- The Rolling Stones - Paint It Black drum cover.
BTW: I'm looking at where the drums come in on the track in Logic Pro as its intro is not in time after the intro guitar part which is a rubato part at its conclusion.
Triggered Addictive Drums.
You know it's one thing to enjoy playing these covers and sharing them on YT, but it's great blessing that other drummers like yourself find these cover videos helpful in learning the drumming. Thanks so much for watching, for subbing, and for sharing your encouraging comments.
Your face at 01:28 haha. You're an excellent drummer, Sal. I thank the Lord for your talent and thank you for being so inspiring. Keep up the good work!!!

Thank you and may God bless you with His indwelling presence.

Same from me. That's abso-fucking-lutely awesome, Sal! It is such a joy watching you, pal. So thank you very much for this experience...
Great job, Sal. The drums drive this whole song. This song shows the greatness of Charlie Watts. You did him proudly.
Thanks a lot, much appreciated!
Love the drums in this song. You did an excellent cover, great job!
john
Thank you
That was actually extremely helpful...thank you.
Glad it helped.
I’m with you mate
Still killing it 13 years later!!!! 🤘
Yes, left to right: hi to low. The hats are 1/2 open during the chorus. Thanks a lot for checking it out. Keep drumming!
I like the way you play, so natural, going straight into the sound without flaunt. You can see it's naturally in your blood. You've got a new follower!
I didn't know Mark Hamill could play the drums....
Ha
Ironically in the music video, mcjagger looks like young Mark Hamil
Marc Hammil married Sheldon and Amy
That line where he says "I want to see the sun, blotted out from the sky" always sends chills up my spine man.
And it should, as it will not be a time to be around when that happens during the Great Tribulation. "I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair , the whole moon turned blood red." (Revelation 6:12)
rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato Oh, I was wondering where that line came from, thank you Sal.
So, a solar eclipse then?
Wow. Addictive drums sound really freakin' good!!!! I'm definitely getting that plugin!
Nice played 👍 keep up the good sounds 😄
from one drummer to another your one the best ive seen
This is great. You've done a tremendous job covering this song's awesome drumbeat.
Well thank you for watching and for your encouraging comment.
I subscribed and love watching your drumming-you make it look so easy. I am learning from watching you so thank you very much as you are helping me enjoy drumming even more.
Gary Taylor
Well I'm very glad to learn that my videos help people learn the drums. Thank you for sharing and viewing the video and keep drumming!
thanks for showing the RIGHT WAY TO PLAY IT!!!
you are the only one that i have seen that plays it right !!
Hats off to you Man ! and that you Peace
bombastic percussion....loved it THEN...love it NOW ! awesome!
this keep coming up in my feed and i keep watching it because it's so clean
Thank you for viewing the cover video.
Fair play mate that is some awsome drumming, i have been looking for a cover of this song for a while and stumbled across your videos. Thanks so much, you have helped me massively as i have struggled with some of the fills for this song.
I doff my cap to you and your truly amazing drumming
I could listen to this cover all day ... very good video mate :)
WELL DONE....awesome great old song....I grew up in the 60's and my brother played the S*** out of this song at home....I pulled up to a traffic light last week with this song blaring on my car cd and the driver next to me was jamming to it also. LOVE it!
Thanks for viewing my cover and sharing the memories. I've got the original 45 record of this tune as I was around when it first came out.
@@rhythmantic I distinctly remember the blue & white label on the 45...good stuff! Glad you have the 45...that's great!
@@valerietomsic8454 Yes, the London record label.
Fantastic!!! I love it. This is one of my favourite Rolling Stones songs. This was one song I listened to religiously when we moved to the P.I. Sal, I listened to it everyday when I had to go to my new school as I felt like I was alienated and was very unhappy. This song helped me though. I'm glad you covered it!! :-)
awesome video, i hope to someday be as good as that.
@BoydMcCoy Thanks for your kind comments. I grew up with this music, so it's in my DNA, also, being a musician is not like being an athlete where one peaks at a certain age and goes downhill from there. As long as one has health, a musician just gets better and can continue to play just as energetically by using economy of strokes w/an experienced deep-pocketed groove. Thanks for watching & commenting, much appreciated.
I’ve just started learning this song today and your video has helped me so much, especially with the tom fills. Great cover and very helpful.
Thank you Ryan. I’m glad my cover helped in learning the parts.
