Just beat the game last week. Man I don't know what to say. This is the best game in the series so far, evening beating out the ending for CS2. Haven't played CS4. Anyways, the CS games don't really have a climax except for the endings. And just like in CS2 you spend half the story reuniting with class vii. In this game it felt there was a climax where it was supposed to be (usually at the midpoint of the story). The part with Juna in crossbell. If you're out there wanting to get this game, my advice is you should probably buy Rean's unspeakable outfit. Combine that with blonde hair that you unlock in the game and you make Rean look like Cloud Strife from AC lol. His OG outfit in this game makes him look old and does not fit him at all.
So i have yet to play cs 3 due to rl reasons but i will probably start this month and am looking forward to it. Other than that i have been wondering who is the strongest mc in the trails series and in my experience of having played all games till cs 2, i made this list. *spoilers* 1.Kevin Graham A grailister and if he uses his stigma, he should be able to put a fight against the lance maiden and mcburn. He also killed the wiseman so thats something. 2.Rean Schwazer I think without valimar and with his awakening, he can probably one up many of the strong fighters we have seen, an example is when he beat crow and was gonna overpower rixia in cs 2. 3.Estelle Bright Its been a while since i played sky but i cant recall her performing any remarkable solo feats. But she is an A ranked bracer and hence is definetly stonger than the fianl position holder. 4.Loyd Bannings Well he is a detective and is also not even the strongest of his team(says that randy is stronger) so here it is. He is more of a guy that is stronger in a team. Ofcourse this is only based on my knowledge which extends to cs 2 and it will probably change when characters get stronger in 3 and 4. If i am wrong in the bounds of cs 2 then please correct me. Also i hope that falcom makes a remaster of trails of the sky with 3D sprites as i personally preferred that series over CS.
Thank you SO much, I seriously needed this video after having no idea where the plot's supposed to be going after Sky :'D I had no idea the "great gods" in the first Black Record were supposed to be Sept-Terrions and was pretty confused about the Great Power and the Divine Knights and how any of it was supposed to connect to previously established Trails lore :P
I didn't mind the epilogue because the boss at the end outright says 'Don't worry, this isn't story relevant, we just wanted an excuse for you to be able to use all the characters at once', so I treated the end as a goofy fanservice episode.
Man, I'm going to have to go on a Trails blackout online tomorrow. I _need_ a PC port to be announced... I don't have the money to get a new console, let alone one which is coming to the end of its cycle in the PS4.
Did you at least catch up via the Sky trilogy and Crossbell duology fantranslations? Now's a good time to get started with the latter with the new edited english fan patch on geofront.esterior so close to launch :p

Well to clear up how Erebonia won the struggle for Crossbell after the Azure Tree disappeared, the beginning of the Intermission made it clear: Rean along with the presence of Panzer Soldats overturned the stalemate between the two powers, resulting in Erebonia's victory.
You missed the point. I was asking how Calvard didn't just invade Crossbell first, given the Civil War was STILL HAPPENING for several days by the time the Azure Tree vanished. It's gone before the stuff with Infernal Castle even happens. Falcom makes no attempt to explain why Calvard didn't just take it first while Erebonia was too busy.
I've gotta wait till my copy comes in the mail, lol...Ordered the special edition from NISA, got confirmation of shipment, but just have to wait....it's killing me! XD
Man, I love to play Trails from Zero but the English version is not out yet, but hey The Geofront is now in testing phase right? can't wait to play it once it's out for everyone
ninjawarriorz17 if you’re really in a rush to play the crossbell games, there is the old translations for Zero and Azure, the translations are not the best but it’s enough context to know what happens and playthrough the game.
Just finished trials 2 and I had no clue who lloyd was besides hes the star of the Crossbell arc,I was laughing so hard like wtf lmao and chancellor Osborne being alive and reans dad shocked me...but I guess tales of azure come out in September so yay lol
Bracers and Police try to stop a terrorist/cult wannabe illuminati. The wanna be illuminatis are then defeated by the Bracers, defeated by the police and in Cold Steel defeated by High School students. What a bunch of losers.
You should make recap videos for the other Trails games too! I will be starting the series at Cold Steel 1, and would love to watch a recap of the 5 that came before
Heh I can't wait to properly get started on CS3. Played a little yesterday night but I hardly did anything in Chapter 1 yet except talk to a few people so... There are already people out there who have had the game for a few days (aside from reviewers, I am talking early deliveries) and are fairly far in who are like "This game really throws all the stuff at you." so I am intrigued to say the least.
