Great video Dom! I think what also matters is you actually play these instruments as they’re intended to be played which adds to the realism. Many musicians don’t realize that you have to imagine you are playing that instrument and know about its scales and what it can and cannot do to make it sound its best.
Bless up Dom. Great vid as per. 2:13 'World Music' is a better terminology imo. its fusion in many of today's genres renders the term 'ethnic' redundant. I'm a sucker for a nice Duduk, Instant goosebumps every time. Great selection highlighted. 'With great musical power, comes great terrabytes of SDD responsibility' lol Liking the image comp on your video, saw this on one of your past thumbnails and thought wouldn't it be good if.......then you brought it to life. Nice one dude!
Fantastic video! I love them all and I have them all, haha. For Part 2, try the Ethera Gold Atlantis 3, Sahara Voices, and Prometheus libraries by Zero-G, you won't regret it. They are among my favorites. Amazing True Legato, lots of vocal phrases, and a lot of passion from the developer, who is a great guy.
@@michaellazaridis942 Yes, to use the Ethera Gold Series ( Atlantis III, Sahara Voices, prometheus ) yuo need Kontakt Full, but are amazing, check for the Stefano Maccarelli videos ( the developer)
Hey Dom, hope you’re well my friend. Just purchased Cubase 13 from logic, your videos are really helping to understand everything in the software…. I appreciate you
Some really inspiring stunning sounds, serious talented fingers Dom, you make it look so easy! Such a great nimble pianist. Something that I’ve often thought about whilst playing string/real instruments via midi, is that it’s often difficult to know ‘how’ to actually play them, in order make the instruments sound more realistic. World Instruments are often a little more complex in technique aspects as well as tunings. I’d love to see some dedicated explanations of different ‘playing techniques’ of these sounds. Brilliant production as always Dom! Fantastic and interesting video.
Hey Dom! Massive fan here ❤🔥 Your video featuring the Rhodope Bulgarian choir VST from a while back was a game-changer for me. I've been a huge admirer of composer Kevin Penkin, especially his "Tower of God" soundtrack. Thanks to your video, I finally found out where he got that sound from. I'd definitely recommend checking the soundtrack out. I think you'd like it a lot. Anyways, keep the awesome content coming and have a nice rest of your day🔥
Thank you friend ... we loved you and we admire you and if you want later with the mandolin we will send you a small bouzouki.... baglamadaki ... stay at the top for us too...!!!
Above all i commented below i am sincerely congratulating Dom for his love for the Diversity of Humanity coming thro his playing itself based on careful listening to various national specific pieces and then reproducing the music and its Spirit throughout this inspiring production. It is a great pleasure to listen and to discover the mosaic of Humanity having Dom as a gifted guide with a Golden Heart matched by Golden Fingers❤🎉🎉🎉
As always a great video, as always (at least) one new purchase ;) I've never heard you play Zero-G libraries, I think they get far too little praise, especially the price-performance ratio. Sahara Voices and Atlantis are definitely among my “world music” vocal favorites
Absolutely , Indeed, @Dom Sigalas you should try Stefano Maccarelli's ( Zero-G ) Ethera Gold Atlantis 3, and Sahara Voices, and why not also Prometheus for male voices. Top Notch !
As a musician from Russia, I'd say that you display a big Russian soul when you play the balalaika! 😊 Upon watching this video, I noticed that themes from the 'Sherlock' movie used an Indian instrument. Wanna see next part! Thank you!
10.47, when you play the 30 piece string section, the them you are playing mostly resembles to my ears part from the main theme of Jesus of Nazareth, by Franco Zeffirelli. Great video as always!! Keep up the great work!!
Cheers for the demo tour! From what I've gathered, most of these Persian and Ottoman libraries do not have playable authentic quarter scale tunings available. Some microtonal articulations in the samples get close but not quite enough.
Hi Dom, please please you could do a video on transferring our steinberg software from the dongle to steinberg licensing ? some seems to work, others dont, and some like my absolute 3 seem to not have the option. I am sure I'm not the only one who is a little baffled and would really appreciate your help. love your videos and have been watching for years :) All the best !
I looked for other videos discussing your physical desk workstation. I would love to know what you did to make your setup usable with that S88 cover, mixer, and large screen setup. I struggle with back and arm pain with a S88 sliding from under my desk and computer above desk with 32” screen on top of desk. If you talk about your ergonomics in your setup, it would help me and probably many others.