Best I have seen...great feel...I'm learning it. Thanks
Wow ! Great cover Sal. Never realized how complex the drum arrangement was. Glad I came across this one. Fantastic drumming....N
+readyeddy101 Hey Nick, thanks for dropping by and checking out the cover. Yea, Charlie took some cool fills and played a rocking groove on this one, hey!?
Good one, Sal. My old-guys group just started playing this. Was wondering if it was one or two toms on first half of the verses. You showed me! Now just need a clean way to end the song.
Thank you Harald, glad the cover helped.
Thanks, I appreciate you stopping by.
Very well done cover. I like playing along with this one too. It's a really good song for drummers. Again, very well done. Keep it going.
+Stevie G.
Thank you, I appreciate you checking out the cover and commenting. Keep drumming!!!
+rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato "Keep drumming". You know it brother.
Smooth, simple, and effective. Good job sir I am a fan!
Thank you
Wouaaaa....it's not not easy to perform this song......great drum cover.....many thanks
Thanks for checking out the cover.
Very nice Sal! Amazing drum cover as always! 😀
Thank you David, keep rocking, man!
What a great cover man. Thanks for sharing that we can try to copy your playing!
Thank you for checking it out and glad to learn it will help in learning the drumming.
@@rhythmantic Can I maybe ask what kind of drum set this is? I would like to buy one like this one day

The big fill in the middle is amazing
it's cool to see some one of your age on the internet but it's even cooler to see them uploading video's where they kick ass!
@Lancairkris Thanks dude, appreciate you stopping by and checking it out.
Thats what we call in Poland Passion and pure something that you can do it for yourself and every time when you go to sleep you know that you are getting older and you can still fuckin ROCK !
@thelittlesthobbit Thanks for watching and for digging the cover. I've been an acoustic drum set player for over 47 years, edrums are better than no drums. They also have many advantages, one as you noted, that acoustic ones do not. Dug your vid on the vampire slayer kit. I don't know what to make of it, but a person who subbed to me at the same time you checked out my vid was a fan of Bela Lugosi, two ends of the spectrum, one loves 'em, one slays 'em.
Well done.
One of my favorite songs
Thank you.
Loving every part of this
+Cameron McNamara
Groovy! Thanks!
@GugaBateraRj Thank you, appreciate it. I'm glad my video helped you. Keep drumming and learning.
@adrian129er I have a Gretsch and Pearl acoustic drum sets, and access to 2 Yamaha kits and 1 Mapex kit. I've played acoustic drums for 47 years, and edrums for about 2 years, and I'm just digging the ease of recording and having the ability to trigger so many brand name drum kits and sounds. It's awesome, oh, and I could play in an apartment at any hour without disturbing the neighbors.
good job, Sal : love you're work, thumbs up.
Thank you Marc for viewing the video, it's much appreciated.
he can drum dam boy
@rhythmantic That was great, I loved it! I agree with you entirely about the age thing; I just got done watching the Stones do this and they are in their late 60s, and they still rock and look good doing it.
@jmreviews5 Wow, thanks, that is nice to hear. I appreciate you checking it out. I haven't seen this video in a while, last time I did it had just a few hundred views, so it's good to see it getting viewed. Thanks.
@scamp3464 Thanks, appreciate it. Ride hand is straight 8ths. Bass drum (verse: 4 on the floor; chorus: 1 and and 3). "No more will my green sea...." part - I'm improvising in that part. This is one of those tunes I'd like to do over just to change the tone of the toms. I don't like that hi-tom, oh well! Snare, hats, & bass sound solid though. Thanks again for using my videos as tutorials and good going with your learning the songs.
This is such a great song, and you made it better!
Thanks so much, appreciate it.
@guitarman64100 Thanks guitarman. I appreciate you being there and checking out the videos. Keep drumming dude!
Sounds awesome !!! congratulations!!!
My favorite song of all time!!!
top notch attention to detail !
wish I could jam with you
How are you so good. Nice job! This cover is impossible for me right now at the stage I'm at in drums rn. You're seriously a role model for me!
Thank you. It's a blessing to be a role model. Keep drumming!!!
Thanks for sharing. I always thought the drum line in this song was under appreciated.
Very good
good execution, and very good sound of drums
congratulations :D
Thanks for checking this out.
nice!!! you rock - Grettings from Colombia!
Excellent cover! Thank you for it!!
Thank you for checking it out.
Fantastic..it awsome you did a great job..
That would be a good one. Perhaps this summer I will get to it. Thanks
this is a good song. I love how you did the drum fills.
that's a perfect drum cover
Another classic and fab to see the drums in focus on this as well as all your drum tracks watching you play is just great! What is the timing measure on this one?
