I just wanted to share that this helped me a LOT with one extra step: I had to find the VBIOS for my card in TechPowerup's unverified BIOS file database. It' didn't come up easy for me and the first few that I tried to flash were rejected because the part numbers didn't match. I had to Google for the part number and "VBIOS for (partnumber)". It was the 3rd or fourth result and it was the only one that I could use.

@@Jsmnnly. difficult to say. If it is shutting down with no user input it is likely to be a power issue, or maybe even a bad power switch. Try disconnecting the power switch and use the reset switch instead (same wiring) this would rule out the switch being faulty
Was very easy. Bought an extremely cheap ($89) Sapphire RX480 8gb from ebay and it booted to the desktop with error 43 and it wouldnt even run youtube right. Reflashed the bios and works fine.
I got a radeon rx570, wasted some good 7-8 hrs figuring how to enable the card driver so that windows will accept it. re-installed the os again to make sure any registry issue is resolved but still there was no luck. Watched videos on youtube, googled a lot but still there was no solution to my problem. finally found your fix and did that, it took me 12:39 mins to watch your video and after that just 2 mins to fix the issue. Can't thank you enough to sharing this vital solution. Cheers

After a big windows update my gpu drivers stopped working properly and this video saved me! I had to use the older 2.87 version of ATI flash as I was getting a error telling me to redownload the atiflash. Pretty sure my gpu was a mining card, hopefully this has solved future issues. Thanks!
@@fathulsyahmi7364 I'm still strugling to fix but was at that step before. What worked for me was unplugging the gpu and starting the computer with the monitor pluged into my onboard card. Then I went to BIOS, changed the display monitor to CPU and reinstalled the motherboard. It is working but I still have to figure out how to make my gpu card work properly, but at least I have a computer to research a solution (solutions on the video didn't help, still getting the error 43)

Having 2 BIOS's is a great thing... if you have ever bricked a device with a BIOS update, it is a terrible feeling. RMA takes what feels like forever. ASUS motherboards (and other manufacturers, I am sure) have a great feature that allow you to flash a BIOS using a USB stick even if the board won't POST.
use DDU and remove all AMD and NVIDIA drivers , then install the motherboard chipset drivers only, then update windows to the very latest version and only then try installing the vga drivers
Worked amazingly! Thank you so much!!! My XFX Radeon 570 4gb was doing a little flickering for months. Sometimes the screen would go all white. Then yesterday the screen went all green, upon rebooting I got the 43 error and could no longer use 4k rez. My pc was custom made by LytegamingPC 5 months ago. Looks like they installed a used gpu. The gpu has a layer of grime and dust with their fingerprints in the dust. Not cool they sold me a bs gpu!!

G'day Mike, I bought a used Sapphire RX480 Nitro (I'm guessing it was a Miner as the guy had a few for sale) I was getting a clear picture out but the AMD Drivers wouldn't load & resolution was stuck at 800x600, I checked Device Manager & found the Code 43 Error, When I Googled your video was the second on the list (but the first I checked), I used your video as a step by step (Pausing every step watching on my tablet) & now it is working great at 1600x900, thanks so much for the walk through, I get very anxious & the video was a big help, sad your GPU didn't respond in a positive way, lucky yours has Dual Bios
AWESOME MIKE!!! With this procedure i resolv problems on my SAPPHIRE RX480 NITRO+ 8GB OC WB (AMD Radeon Error Code 43). I bought a RX480, the seller said LIGHT USE, but Windows not recognised this card.. why?? Because probably was used by MINING, so i mean HIDDEN STRESSED USED :)) Now the card work great with her twin sister! VERY VERY GOOD MIKE!! ;)

It worked! I just bought a used rx580 from ebay and i had this problem flashed the bios and vullah! Worked just like a brand new card! Though im not too happy that its probably an x miner card... either way thanks for the help mate!
Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to it was an msi rx 580. It had the error code Apparently it had a completely different bios on it. My computer picked up the correct version after the flash but the card was just bad in general so it still gave me issues. I bought the card used so I’m returning. But thanks for the help!

It was a year ago and I first ran into the issue when I tried to update my drivers, after that windows wouldn't recognize the GPU and I just used System restore to get it in previous working point because I didn't want to touch anything but after a long time I've decided to go for it using DDU and installing-reinstalling drivers all over again and I couldn't fix it but I watched one of your videos on re-installing fresh w10 and there you explained about the error 43 and the driver issues which has given me the clue that I was missing and I managed to fix it with using atikmdag-patcher thanks to your information. From the very start of my build with Gigabyte RX570 with ASUS Tuf B350M plus M/B I have had the dreaded code 43 error and had to use the "AMD atikmdag-patcher.exe" to get by. had to use after each driver update until the latest where it says that the driver is too big. Following your advice and method I upgraded the bios successfully. Problem solved!

