I couldn't find anyone else showing this function, which is shocking. Makes total sense to be able to walk around while listening, twirl in your chair etc without having to worry about how long the cord is or getting tangled or snagging it. If you need a wired PTT, a foot pedal PTT would be the perfect combo!
Well done. I have IC-705 on order from DX Engineering with about 4 week back order. Your videos are so well done and are getting me ready to operate. You are doing such a service to us newbees. Thank you so much!
If you are going to have to tethered to the IC 705 for PTT though the speaker mike, you might as well use a Heil headset specific to the 705 with a built in PTT.
Great videos. Very complete. However, it looks like you will need 10 more to cover every feature of this radio. Fantastic radio. I have watched every 705 video I could find and yours are the most complete. I will be waiting for #4. BTW Monoprice has over the ear headset for 19.95 free shipping that work’s very. Not noise canceling but very good for the money.
Hi Tom. Thanks for the kind words and for the tip on the Monoprice headset. I've used Monoprice for years and I like many of their products. I used to be fortunate enough to live a few miles from their main distribution center. They have a small store and will-call pickup at the facility. It's going to take WAY more than 10 videos to cover this radio. I currently have 43 videos on the IC-7300 and still haven't covered everything on that radio. This radio has a lot more features. So unless I make every video an hour long, it will take a while. I only wish I had the time to put these out more frequently. I still have a day job. So I have to fit the videos in between that and family commitments. 73, Tom
@@HamRadioA2Z thanks for the nice reply. Funny how work and family need to come first. I am retired, but still stay very busy with grandchildren and other family. Anyway thanks for the effort.
Hi. I did think about that, but I didn’t really want to be pressing a button on the side of my head every time I wanted to transmit. So I haven’t looked into it any further - at least so far.
@@HamRadioA2Z my C400XT works as 1 touch ptt from the multifunction button; I turn on the 1 touch ptt in the "icom headset" button. Headset Function Select: Normal. Icom Headset: One Touch PTT>On, PTT Beep>On.
@@blackknight1397 actually that was my speculation. What I discovered to work is on the radio set Icom remote to one touch and use the button below the blue parrot button to toggle ptt . Works great
I know Im randomly asking but does any of you know a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the password. I would love any tips you can offer me.
@Matteo Omari I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im in the hacking process now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I haven’t so far. I’ve just been using the PTT on the standard mic that came with it. I don’t mind the wire for that. The BT headset just allows me not to have to bring the mic up to my mouth or hold it to my ear to hear it. I’m thinking about making just a PTT cable that plugs into the mic jack.
Thank you for the kind words. The Icom headset that works with the radio is the VS-3. It includes a PTT switch and several other switches that allow you to remotely operate the radio. So it is a little better integrated than a standard phone type headset. The downside is that it doesn't have an integral earpiece. It has a jack to plug in wired earbuds or headphones and it comes with a single, wired earbud.
I was able to successfully pair, connect and use a Mcbazel Surecom Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker Microphone PTT for Android Phone POC Walketalkie. No luck getting any of there Android decides to connect - all would pair but a Samsung Galaxy S10+ phone, Samsung Galaxy Tab 5es and Nexus 7 tablet wouldn’t connect. If you get to Android device use in a future video, I’d appreciate it!
During initial set up I successfully bluetoothed a bone conductive headset but since then I've found that without the headset paired I can only get audio via the mike. Since then, bluetooth or not, the internal speaker only ever works if i am using the headset and use the approp setting to do that ( headset and speaker mode) . Sound comes from the mike. I'm wondering if it was like that originally, I'd assumed that i was hearing from the speaker.
I’m pretty sure that the internal speaker is wired through the 3.5mm Jack for the speaker mic. So when you plug the speaker connector in on the microphone, it cuts off the internal speaker and sound comes from the mic. If you unplug just the 3.5mm plug (the larger one) you can listen through the radio speaker and still talk through the wired mic. I do that all the time.
@@HamRadioA2Z I'll try that but the plug has been in since day one and i was thinking sound had been originating from the speaker before i touched bluetooth. I was also wondering if it was because i assigned volume control to the mike. The advanced manual suggests the mike had turned internal speaker volume down but i don't see a specific control for that.
Thanks for the info. I wondered about them. I don’t own a set. I have read reports that they don’t pair well or at all with anything other than Apple devices.

Thanks Tom, very useful indeed!

When you pair to the radio do you still need to press the microphone to transmit or will the parrot mic respond with VOX turned on?

Have you tried the IC-705 Bluetooth with an Open Spot and a iPhone ?
Always excellent videos I have do have this same Parrot headset too.

Do you mean connecting to a hotspot via Bluetooth instead of WiFi? No, I have not tried that.
Your blueparrot model offers several PTT modes through the parrot button that can be selected via the smartphone app. Did you try those? Would you?

Pairs with anything may be a stretch. Lots of troubles with various buds and sets over on the Groups i.o page.
Yes, “anything” was probably an over statement. However, it seems like any decent quality BT headset/mic should work okay though.
