Dude! Thank you so much! My RX 470 wouldn't install AMD drivers and was getting Error 43 in DXdiag. I've never flashed a gpu Bios before. Made it SUPER EASY to follow. You also saved me from having to find a new GPU for my recording rig. I re-flashed the existing f21 vbios, and it worked. Windows sees my gpu now and can display my monitor at the proper resolution and Hz. Liked and Subscribed! Now I just have to fix that wobbly fan. THANKS MAN!

Not only do you need on board graphics from the motherboard, your CPU also needs to support it. Great video btw!

A weeka ago I bought a RX 570 4gb from Gigabyte, it was really cheap because it used to be a mining card. It has mining bios mod in it, because of that I can't update the radeon driver. Thanks man for making this video, now I can update the driver after flash the original bios.
@bixirulo previous owner used it for mining and said the bios has changed, and I can't install the amd driver from amd website. The owner gave a driver with atikmdag-patcher so I can install the gpu driver.

My RX470 8GNitro+ has Vbios switch. The BIOS suddenly got corrupted, OC mode was showing white noise and in Silent mod no driver was getting installed(error 43). Flashed a stock bios in silent mod switch and recovered. Then I understood the stock bios I flashed in silent switch (towards IO port) position is the OC bios and not its silent bios. Will it create a problem later and does OC bios and silent bios both need separate flashing?
I have no experience with that particular card but yes it sounds like you need to flash again with the switch flipped.

Some vendors may provide BIOS update utilities for the recent GPUs that came out in 2020, but I think this video is about re-flashing GPUs that are older and may no longer have active/official support, so good to know!
this man is a saint. i thought i got screwed out of a $200 radeon rx 570 but the guy failed to mention he had modded bios on it. i was getting .8 fps on my 3d graphics benchmarks 😂😂💀 im going to try this and hopefully the card isnt just fried.

Hey, my Subsystem ID doesn't match the one on the Techpowerup page. The last number on mine is a 0, buy the one on Techpowerup is a 2. I know I chose the correct BIOS since there's only 2 available (Hyphenix and Elpida) and mine is Elipida.
Hey there . i can tell you what you need to do .... from the Refine Search parameters click on the Gpu brand then choose unvervied uploads . you will mostly find an identical version of your gpu

Great tutorial! but what if my CPU doesn't have integrated (aka. onboard) graphics? should I flash the vbios via a usb?
It might work if you have a second gpu to used that one while reflashing the bricked one. (Have both of them plugged into the mb)
very useful considering that the card eont even work for gaming now that AMD put something in the drivers to prevent it from working if the bios has a mod. You can download a earlier driver version. They made the change around the time forza 5 launched, so if you download the game ready drivers for the forza 5, I am pretty sure that you can game on the mining bios. The lower GPU core is not helping these cards. We need to get them all flashed back so us gamers can FINALLY use them.

We were deep into it, until prices crashed in 2018 and the DAG file became too big to get a decent return with GPUs - now you have to use ASIC miners to make money mining Ethereum.

the BIOS version on my current GPU is xxxD2; the TechPowerUp BIOS is xxxD1. Should I concern myself with the BIOS difference if everything else (i.e. Device ID, Memory Type...etc) is the same/aligns?

Ok, I loaded a ROM that seems to be not the one my GPU needs. I have a saved backup of the original bios it came with(bought from miners) how do I flash it back to it? The problem is that the monitor gets no signal from the GPU, I tried plugging the monitor to the motherboard and still nothing. When I remove the GPU, the PC works again using the onboard graphics.

How do i get it back to before?
Edit 1: I have managed to enable the onboard graphics while the non-working GPU is plugged in due to some MSI bios changes which forces the PC to choose the onboard graphics as the primary. I get the error code 43 in dxdiag like you do when you showed the wrong bios flashed. Problem is, when I want to use the flashing tool, it only shows my onboard graphics and not my rx 580. How do I proceed now? How do I choose the rx 580 as the one who needs a reflashing of bios? It only shows my vega 11 onboard graphics card.
Edit 2: Never mind, I fixed it. After the steps I did in edit 1, I just had to open the flashing tool again and load image the backedup bios Rom. Then program, then restart and reset the motherboard bios settings back to default so it would then automatically choose the discrete GPU(rx 580) on start up. Then removed the hdmi from my motherboard and reconnected it to the GPU again.
This is for people who freaked out thinking they bricked their GPU permanently.

