  • Ordered cheap bearings from China titled "SEBA TWINCAM ILQ-11 Minature Ball Radial Ball Bearings Good Quality Skating Bearings ABEC-11". The BS description aside, are they any good? The price was just €12/$13 with free shipping for a full set of 16 bearings.
    I compared them with the cheapest bearings from the local discount store (NILS EXTREME ABEC-5) and high quality Rollerblade SG-9 bearings.

    This bearing is good . I have them for almost 6 months (black rubber seal). I use it on daily basis for commuter downhill with lot of slides ( magic and pararel)

    They are definitely not ILQ-11, but to make the comparison more accurate you need to compare a couple more factors: Are they lubricated with grease or oil? The ones I got from China are both greased, all the bearings I got with skates are oiled, this does make a big difference for free spin. Did you do the review after the break-in period of ~20km? Especially grease takes long to break in. But most importantly, free spin doesn't equal rolling performance, in fact a badly lubricated old hockey bearing will have "nicer" free spin than most brand-new bearings. So for a good comparison, something like a free rolling test from a ramp would be more suitable.

    There is no such thing as ABEC 11

    Twincam does produce ILQ-9 as top end... I bet they would laugh their socks off if they would hear "ILQ-11" )

    So if I spend $799.99 (cats cheetah bearings) on bearings for triskates I get wings on my feet

    I like the shots with the interesting houses in the background, very nice architecture. Are the bearings really from TwinCam - are they 6-ball? Free-spin test without any loading is not meaningful for comparing bearings, how they perform under stress and heat in combination with the axle and lube is more relevant for inline.

      From actual skating I can say the Powerslide TwinCams ILQ-7s I bought in Germany are waaaay better. Compared with cheap ABEC-5s on my left skate with Aliexpress bearings on my right, the Aliexpress ones rolled a little bit better ... with emphasis on a little bit. I can do some objective tests while skating; any suggestion how?

      @SingaporeSkaterSam 8 лет назад

      Chayka City Skater I asked if they were 6 ball, I've since seen the website and these so-called ILQ-11s are 7-ball (i.e. not Twincam). The ILQ-9s sold on the same site do seem to be 6-ball Twincam and if so that's a very good price! For objective test you'd need a lab... just going out and rolling is fun but hardly scientific unless you're putting in enormous mileage!!

      Good observation. I opened up a bearing and it's 7-ball indeed. I filmed it. Update video next week.

      Free-spin tests are not meaningful at all. Some of abec7s, that came with my Fila are not spinning without a load at all now, but there are still normal on a road. I think that a set of free rides from some small hill will be rather useful for comparison...

      SingaporeSkater No, he can tell from riding on them, because after skating, you would pull the bearing out and shake each one & see if they rattle, or are loose, spin it with your finger & feel any scratching or pits in the races, or he could also, skate through some water, let them sit for a day or 2 & see if they were really rust proof by opening them up looking, & spinning to see if any corrosion. It blows my mind that they are able to get away as selling fake stuff under the real names. I am going to tell Twincam & SEBA about the bearings & the Street Invaders that they sell that look identical! Believe me they are not the same Quality! Thoughts anyone?

    so whats the deal with this Aliexpress?I found some pretty good deals there,but is it really worth it?Found some matter juice wheels with ilq9 bearings for 50$/8.I also found ceramic bearings,and i'm quite new to inline skating,but i didn't find much info about these.Are the ceramic bearings just for speed skating or can they be used in freestyle skating with tricks?

      The bearings I got from Aliexpress are okay. The problem is you cannot trust their descriptions at all. Also the feedback is often five stars since most consumers don't know how to test bearing (heck, I don't either). If you don't mind average bearings, Aliexpress could be the best options. If you require better quality I recommend a reputable brand.

      It really depends. Don't buy US or European brands there, they are all fake. Chinese brands can be good, but it's like Pandoras box, you never know what you get. E.g. 2 out of 3 sets of wheels I ordered are crap. The 2 sets of bearings are okay for the price, but not super. Other things can be excellent or better than you can get here, e.g. electronics or motors, because they are mostly Chinese products after all.

      @@Alex-kr7zr what is so bad about the wheels you ordered? And does it match the description?

  • @rasmusmller625
    @rasmusmller625 3 года назад

    I'd expect the differences to lie in how long they last before becoming loose or clicking. Most of us won't feel any free spin differences while skating.

    Tighten your ankles and NEVER weigh the inside of your foot while skating. You will have lifetime injuries and foot/ankle issues ...... Always weight the out side and cinch up your ankles TIGHT !!! Please folks don't hurt yourselves while doing healthy activities. If you ride on a steep angle the skate is plowing like a skier slowing down ..... Outside weight keeps the wheels vertical and coasts WAY further on way less effort