Hi Mike. I have an XFX Double Dissipation Vega 56 with the short Nano PCB. After downloading the flash utility and looking at the current bios, it shows a "nano" specific bios that isn't verified by TechPowerUp. The card is getting the code 43 error and I need to reflash. Should I use the "verified" bios file for a regular PCB or try the "unverified" nano file? Any help would be appreciated!
Not sure. Does the nano have a different spec than the regular card? If they have some differences like fan controller etc then use the nano version for the nano card or you could get into a worse situation

You should always try and flash with the BIOS which is actually from the manufacture of the card if you use the wrong files then it can cause all sorts of problem and possibly kill the card

I have a problem with an MSI Rx 580 armor 8 gig. It seems to be working fine. Drivers installed good. But I’m using Kryptex and that’s where it won’t work properly. On the switch to activate and deactivate I can’t use. Also won’t show Hash rate. Any ideas.

What if the BIOS I need isnt on the techpowerup website?? I have an AMD (OEM blower style) RX 480 4GB, but techpowerup only has BIOS for the 8GB models. Hi Mike! I have the Code 43 error after trying to update my graphics driver. I tried to find the correct BIOS for my card but it doesn't seem to be available on Techpowerup. I have an AMD Radeon HD 8610G card on a five year old HP laptop. Filling out the info on the website I should have been able to choose: GPU Brand: AMD Card Vendor: HP Card Model: HD 8610G ...but that model isn't available. Any ideas on what BIOS I should download instead?
get the driver from HP that is the best option or contact there support for a bios although i would be very surprised if the bios was the issue it is almost 100% going to be a windows or driver issue
@@mikesunboxing Yes, the driver is the issue. I got the Code 43 problem after trying to update it and getting a new BIOS seemed to be the next step after what I've already tried. But I'm no tech wiz, hehe. Will contact HP support and see if they know what I should get. Thanks for the help!
That did not worked because you have to boot it windows with the working bios, and just before launching the flash you change the switch (while in windows), THEN you flash the new file on the corrupted OC mode and reboot the PC. Dual bios is just like that: they have 2 chips, what was shown in video was replacing the working bios with another working bios. Again: you use the working bios to boot the PC, then switch to the bad position and reflash the bad one, then you have 2 working positions again.

You don't need the drivers installed to flash to the bios so it is okay to try it. Always backup the old bios anyway to reflash if the problem is worse

if you have the original ROM backed up then yes you can flash that one back, but you might need to use another video card in the system or use a APU or onboard graphics to do so

Having 2 BIOS's is a great thing... if you have ever bricked a device with a BIOS update, it is a terrible feeling. RMA takes what feels like forever. ASUS motherboards (and other manufacturers, I am sure) have a great feature that allow you to flash a BIOS using a USB stick even if the board won't POST.
If only all manufacturers had something like that. It would make the process s lot less scary 😁

use DDU and remove all AMD and NVIDIA drivers , then install the motherboard chipset drivers only, then update windows to the very latest version and only then try installing the vga drivers
The fan of the graphic card dont work but the screen is ok
Could be a bad fan or maybe the wire is snagged somewhere

Worked amazingly! Thank you so much!!! My XFX Radeon 570 4gb was doing a little flickering for months. Sometimes the screen would go all white. Then yesterday the screen went all green, upon rebooting I got the 43 error and could no longer use 4k rez.
My pc was custom made by LytegamingPC 5 months ago. Looks like they installed a used gpu. The gpu has a layer of grime and dust with their fingerprints in the dust. Not cool they sold me a bs gpu!!

I bought a used Sapphire RX480 Nitro (I'm guessing it was a Miner as the guy had a few for sale) I was getting a clear picture out but the AMD Drivers wouldn't load & resolution was stuck at 800x600, I checked Device Manager & found the Code 43 Error, When I Googled your video was the second on the list (but the first I checked),
I used your video as a step by step (Pausing every step watching on my tablet) & now it is working great at 1600x900, thanks so much for the walk through, I get very anxious & the video was a big help, sad your GPU didn't respond in a positive way, lucky yours has Dual Bios

I bought a RX480, the seller said LIGHT USE, but Windows not recognised this card.. why?? Because probably was used by MINING, so i mean HIDDEN STRESSED USED :))

It worked! I just bought a used rx580 from ebay and i had this problem flashed the bios and vullah! Worked just like a brand new card! Though im not too happy that its probably an x miner card... either way thanks for the help mate!

Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to it was an msi rx 580. It had the error code Apparently it had a completely different bios on it. My computer picked up the correct version after the flash but the card was just bad in general so it still gave me issues. I bought the card used so I’m returning. But thanks for the help!

@@mikesunboxing I will really appreciate it man. I had this issue because I bough an used PC and the GPU was probably used for mining. It was a year ago and I first ran into the issue when I tried to update my drivers, after that windows wouldn't recognize the GPU and I just used System restore to get it in previous working point because I didn't want to touch anything but after a long time I've decided to go for it using DDU and installing-reinstalling drivers all over again and I couldn't fix it but I watched one of your videos on re-installing fresh w10 and there you explained about the error 43 and the driver issues which has given me the clue that I was missing and I managed to fix it with using atikmdag-patcher thanks to your information. You're a life saver!

