Gordon has used store-bought items several times to make a point that people can spend less for much better food. Once he bought local grocery hummus just to feed the patrons and the chef admitted it was delicious. I also remember him grocery shopping and bringing back bags of high quality food showing that he could make twice as good a meal for two people, wine included, for the same price as the restaurant charged for a single meal thst didn't include wine.

I love how Chef Ramsay perfectly understands the importance of a kitchen's synergy. Everyone gets paid the right amount, communicates properly, and does their job to the best of their ability. Even if the food is improperly done, he lets them know what the problem is, and how it can be fixed. I may be an amateur chef myself, but I think anyone with that much poise in said situations deserves to be celebrated.

To put it into perspective, $400 a week = $80 for 5 days, or $10 an hour. Meaning, he'd literally be making a lot more money with an easier time at McDonald's.
I'm not 100% sure on how much a McDonald's worker makes, but if it's just as a normal employee than I doubt it's more than 10$. I work at little Ceaser's and the managers make 10$ an hour.

This also does not factor chefs can sometimes work longer than 8 hours a day, depending on menu prep and helping hands which if I recall there are almost none so I'd say he's working 10 hour days 6 days a week at bare minimum.

Gordon has a pretty incredible ability. He can walk into these places and almost immediately recognize the issue. He had a problem with the food, but after only a few minutes he immediately recognized the chef wasn’t the main problem.

And with increasing costs of living, it's borderline impossible to live alone off the paychecks that such a position gets - especially as (at least in many places in the states) 'full time' cashiering or such doesn't exist anymore, so more realistic paychecks end up being just 200-300$ a week. Barely enough to cover an average 1000$ a month rent where I live, let alone eat or have a car or anything of the sort.

This also does not factor chefs can sometimes work longer than 8 hours a day, depending on menu prep and helping hands which if I recall there are almost none so I'd say he's working 10 hour days 6 days a week at bare minimum.

I love how Gordon went on the Chef's side even if the food was bad the moment he learned he was not getting paid . Because he knows if you don't pay your employees well of course they will perform badly.
That was what I was going to comment. Pay them less, the worse service you'll get. That's basic to human psychology and absolutely the first thing you should know as an owner of a restaurant.
Gordon has a pretty incredible ability. He can walk into these places and almost immediately recognize the issue. He had a problem with the food, but after only a few minutes he immediately recognized the chef wasn’t the main problem.

And with increasing costs of living, it's borderline impossible to live alone off the paychecks that such a position gets - especially as (at least in many places in the states) 'full time' cashiering or such doesn't exist anymore, so more realistic paychecks end up being just 200-300$ a week. Barely enough to cover an average 1000$ a month rent where I live, let alone eat or have a car or anything of the sort.