I'm confused, what did Vita think Caynenne was going to do if he wasn't planning to stick Cedric into the mech? Did she think he was just a helpful guy that set this whole thing up so that she can see Rean and Crow fight and once it's over he'll return the prince and pack up. I'm genuinely confused and don't understand that happened in the finale. She forbade him from sticking Cedric into the machine but sat back and fought with Crow to protect him while he had Cedric blindfolded in front of the machine she forbade him from putting him into... and it didn't raise any red flags. What was he going to do if not place him in there and how did he control him once he did?
Literally got home last night to find my copy of 3 sitting outside my door...didn't even get the e-mail saying it was shipping until this morning lol. So excited! Also, Mishy plushie!
You know, as someone who didn't play the "Crossbell Arc" (still not sold on the whole tedious process to play the "unofficial" English release of that Arc), it was EXTREMELY INFURIATING when Rean finally learned who his father is (i.e. Osborne), but then, they NEVER followed-up with a much needed "father & son" conversation OR even HOW Obsorne came back to life (I predicted him to return after the events of the 1st COS game, but I STILL can't figure out HOW he came back to life? Resurrection? Travel to the past to change events? A clone? I don't know...). I just hope COS III explores and give us a PROPER explanation on all that (and not just expect us to read and play everything, including "Japanese-only" games to say the least).
As many have already said: Play crossbell, not just because it has information that is relevant to CS3 but because they are by far the best games in the franchise. Zero is the best Arc-opener and Azure is the climax of the first 5 games. I doubt it was hard for Osborne to survive the shot through the hard with any of the universes plotdevices: Artifacts, Supernatural Powers, being some kind of vampire/demon, not having a heart at all or some other easy to believe stuff. He also knew it was coming so he even had time to prepare and fix the response to his "death".
@@luminous3558 yep Ao no kiseki is probably my favorite. CS 1 and 2 kinda suck compared to the liberl and crossbell arcs. Just started CS3 and already feels pretty good though.
Totally agree about the CS 2 ending being just super weird, like especially considering everything that had happened and what Rean was going through, some of his friends would absolutely not leave him, its so poorly explained and so out of place its hard to believe. Especially considering some of them had no reason to leave whatsoever, like Alisa, suddenly wanting to join her mom and of course she makes a general manager in a year... o.O. On top of which how freaking genius, talented and prodigeous must everyone there be to not only finis two year school in one year, but also in some cases finish another school in a year and find a job by the start of CS 3. These kinds of details, how everyone is important and related to someone important in the story, makes me really pissed at times, it just takes me out of the plot, its all convenience, not hard work and luck.
You keep saying to play the Crossbell games and I know the geofront translation is coming out for Zero, but how are we supposed to play trails to azure???
Well I just finished cold steel 2. I binged 1 and 2 in literally 4 weeks. It took close to 200 hours. And I'm actually really sad. That first ending after the first final boss with the "I'll remember you" song, still makes me cry just thinking of it. I didn't even LIKE crow. But something about the tragedy of his character, and the way his relationship with rean was written so earnestly, just got to me. As did rean. I did NOT like rean. At all. I felt like he was the most overused, tropey, gary stu, anime protagonist ever. But the divertissement epilogue really punched me in the gut HARD. Like, here's this upbeat, optimistic kid trying to find himself - aaaand now he's a military asset betraying all his ideals that were built up so carefully over 180hours of game time. These games dragged a lot, the final-final dungeon was completely unnecessary, some mechanics/quests/dialogue were utterly annoying. But in the end I am more intrigued and invested, even emotionally than I ever thought I'd be. So I'll start the sky arc as soon as I can... after playing some lighter games. I've got the atelier dusk trilogy waiting for me on my new switch :D
I know some people don't like CSI and II, but honestly, your problems with the epilogue in II are the only problems I had with the two games. That and Towa seeming to be the only one who realised where Rean's mental state was. The fact that the rest of Class VII seemed to be oblivious of it really irritated me. The game would have been so much better if they had just let us imagine Class VII finished their second year of study without incident. There are problems with that from a storytelling point of view, but so many less than the route they went with. Edit: There's something else we know about the Gnomes... Namely that one of the characters we have constantly come into contact with has the initial G and the surname Nome...
