I can't believe you don't have more subs - all your content is quick and to the point, and the production level is top tier! Not a library, but Surge XT has to be the most comprehensive free Synth VST out right now. The modulation options are nearly endless, and CPU load is low. The Krakli instruments are free hidden gems too, especially Arminator (maybe the best CS80ish plugin out there), K1Ks, and Cygnus.
@dillpring that's kind of you to say. It's a relatively new channel, so as long as people keep sharing and interacting with the videos I'm hopeful it'll grow to help more people. Those are really great suggestions, thanks for sharing! I'm checking out surge XT right now🤘
Pianobook have hundreds of decent sampler instruments that are completely free and often use strange instruments (there are also lots of full Kontakt instruments as well) Orchestral Tools also have free instruments that you can access in their SINE player. They are excellent quality. VSL also do their own free instruments that use their Syncron Sample engine Native Instruments give you free instruments with Komplete Start. Sound Paint have free instruments that are created from unusual instruments, or heavily processed sounds. Soniccouture has free Kontakt Player Instruments. Ample Sound have a free lite Guitar, Bass, and Cloud Drum in their own player
@@jonasfriedman It might be worth doing a follow up video if you find the sites I mentioned useful, as I don't think that many people know all these are available. By the way, If you haven't used pianobook (it is a UK community based site that is funded by Spitfire Audio) before, be prepared to be blown away by the hundreds of instrument libraries, many deeply sampled, with multiple mic selection.
Happy to be of service as always Andrew! Make sure to check the comments for other awesome recommendations people have been dropping - happy to see/hear this information is helpful
Ooooo that Foundations VST is awesome!! Really usable for adding to textures !! And I had no clue about that free orchestral library from Project SAMs!! Thanks for sharing all these
I used your tension pad already. Thx! I did not had time to explore it, i really just used from the default patch all free Heavyoctiy instruments are top, i used them a lot, There are still other gems of my daily use you (and MArk Spooner) did not mention.... This means i may do a video on free vsts soon ; )
hi Jonas, you forgot the free David Hillowitz decent sampler instruments,an instrument where theres a ton of free libraries made for you can also make instuments yourself with it, a bit in the style of kontakt but all free, and for synth needs there is vital,a very powerfull synth, its free but i bought the 80$ version (support the maker) where you get extra wavetables and the ability to make text to voice waves, cheers
Great video man! And I love your MMC Tension Pads! It's crazy how much quality is available for free these days. No wonder that a lot of companies are having one sale after the other. I bet they're selling less and less...
Thanks so much! I actually imagine they are selling more but I could be totally wrong. I think a lot of free stuff acts like a taste sampler - try before you buy sort of thing. At least thats what I like to think, so so much hard work goes into these instruments from their creators. I think it's awesome there's so much available so that those just starting out have tools for inspiration. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@jonasfriedman Well, to be honest, I HOPE they sell more but with all the offers going on at the moment, it's seems to me that they're struggling for sales. Although I love to buy more myself, I hardly even use everything I ever bought or got. The quality has been so good over the past, well at least 5 years (maybe longer, here's looking at you Symphobia) that I have acquired more than enough to last me 3 lifetimes! Not counting the awesome free stuff. And I'm not even a pro!
My pleasure! I think we all do that…there’s so many amazing sounds and instrument makers today - I constantly have to remind myself to go through my hard drives to see what I’ve been neglecting or may have forgotten about.
Could you do a video regarding earning a living as a composer (for TV, film, video games), best practices on the business side, royalties vs buyouts, etc. please? I feel like this is such a grey area for many. Thanks!
Thanks for this content. As always, great video. Every shown free instrument is fantastic. I especially like The Free Orchestra. I gives a superb insight into the aleatoric, disharmonic realm of the orchestra. That's just the field I discover at the moment. But also the more traditonal patches are great. Although I've got Damage 2 and Nucleus, I still prefer the snares from the Free Orchestra. And with its update it has got even better.
Thanks @jenssieckmann ! I love the free orchestra, awesome to hear you're getting good use of it as well! As always, appreciate you checking out the video and taking the time to share your thoughts.
I downloaded your istrument which looks and sound great but I am having trouble loading it into the full version of Kontakt 7. Any suggestions? it loads black with sone parameters showing and yellow keys.
Hey there - we just tested this on kontakt 7.8.0 and it seems to be loading - please make sure there’s a resources file I. Your download as what your describing happens if that file has been removed from the main folder. If you continue to have an issue email support@modernmediacomposer.com
Thanks @FlartusMenix - my instrument requires Kontakt's full version! Which is why everything in this video specifically does NOT so if anyone couldn't use Tension Pads this way they're not left empty handed :)
