat. It's originator is Fela Kuti, a legendary classically trained Nigerian artist known as the father of Afrobeat. Kokoroko's sound is somewhat a modernized and re-imagined version of Fela Kuti's sound. Hence, I say the genre is Afrobeat.
@@gurusawa6517 oh yea its afrobeat, there's a clear inspiration from fela but the production and some of the jazz melodies felt modern enough for me to call it afrojazz. Whatever you call it, it's beautiful music

it's still jazz, afrobeat is literally a mixture of jazz, funk, highlife and a bit of fuji elements
