There seems to be a lot of talk about the danger of using splice samples for writing music that you’d potentially sell. Do you think I really need to worry about this?

I downloaded the project sam one, and i have kontakt 8 installed, but for some reason when i put in the serial number into native it said i dont have a version of kontakt thats compatible with the file. why is this and how can i fix it?

I love what you said about pacing. A good action will have careful pacing and the music will be reflective of that. A good example is the Mission Impossible movies. In every movie there's at least one long action scene with different levels of escalation, with some moments to catch your breath also. This one is my favorite example because it has a great build up with mini bursts of excitement until it has a beautiful crescendo at two minutes and fifty seconds. ruclips.net/video/cLQpRdejwAE/видео.html

I started producing ambient and chill electronic music around 2 years ago and during that time I've always been interested in composing for media, but it's really difficult to know where to start. Music is my biggest passion in life and the idea of making a living of it is so surreal and unrealistic in my mind, but it's something I'm willing to fight to achieve for the rest of my life. I'm eternally grateful that successful and accomplished composers like you are willing to help us aspiring artists. I've been doing stuff like this since they first came out with virtual instruments. I never thought about doing it professionally. I guess I should have. 😆 🤣 😂. Stuff like this comes naturally to me.

So many great libraries out there. Damage 2 is great out of the box, but still the one library I would never want to use. Clearly just everybody has it. It’s overused, and I don’t want to sound like everybody else. Also for the price of Damage 2, one can have multiple other libraries and get a broader variety of sound to choose from…and maybe layer.

Advice from personal experience: you have to work on your skills first. Once I had to work with a singer. I was very confident in my abilities, but nothing was done. Because what I produced was not the same as hers and I guess she got the wrong idea of my abilities.

It’s not always obvious. The one you thought could help you turns out to be a dud, while the one you never suspected could help you turns into your biggest alliance.

This is exactly what I thought when I found your channel, when I noticed you actually answer everyone. This is huge, there have (almost) always been a gap between composers who wants to learn so they become good at what they love doing, and composers that are at the top level. This gap is minimal now :)

Wow! Chills up and down right now. I also had to evacuate during the Woolsey fire, around a bunch of other craziness that was going on in my life at the time, and it’s so difficult to explain how much of a nightmare that event was. I think you absolutely captured it here.