Hi! I was having the same trouble not being able to force my vega graphics with my rx 570 plugged in, but I followed your steps from edit 1 and finally managed to do so.
The problem I'm facing now is that each time I try to go back again i to the BIOS utility to reinstall my backup file, my computer completely freezes after clicking on "run as admin" on ATI flash utility. Did you experience the same problem? If so, did you find any solution for that?
When i download the ATI Flash form the link in the description the UI is just a cmd tab. How can i get the same UI as your ATI flash
Because you downloaded the DOS version... try again - get the Windows version

Wow! Got some serious issues there. I don't think a BIOS flash will fix your card - I think it may be physically damaged.
Hi, i have a problem with my GPU card. No signal on BIOS entry, straight drop me to the Win Login screen. Maybe the VBIOS can help? AMD 5600X, MSI Rx 580 Gaming X 8GB. I have only HDMi display device - Hisense 55U8QF and old FHD Samsung TV.
Gotta find a way to bypass that card while it is plugged in. Might need to do it on another motherboard and display, but that's the only way.

I tried flashing my gpu but at first it said it is mismatched so I programmed it again with my backup rom which was successful. after rebooting, there's no more display.
Your hardware is damaged I would say. If you found the correct ROM online and it is mismatched, that could mean it didn't match the program of the logic chip, however, an incorrect ROM can also give a mismatch.

I think it's beyond what a BIOS flash can do, but you should try if you haven't already. Sorry man

Some graphics cards have a manual switch that must be activated first before it will accept the ROM. I know some versions of the RX580 had this... there was a jumper you had to move in order to edit the BIOS. Just research your model or see if you can find such a BIOS switch.

Quick Q - What about the Bios switch, do i need to flash the bios in both positions ?
I believe the BIOS switch is a safety switch that is there to prevent or allow changes to the BIOS, so when flashing make sure it is enabled.
i bought a second hand RX580 nitro+ 8gb, and silent mode bios was running at 1120mhz and 2100mhz memory..... i think that is wrong, so i try to flash the right bios
Have you checked out the gigabyte rx 6600 bios? I'm trying to look for it and found it but the GPU memory is set at 500 mhz. Why? The card's max GPU speed is over 2500 mhz. So I can't figure out why tech powerup has their VGA bios memory set so low.
Dude this video is like 6 years old - tech powerup's list might be quite outdated by now. It's been a HOT minute since I had a flash a video card. I would check gigabyte's website for the proper source files for the BIOS. The tools however should all work just fine for the flashing process itself.

Okay i bought used asus r9 380 and it was mining but when i changed bios and installed drivers, they couldn't install no matter which bios i install i get error 43, is there any fix ?
I am not familiar with that error. So you cannot even install drivers for it? Does Windows recognize the device? I would check the device manager first. If it shows that it is there, even with generic drivers, then run Direct X Diagnostics. If you are dead sure you have the correct BIOS and it still returns errors in DX Diagnostics, then you might have a physically damaged card. The heat from mining can do that.
i'm trying to unbrick my zotac 3090 Ti , it has dual bios but no switch. can you explain how i can reflash the bios, i've been looking everywhere but still no fix. I'm using another gpu to boot up the pc for now

Run some hardware diagnostics. You might have an issue with the hard drive, memory, or something on the board. The GPU shouldn't crash the system. If you can, try another machine.

I have a 8gb asus strix 480 but when I look up the the device iD it shows in gpuZ on google it says that number belongs to a sapphire rx 480 8gb nitro plus, does anyone know why this is? Could it maybe be that the card is actually an sapphire card but with an asus cooler and backplate (I don’t think this is the case because all the rgb stuff and connectors seem to be connected properly
Not sure about that one. Try flashing with your best guess of what the ROM should be and check again. I have never encountered that situation.
I tried to flash a few Roms but the problem is that when I try to flash an strix bios it tells me it is the wrong subsystem ID (gpuZ tells me the same) so I can’t flash a single one of the strix rx480 Roms available on techpowerup (bdw I also looked on the pcb to see if it maybe was a sapphire card with a strix cooler mounted on by the previous owner but this is not the case) so right now I can only flash roms that are made for sapphire cards and none of them work correctly (144hz doesn’t work and i can’t use DisplayPort. Gaming performance seems fine tho)

Gpu-Z says 'BIOS reading not supported on this device.' and then ATIFlash says 'Cannot find discrete ATI video card.' I guess I'm screwed... The GPU I'm trying to fix is an old RX570 4Gb used for mining. Tried running these programs through my onboard Ryzen 2400g output since the RX gives only black screen and the PC won't boot at all. By the way, both HWinfo and gpu-z read the discrete card although with incorrect clock speeds. Is there any hope for this card or should I just toss it in the bin and be done with it? :')

Could the bios of my gpu be ruining the performance it was running fine for a while, now it's running half of the speed it used to, tested on a different system, however yesterday it ran fine, the day before had that same problem and the day before it was running fine.
I am not sure... but flashing certainly will not hurt it. There could be other issues causing that. The BIOS is but one factor.

I'm having some trouble finding the correct bios for my card. I have an Asus dual OC RX 580 8gb, with the device ID 1002 67df - 1043 0597. But i can not find a matching ID if I put in the specs in Techpowerup, all the dual oc's i find end in 21...
It's a pretty extensive list but doesn't include every BIOS. Check the manufacturer's website in that case.