@LarryStephenson Thank you for watching & your encouraging comments.
@rockhaze Right on, man, thanks for stopping by.
I love this! The audio quality is awesome and your drumming is extremely precise! Btw I'm s drummer also :)
Thanks PBTG. I was listening to this cover the other day and I thought: "that snare sounds just like the one Charlie used on this recording." And you, it probably is, because it's a Ludwig Supraphonic 402 14x6.5" snare.
This my favorite song to play because it's just so much fun. There are thousands of places you can put rolls in that song. Trying to get my band to play it though
@Robeban2 Wonderful, good for you. Thanks for watching.
Thanks a lot, I appreciate the comment.
Really inspiring video...getting my Roland in a week :D
My favorite song of stones
Márcio from Brazil.
Hey I'm a guitar player but man, I can appreciate some kick ass drum tracks! Keep it up!
Awesome cover and thanks for learning me the song :) Keep it up :D (You've earned a subscriber :D )
@ulisesfer18 Gracias! I appreciate you checking this out and commenting.
love the sound
@zildjiancam Thanks, I appreciate you kind words. Yea, it's about the groove, Charlie is a groovemeister.
Oh, very good interpretation !! Congratulations !! I m a beginner drummer , very Good drum lesson !!

Great job
+DragonBorn Skyrim Thank you
Interesting! I've yet to cover Yes, will probably do Roundabout. Thanks for watching.
@lgalovic1 Thanks...I think!? I've played acoustic drums for over 47 years and I'm diggin' VDrums, I have access to 1000's of kits through just one, can't do that with acoustics, plus they are easy to record and audio mix and I don't disturb anyone, and particularly with sampled software, sound great.
@SQDLVR Well thanks Eman, that's good to hear and thank you for checking this one out. Yes, music can heal and soothe. Have you ever read the account in 1st or 2nd Samuel of the Bible of David being enlisted to play his lyre or some stringed instrument, by King Saul to soothe him?
So, as I'm comparing my Gretsch Renegade acoustic kit to your electronic kit, are your tom (pads) set up progressively larger from left to right? Also, are you hitting your hi hat closed, open, or both as needed? Mine are real "clunky" closed and real splashy open. Dumb newbie stuff, I know, but I appreciate the input- and the vid- another great cover. Thanks.
@SubRosaSpear Excellent, I'm pleased to hear that my videos serve other drummers like yourself. Thanks for sharing that.
@jmreviews5 It's the TDW-20 module w/TD-12 pads & VH-12 hi-hat. I'm triggering Addictive Drums for this cover so it's not the stock sounds of Roland V-Drums. Thanks for watching.
Charlie Watts= the king of minimalism. Easy to play, but deceptively hard to master. Nice cover!
Thanks for viewing the cover.
Yea, "Chawlie's good tonite, ain't he"!? Mick Jagger on Get Yer Ya Ya's Out live recording
Thanks, much appreciated. Roland V-Drums TDW-20 w/TD-12 pads, VH-12 hi-hat triggering a kit from Addictive Drums ADpak-retro.
@calsas Thanks. I cover songs that are played by humans, that have soul and life and a spirit which makes these songs transcend generations. Thanks for watching.
damn dude, you know how to choose your songs! awesome job!
Best drum cover ever I am going to subscribe to you.
And like it.
Love watching these videos!
thank you Ken
@TheCasualbikes Thanks, I appreciate it and you and your Casualbikes band keep rocking!
@mantops3 You are correct in detecting an undesired hit, but actually it's not a miss but the wrong drum used on the crash, it should have been bass/crash, not snare/crash, hence the face I made. Thanks for your critical watching.
Very well played.
@PhillyTalent Thanks so much for your encouraging comments and for viewing my video. I've been playing for 47 years, starting the same year The Beatles came to America. Yes, I'm surprised you can view any of my videos in Germany, they all appear to be blocked there. Very stupid, it hurts the artist/band/publishing that visibility of their music is getting blocked and thereby more money if someone buys their songs because of my cover. I'm not making money off their music.
@wekkki Cool man, thanks so much for checking it out.
excellent cover,thanks for sharing.
Damn good. Snare sounds great, too.
@rhythmantic To which I must say, an electric set would be great as I can only play during the day and even then with annoying mutes attached everywhere. I'm not a huge fan of electric drums, but these sound very good and my whole point of visiting was to see your take on Paint it Black, which I thought sounded great.
Great cover man!
