One tank had to be restored the other one just survived the war. That’s why the Sherman is still seeing service by other countries meanwhile the tiger 2 is only for show now
I had an old buddy, long departed, that actually fought for the US in WWII, and was in the Ardennes, and he said every time they saw a King Tiger, it scared the hell out of them! One time, they were sitting still, in a road, and one just came out of the woods on the right side of the road, and kept going across and to the left, back into the woods there, and they figured that Tiger never saw them, or it was hauling to get more ammo or gas. Either way, they sat still and waited for an hour and nothing more, they were so scared. Tells the power of this amazing beast! True story!
The beautiful thing about these old olive drab and gray and brown and blue and chrome and grayish green hunks of steel and Iron and aluminum etc. is that they will be telling the stories of the men who operated them at crucial points in history long after those men are no longer able to tell those stories themselves. God bless those who take care of these old weapons of war and preserve them and their stories for posterity so that God forbid their stories will ever be forgotten.

As an American kid growing up watching WW2 documentaries I think the germans had the cooler toys. MG-42, Tiger II, German Half tracks, a car that goes in the water Schwimmwagen. Kettenkrad HK 101 are my favorites. Plus the german helmet Stahlhelm ('steel helmet ) 😁
Bedder Looking, yes. Bedder in general, no. Hard to produce, expensive, not easy to maintain. But the best in ergometrics. Inovative would be the right word.
Great video. Interesting to see, and to keep in our minds the horrors of warfare that still go on today . We must remember our past to move forward to a world of peace.😊
Thanks for the video. My uncle Don landed on Omaha beach June 6,1944 with an artillery battalion of the US Army. It's difficult to imagine the horrors they endured that day. Very interesting to see the kinds of equipment they had . It's a wonder they got any of it off the beach! Thanks again!
These videos are always GREAT to see. Watching these vehicles still running is wonderful considering their age and history. HOWEVER, I find it disappointing we NEVER get to see any turret traversing. Just driving around and around. Do these turrets still rotate or not? Maybe show one tank taking aim at another, or just lining up on a simulated target. Seeing them drive around and around and around, when we know they did so much more...AT least show a turret move.

Ein weiteres Jahr Entwicklung in diese Kampfmaschine und es gäbe wohl niemandem auf dem Schlachtfeld mehr der ihn hätte gefährlich werden können. Höchst beeindruckend.
Don't talk nonsense. In the next year there would already be tanks that would be able to threaten the Tiger 2 tank, such as the ISU-122, IS-3, Centurion or M-26.
Some great combinations of old and new and model variations on the Shermans with turrets and hulls, equipment etc. Nice to see the longer M4A4 compared to the other marks.
Je suis le type qui tourne la manivelle avec le militaire à l'arrière du Tigre 2 à 0:40 😄 Ce fut une expérience unique que je me souviendrai toute ma vie. I'm the dude actionning the crank with the tank crewman behind the Tiger 2 at 0:40 😄. This was a unique experience that I'll remember my whole life. I'd say that the more iconic is the Tiger I. The Tiger II is surely the most impressive, although together with the big qualities had really huge issues
Tiger II is a definition of a failure and a great example of how shortsighted Germans were during WW2 This tank was plagued with issues, most of the 500 units they made were found abandoned on the side of the road. If it didn't break down or catch on fire it run out of fuel. If it miraculously managed to avoid doing any of that it got bombed, because Luftwaffe couldn't contest the air space, let alone gain aerial superiority or supremacy There's a reason they lost the war and there's a reason we don't have heavy tanks anymore I can't make you care, but I hope you realize its not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of denying that reality exists
@@tetrahedron4752 All true, although the Panther was also plagued with issues too when it rolled out. When they were able to work the kinks out it was regarded as one of, if not best tanks in the war. Given more time, The Tiger 2 may have been in a similar status...thankfully not though.

It’s a good thing the Axis wasted so much time, effort, resources and lives on Wunderwaffe like the King Tiger. Otherwise they might’ve stood a chance to win if they focused on practicality and usability like they did with the Stug and Pzr IV instead of on power and intimidation.
The Germans made the Stug III out of old PZK3 chassis. The Germans are too stingy to just dump them, so they made Stugs with them. They literally fell into making the tank killers to not waste material.