'What does 'ethnic' even mean..?' Here, Dom, let me clarify: eth·nic [ˈɛθnɪk] adjective of or belonging to a population group or subgroup made up of people who share a common cultural background or descent. Nothing wrong at all with the word or its meaning - infact, it's very useful when classifying a multitude of musical styles and instruments from around this amazing world. I'm a huge fan of ethnic instruments and percussion, and a fan of what used to be called 'Fourth World' music (a melding of ethnic instruments and music with modern digital music technology). Nice to see these sound collections come under the spotlight - some absolutely staggering ethnic Vsti's around, personal favourites are the Native Instruments 'Discovery' series ('India' is stunning), and SwarPlug4 (all-Indian Vsti - outstanding quality and depth of content).
What you played at 10:52 when you said this is very familiar to me from somewhere. I remembered where that tune is known from! 😀 Jesus of Nazareth from 1977.
Excellent content Dom. Do you think you can do a video on mixing and mastering with headphones using Steinberg's headphone match and comparing it with dSoniq's realphones and maybe sonarworks? Thanks and keep making these very helpful videos.
Hey Dom, thank you for all the videos, i learn a lot from it! 😊 i discocered the following Cubase 13 Problems: The Vocoder seem to doesn't get the right Midi Chord Notes sometimes. And Cubase (13) doesn't add new songs/projects to the index, so it's not possible, to find it with F5 / Mediabay - is that my fault or can you reproduce it?? greetings, Alex
Hi There appreciate your video can I ask i'm looking for a string library that really reflects the older baroque /romantic sounds e.g sounds that aren't too bright/clear ; do you know of any string libraries that you could recommend ?
Dom I'll for ever be grateful for your channel you've not just made me good producer but a unique producer ❤❤❤❤❤when am producing in Cubase my friend wonder how i do it 🙏🙏🙏they all produce in FL studio 😂
As always, a very interesting video, Dom. I didn’t know some of the libraries at all. However, I’m surprised that you’re showing „EW Silk“ but not „EW Ra“. Just didn’t have it on your radar, or do you really believe that EW Ra is worse than the libraries you showed? Greetings from the Vulkaneifel.
Hello, I would like to ask why Cubase does not have this feature?supports ctrl+z operations (recording all parameters of VST), but Cubase is not working. Additionally, I am unable to select multiple tracks on Cubase for unified adjustment (not precise enough). If these two issues are resolved, I will not hesitate to use Cubase/nundo. How did you solve this problem? Adapt to it? Is there a similar setting? You are the most professional and official engineer/music producer I have ever seen on RUclips. Please help me!
Hey Dom, I know this is not related to this video. But I'm having issues with my Steinberg UR816C when I try to use my Warm Audio VCA Bus Comp as an external plugin, the outs from my comp go to the ins of the UR816C but when I run the Outs of the UR816C back into the Comp I get this high pitched feedback look and then the whomp whomp. I'm wondering have you ever experienced a situation like what's described above. Now if I just send the Outs of the Comp to The UR816C there are no issues and send my MPC to the ins of the Comp it works fine same as when I use a Send and Return on my Behringer Xenyx 2222 it works fine. I would greatly appreciate any input you have because I really want to use it as an External plugin. Cheers. Look forward to hearing from you or someone who has Knowledge about routing with Steinberg's DSP Control software
Are there rhythms given by East West or by Gypsy? There s a great number of rhythms in Arabic music...tens of them. Ottoman music has about 22 rhythms. What are the years of these libraries? New Editions as well??
Leaving the taps off the clarinet ... exactly why the Irish wooden flute doesn't have keys for most of the notes, neither does the tin whistle (and my silver flute has holes in the keys (open keys) for much the same reason) and of course fiddle players adjust their intonation/pitch to match songs played in, say, D rather than use the even temperament of a piano, as well as for gypsy music etc. A lot of western instruments (including blues guitar, slide guitar etc.) adjust microtones for expression and temperament. p.s. World Percussion 2.0 is no longer available.
Loved the new library...... All instruments, are unique.... Love from India 🇮🇳🙏
My bank account shakes in fear every time you make one of these videos, Dom! 😂 I love these kinds of libraries. Always inspiring.
😂😂lol
Well... Not if you sail the seven seas.
Beautifully recorded and beautifully played, Dom. A few of these samples would fall flat without your consummate playing skill. Superb!
Thank you for the kind words man!
Even, with a kazoo, you could make something beautiful. Looking forward to part 2.

14:40 Djurdjevdan (Ederlezi), you did your homework :) Great point about blues notes. Lot of 'blues' in Balkan music.
Awesome video btw.

I think that's an OLED TV that he uses.

Per il duduk quale consiglia per realismo e flessibilità: duduk della sonus o della Ilia? Grazie
these first phrases bouzuki riffs sounds like a latin requinto or portorrican cuatro
Incredible.

Maybe VSL in part 2? They have some nice ethnic woodwinds and drums.

Byzantine music has 13 different types of keyboards to cover the whole repertoire. Each keyboard covers a number of modes and possible modulations...

Hi Dom . Where can I find a Kabal sound?Have you got any idea ?
I still prefer the Emu Sound library from the early 90s, they just sound so real.
I couldn’t find the corresponding libraries you’re talking about from your links…ex. the first doduk is where? 🙏