They couldn't have made that part about the nome thing any more obvious if they tried lol. I definitely agree about what you said about Rean's mental state. All these people he's around constantly and 1 out of all of then noticed it. I saw that scene with Towa and was like how in the holy hell did nobody else notice that? It was obvious if you just look at how rean was acting and what he'd been through. I would personally have liked if whoever you chose as Rean's partner had a scene with him that was something like what happened with towa and they pull Rean aside and he breaks down to them instead. Would have given whatever relationship you'd built with that person have more meaning
@@historian252 Honestly, it's like arguing with a child. Okay, I can't force you to watch the scene, but at the very least, ask yourself this one question. Why does Rean end up breaking down in tears with Towa, and not any of his Class VII classmates?
@@historian252 Yet more argumentation from the 'I know you are but what am I?' school. Sheesh. Like I said, there is a lot more to the scene than that. I can't make you watch it, but in order for your argument to hold, none of the other characters would ever have brought Crow up to Rean, which in itself would demonstrate the point that _no-one other than Towa recognises Rean's mental state._ That's how ludicrous your argument is. Even if that clip was as utterly one dimensional as you believe, it would still destroy your claim.
@@sharriefflhamilton586 last I heard (earlier this year) is that there still wasn't a way to play Ao no Kiseki Evolution in English, but it might be possible to play the PSP original version in English on a Vita? Not sure. I play the Crossbell games on PC only.
Heroes journey is not a theory ffs its a trope or basic template that has been retold throughout human history in different cultures even when unrelated ffs
gamerprince1999 This is why literally every Kiseki fan constantly says play the crossbell games and even if you know that, there is much more to experience than just knowing that specifically.
Well it's technically not really a spoiler since u ARE suppose to know the story of the Previous titles before playing Cold Steel 3 since it incorporates all the knowledge of the crossbell and sky games
I'mma be real here, what's the point of playing all 10 games in order when videos like this exist? It's 22 minutes long, it's probably packed with a lot of stuff for people to remember. Unless you play the entire series no stopping until the most recent game, I will assume you're a genius or at least someone who has really good memory. I read in an article that all of it is at least 658 hours minimum. Can anyone actually remember all of that including side quests? Without looking at a wiki, of course because that defeats the whole point.
I started playing all the previous games since Sky FC last year and just finished Cold Steel 2 last night. The point of the 10 games is to get immerse in this world Falcom have created. Their worldbuilding is the best in the industry IMHO. Just like for example, the Games of Thrones or Star Wars Universe there's tons of plot points that benefit from getting revisited and taking a second look with context of the whole story known so far. There's tons of videos on youtube doing that as well. The point of this video for me was to refamiliarize myself with the plots that are going to be relevant in Cold Steel 3.
3:22 "Cold Steel 2 essentailly ended; by which I mean it went on for another 5 to 10 hours" Yep, sounds about right

*spoilers*
1.Kevin Graham
A grailister and if he uses his stigma, he should be able to put a fight against the lance maiden and mcburn. He also killed the wiseman so thats something.
2.Rean Schwazer
I think without valimar and with his awakening, he can probably one up many of the strong fighters we have seen, an example is when he beat crow and was gonna overpower rixia in cs 2.
3.Estelle Bright
Its been a while since i played sky but i cant recall her performing any remarkable solo feats. But she is an A ranked bracer and hence is definetly stonger than the fianl position holder.
4.Loyd Bannings
Well he is a detective and is also not even the strongest of his team(says that randy is stronger) so here it is.
Lovely video man, totally forgot some of these really important things!
Getting it day 1. Can`t wait!
@@krimzonstriker7534 I'm waiting for Geofront's Zero translation to be finished. At least with no PC version available, I won't have to put off playing CS III whilst waiting!
@@Afterthoughtbtw The translation currently available is already very good, I played it - 2 great games, trails of Azure is my favourite of the whole saga so far, and the characters are just amazing
@@Alycefly Hard agree. Ao is such an insanely good game.
@@Alycefly Which should I start with? is Zero no Kiseki same as Azure?
11:50 I mean, falcon could always end on a sad note. Take FC for example. Remember how crushed we were when that ending by the bench happened?
may go and play the trails on the sky series again. Cold steel 3 releases on the 29'th here
Damn you have to wait another week? That sucks
@@KillScottKill well, there was something about anti-immigrants, right?
Nice video! Many parts of the Great One's lore is an enormous reference to the visual novel Fate/Stay Night.
I've gotta wait till my copy comes in the mail, lol...Ordered the special edition from NISA, got confirmation of shipment, but just have to wait....it's killing me! XD
I got confirmation that it shipped the same time it was delivered to me so it's probably already at your house
Thanks a bunch, man!
There is that one corridor in the castle by Legram that we never go past in the story could that be a divine knight and Laura it's awakener ?
And coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2020
@Anonymous seriously looking at getting the crossbell arc and using fan translations like I did for Valkyria Chronicles 3
@@360Blader thanks I found one for the first one and playing it now.
Just finished trials 2 and I had no clue who lloyd was besides hes the star of the Crossbell arc,I was laughing so hard like wtf lmao and chancellor Osborne being alive and reans dad shocked me...but I guess tales of azure come out in September so yay lol
Do you plan on making another refresher video for when cold steel 4 comes out?
Tells us to seriously go play the Crossbell games. Leaves no instructions on best way to go about doing that.
Garden gnomes was just a front their true form is much more sinister
What is the song playing at the 11:00 mark?
Can you do an explanation for the first 5 games ? I started with Trails of cold steel not knowing it was part of a larger story.
Bracers and Police try to stop a terrorist/cult wannabe illuminati. The wanna be illuminatis are then defeated by the Bracers, defeated by the police and in Cold Steel defeated by High School students. What a bunch of losers.
CROOOOOOOOOOOOWWWW!!!!
Are you going to make a refresher for Cold Steel 4?
You should make recap videos for the other Trails games too! I will be starting the series at Cold Steel 1, and would love to watch a recap of the 5 that came before
Heh I can't wait to properly get started on CS3. Played a little yesterday night but I hardly did anything in Chapter 1 yet except talk to a few people so...
There are already people out there who have had the game for a few days (aside from reviewers, I am talking early deliveries) and are fairly far in who are like "This game really throws all the stuff at you." so I am intrigued to say the least.
ty
Thank you professor scott Schwartz
You gonna do a refresher course video on CS3 before CS4 comes out
I'm confused, what did Vita think Caynenne was going to do if he wasn't planning to stick Cedric into the mech? Did she think he was just a helpful guy that set this whole thing up so that she can see Rean and Crow fight and once it's over he'll return the prince and pack up. I'm genuinely confused and don't understand that happened in the finale. She forbade him from sticking Cedric into the machine but sat back and fought with Crow to protect him while he had Cedric blindfolded in front of the machine she forbade him from putting him into... and it didn't raise any red flags. What was he going to do if not place him in there and how did he control him once he did?
not finishing diversment story and epilogue becoz my brother sold it before i finish it
Wondering, are you kinda working on the same thing for the IV? =3 Cheers
All we need to know is that Rean got 2 big perk:
-Newtype Pilot perk from Banagher Links
-Harem MC perk from Ichijou Raku
No crossbell playlist?
Really waiting for cold steel 4 like people wait for Avengers Endgame
Theory, isnt the engineer in ao a gnome?
Literally got home last night to find my copy of 3 sitting outside my door...didn't even get the e-mail saying it was shipping until this morning lol. So excited!
Also, Mishy plushie!
Don't just spoil something like that
You know, as someone who didn't play the "Crossbell Arc" (still not sold on the whole tedious process to play the "unofficial" English release of that Arc), it was EXTREMELY INFURIATING when Rean finally learned who his father is (i.e.
어느정도 상세하게 설명하시는 리뷰인듯 ㅎㅎ
I really hope Nis dosnt take 2 years to port CS3 to pc
You keep saying to play the Crossbell games and I know the geofront translation is coming out for Zero, but how are we supposed to play trails to azure???
There's a translation for Azure as well but its not Geofront

@@KillScottKill Thanks Scott!
enroll? Bro, we graduated and are now teaching at Thor's Campus II what're you even talking about? Enrolling...
@@historian252 I think you might want to rewatch that scene with Towa. There's a lot more to it than you are suggesting.
I can't make you watch it, but in order for your argument to hold, none of the other characters would ever have brought Crow up to Rean, which in itself would demonstrate the point that _no-one other than Towa recognises Rean's mental state._
That's how ludicrous your argument is. Even if that clip was as utterly one dimensional as you believe, it would still destroy your claim.
Osborne duped everyone like chess
Is there anyway to play trails of azure in English
There's a fan translation, though it's a bit rough.
While its rough here and there, the whole game is pretty much readable. So don't let ppl say otherwise.

@@Ty_Jac It's better than leaked Zero, that's for sure. It still needs a lot of work.

Well damn thanks for spoiling Randy's backstory..........................
gamerprince1999 This is why literally every Kiseki fan constantly says play the crossbell games and even if you know that, there is much more to experience than just knowing that specifically.
@@benpregent Point taken, I stand corrected...
I just saw Rixia's ass so I'm starting from the very beginning because something else is standing.