From the very start of my build with Gigabyte RX570 with ASUS Tuf B350M plus M/B I have had the dreaded code 43 error and had to use the "AMD atikmdag-patcher.exe" to get by. had to use after each driver update until the latest where it says that the driver is too big. Following your advice and method I upgraded the bios successfully. Problem solved!

The best bet is to get the original drivers from the manufacturer website

Hi Mike. I have an XFX Double Dissipation Vega 56 with the short Nano PCB. After downloading the flash utility and looking at the current bios, it shows a "nano" specific bios that isn't verified by TechPowerUp. The card is getting the code 43 error and I need to reflash. Should I use the "verified" bios file for a regular PCB or try the "unverified" nano file? Any help would be appreciated!
Not sure. Does the nano have a different spec than the regular card? If they have some differences like fan controller etc then use the nano version for the nano card or you could get into a worse situation

I have two "R9 Fury X" but different one from "XFX" second from "VTX". Which one I should take for reflash? or both?
You should always try and flash with the BIOS which is actually from the manufacture of the card if you use the wrong files then it can cause all sorts of problem and possibly kill the card

I have a problem with an MSI Rx 580 armor 8 gig. It seems to be working fine. Drivers installed good. But I’m using Kryptex and that’s where it won’t work properly. On the switch to activate and deactivate I can’t use. Also won’t show Hash rate. Any ideas.

Hey bro, I have a question, I just updated to windows 10 (before it had 8.1) and when I updated it, I got error 43 from the display driver, I cannot adjust the brightness of my laptop or project to another screen, which I could do without problems before updating the operating system. I already tried to reinstall the drivers and they won't let me use them, marking error 43, what do you recommend? I have an HP Pavilion 15ab010la with AMD Radeon R6
you will need to remove the radeon drivers you have and install the drivers for the gpu from the HP site only no others. Hope this helps

it might work but be careful and make a backup of the existing BIOS in case you need to flash it back

What if the BIOS I need isnt on the techpowerup website?? I have an AMD (OEM blower style) RX 480 4GB, but techpowerup only has BIOS for the 8GB models. Will I do even more damage if I flash the BIOS to that of the 8gb or will it work? is there any other way to obtain the appropriate BIOS? Thanks in advance.
Try the amd support site or email them for the right BIOS. Don't use the wrong one or it may brick the card.

Hi Mike! I have the Code 43 error after trying to update my graphics driver. I tried to find the correct BIOS for my card but it doesn't seem to be available on Techpowerup. I have an AMD Radeon HD 8610G card on a five year old HP laptop. Filling out the info on the website I should have been able to choose:
GPU Brand: AMD
Card Vendor: HP
Card Model: HD 8610G
...but that model isn't available. Any ideas on what BIOS I should download instead?
get the driver from HP that is the best option or contact there support for a bios although i would be very surprised if the bios was the issue it is almost 100% going to be a windows or driver issue

That did not worked because you have to boot it windows with the working bios, and just before launching the flash you change the switch (while in windows), THEN you flash the new file on the corrupted OC mode and reboot the PC.
Dual bios is just like that: they have 2 chips, what was shown in video was replacing the working bios with another working bios.
Again: you use the working bios to boot the PC, then switch to the bad position and reflash the bad one, then you have 2 working positions again.

i have a HP Pavillion laptop with an AMD Radeon R5 and R8 card. i have the Error 43 on mine and recently tried an uninstall and a new install from AMD's website which didnt fix it but now my external monitor is undetectable in display settings. not quite sure where to go from here and not too sure if doing this flash would help both issues...
Try using the driver from the hp site and see how that goes. The hp one should be the most compatible one you can get
How can i flash my xfx rx 480 if i cant proceed to windows due to bios code d6? Tried putting rx480 on my 2nd pcie slot while my gtx1070ti on the 1st pcie slot and found out that rx480 has error 43 on the device manager. My question is, is it safe to flash rx480 with the current setup i mentioned earlier? Appreciate your help.
You don't need the drivers installed to flash to the bios so it is okay to try it. Always backup the old bios anyway to reflash if the problem is worse

Hey Mike so i have a few questions, well I have a hp pavilion and I updated the drivers for de grafic card (Radeon r7 M340) and card stoped working it was showing the error 43 or something like that and I tried to re install the drivers with some older ones put the error is still there, so if is possible for you to tell me, will this process work for me ? And what are the odds for the process to fail, because its my brother`s PC and I don't wanna damage it, thank you (sorry for my broken English)
Try to remove the drivers completely with DDU then install the drivers only from the hp site

if you have the original ROM backed up then yes you can flash that one back, but you might need to use another video card in the system or use a APU or onboard graphics to do so

Issues: install drivers thru AMD website wont work... it's program keeps saying I don't have the correct gpu and/or there is a mismatch. on device manager it says code 43... i have no audio... and games don't play correctly at all....
