Have watched many tutorials on fog and this is by and large the best one. Could bear to slow down a bit but I'm a beginner and new to this but was able to pause and follow along. Definitely a much better render than I was getting before in Cycles as other tutorials are focused on Evee. Thanks.
if you keep it the simple 4 node way, and dont like the fog strands, you can just make the white part and black part on the side, and change the white to a darker gray so you can see better

i dont know if its because i use blender 3.5 but my fog doesnt behave the same at all. The Y rotation doesnt make mine more or less in volume (or the height whatever you wanna call it) with the colorramp. It literally just changes the color to black fog :( i did everything the same as you, could you maybe help me?

It works... Kind of. I had to tweak the density VERY LOW like 0.0002 and the other values at an equal level. But very subtle.