Do you have integrated video in your motherboard or a 2nd PCIE slot? Sometimes you load the wrong ROM and you can't boot the computer. It's probably actually booting up all the way to the login, but you can't see it since the GPU is bricked. To un-brick you need to plug the monitor into another video port either on the motherboard or another card. Go back and try again - look very carefully at the ID, memory clock speeds, and brand of memory. All must match what GPUz displays. Flash again. I had to flash a couple of mine 2 or 3 time to find the correct one.
The ryzen3600 does not have intergrated graphics sadly

First, check the card using the Direct X diagnostic tool shown in the video. If it shows any errors, the wrong BIOS is installed. Make sure all numbers match up and when you load the correct one, run the Direct X diagnostic tool again and it will show no errors.

Yes that is correct - it will still flash the BIOS all the same. Just be sure to use the correct file

Bizzare indeed, but I would say your card is fine. Double-check the BIOS specs with GPUz and if all checks out, update the drivers.
so if i plug up this gpu i have, and i dont get an image on screen, is it a dead gpu and am i screwed? i dont think the guy screwed me over, i even have the flash drive with the stock info to flash over. i just cant see anything how youre able to. any idea?
You need to load it up on a machine with a working video card, preferably integrated graphics, then you can properly look into the issue.

Yeah I'd say check GPUz and verify whether or not it is the correct ROM. It probably wouldn't hurt to re-flash the correct one, even if it is what you already have. Then try again.

Well, there are a number of reasons it might have quit displaying, but you can find out by using your computer's onboard video if equipped... if not, find another board with an onboard video or plug in another good card alongside the bad one and follow the instructions in the video.

Well first off, just because they are both RX570s doesn't mean they are exactly the same. They likely have different brands of memory installed into the GPU and therefore each needs its own ROM to match the hardware inside of it. You can do all of that from what I show in the video.

Hello, this is a long shot, i just bought 2 GPUS rx 480s they are both like that 580 once i boot up the fans kick up to 100, is there a way to flash it and have the stock fan curves??
Yeah, that's what this video is all about. However, the fans may be kicking off for other reasons. Try the flash first. Could be a driver issue or a temperature issue! Good luck!

I think you'll need a compatible video card to boot Windows, with the R7 installed alongside. I am not aware of a Mac version of the TechpowerUp software, but check their site!

I bought an artifacting GTX 780 that can't launch games but can chill in the homescreen and in youtube. Will flashing the correct bios on it fix it, even when the seller (probably) hasn't messed with the original bios?

Some other program is making those changes. Are you running any graphics tweaking software? Even the Radion software can override the drivers installed with Windows.

Run DirectX Diagnostics and tell me what it says. Once the correct BIOS is loaded, delete the drivers and re-install.

In this case, you'll need to use onboard video, or a 2nd, known good, video card. Boot up with the display coming from one of those alternative sources and then flash.

My guess is that card's BIOS has become corrupted or damaged.

I am not familiar with that configuration but yes, you should be able to just use the other bios
Is there a workaround for mismatched ID , I been trying to reflash my rx580 after I did a deep clean and repair and trying to get the card to read a recent xfx bios.
You can load the BIOS onto the card if it is mismatched; it just might not work and you'll have to do it again.

I suspects my ZOTAC GTX 970 BIOS chip to be faulty because I had stability issue and after rewriting the same firmware from TechPowerUp it fixed the issues for a while but then it came back again recently. So I have a few questions.
What are the possibilities? Does that seem like a faulty BIOS or clock chip?
How to check the BIOS with a multi-meter if it's faulty?

I have a 1050ti i must dowhload nvflash for to found it and to flash it
I got rx 580 sapphire nitro 4gb, it has silent mode, but performance mod is modded for mining, when i tried to flash it, screen just froze, that happend first 2 times(i reset pc first time i waited half an hour and it boots up again without problem) on the 3rd try i got it to flash, when it froze for the first time, i though i bricked one bios. Do you know what could be the problem. Asking out of curiosity, it works now👌
That's a first! Could be the computer you used or the card! Hopefully it was the PC and not a defunct card!

Hi, I have an AREZ RX 560 2G no OC, a guy changed the BIOS and I said no but It has not created a backup of original BIOS...
Now when driver is installed, the screen begin blue and freeze.
Please can you tell me where can I have this original BIOS? I tried on techpowerup and official website but without results.

mine crashes when i run ati utility even if i run as admin, screen flashes green then goes black with comp still on
Definitely a problem with the video card. A BIOS flash may not fix it as I think there is something physically broken on the board. Try the GPU in another PC or as least another known good GPU in your current machine to verify
@@MartyUlrich i ended up having to flash it with a software update app from the website but also had to use msi afterburner to reduce some settings for the new software to work right so far so good ty sir

what if i have another gpu and i have crossfire. if i brick one.. i can use my other gpu and recover the one i mess up on right ?
Yes that is correct, just make sure your display is connected to the known good one.
