  • This is an European American Armory (EAA) Witness pistil chambered in 10mm. Full size steel frame with a hard chrome finish. Double action/single action design that can be carried cocked and locked like a 1911, or DA 1st stot like a standard DA/SA auto. It`s very similar to the CZ 75 pistol.
    These are made by Tanfoglio in Italy and imported by EAA. The Witness pistols are made in many configurations and several different calibers.
    End of video shout out is for ovi1013.

    I own 3 of these Witness pistols. All of them steel frame. A full size 9mm, and both full size and compact 10mm.
    All 3 have been reliable. I did change out the recoil spring on the 10mm. Thought it was a little weak for full power 10mm loads.

      I believe they come with an 18# recoil spring. I upgraded mine to a Wolff 20# to shoot the hot Underwood ammo. Mine's been very durable and is amazingly accurate. They're a little big and a little heavy but it's my favorite handgun.

    I bought one of these about 3 months ago and have put probably 600 rounds through it. Nary a hiccup, no matter what I fed it. This is a solid, quality pistol and I'm delighted with it. According to EAA, this one takes 14+1 rounds. I bought 3 extra magazines and while it's too big for a concealed carry gun IMHO, it's definitely one that will get the job done if called upon no matter when or how it's used. The 10mm round hits hard and this gun treats this round like it's no more than a .45ACP. Stays on target, absorbs the recoil exceptionally well. Really happy with it.

    "decocking" this weapon is a nervous affair but that's how I always carried it, decocked and locked. I love how these point and feel in the hand and the triggers are just fantastic. I think I also have a pair of these 10rd ban mags.

    I had one of those also in 10mm. Slide cracked after about 2,500 rounds. EAA took care of it with some exceptional customer service.

    Very cool, I guess its like an over grown CZ-75. Reminds me of the Bren 10. Nice to be able to cock and lock it, that is rare on DA/SA pistols. 15 is a good capacity for a 10mm, at least it has the potential. Dam mag limits suck lol. Good vid shep!

    EAA imports guns made by several different, and unrelated gun manufacturers.
    The Witness pistols are made by Tanfoglio in Italy. The SAR is made by some outfit in Turkey I think. The revolvers are made in Germany. Most of the EAA imported rifles and shotguns are made in Russia.

    I`ve been shooting 10mm almost since the round 1st came out. To date, I`ve accumulated 11 of them. This one, plus a compact 10mm Witness, a pair of Delta Elites (one standard, one in a race gun) a S&W 1006 and 610, an Irwindale (AMT) Javlina, a Glock 20, a Para Ordnance/Colt hybrid custom, a Star Megastar, and a Colt Double Eagle.

  • @darink300zx
    @darink300zx 11 лет назад +2

    Tanfoglio does make them with accessory rails. Most of the newer models have them. They also do polymer frames and compact models. Check out EAA Corp's website their catalog lists all the models and like I said most have accessory rails. I actually wish the Elite Match I just got didn't have a rail, it's a match gun, why does it need a rail anyway.

  • @1957Shep
    @1957Shep  11 лет назад +2

    It is basicly a CZ pistol. Slightly bigger with a few design changes.

  • @1957Shep
    @1957Shep  11 лет назад +2

    It`s about twice as powerful as the 9mm. A hot loaded 10mm get close to the power of the 41 Magnum.
    The 40S&W cartridge is based off of the 10mm auto. The 40 S&W round is a shortened 10mm brass loaded to lower pressures.

  • @1957Shep
    @1957Shep  11 лет назад +1

    The 10 round mags are not easy to convert. The 15 (full size) and 12 (compact) round mags (10mm) can be had from EAA for $40 each. I had just never gotten around to getting any of them.

  • @1957Shep
    @1957Shep  11 лет назад +2

    12 rounds in the full size Witness is the capacity in 45acp I think.
    12 rounds is the capacity of the 40 or 10mm compact.
    The compact has a shorter grip frame than the gun in this video as well as shorter slide and barrel.

  • @hot2warm

    It`s the same basic design with a few changes. The Witness 9mm & 40 S&W is about the same size as the CZ 75. The Witness 38 Super, 10mm, and 45acp is built on the same design, but sclaed up a little for the bigger cartridges.

    are you able to to convert the 10 round mag to be 14 or more? so you like eea weapons? i've not heard much about them but did come across the following from my favorite vendor on gunbroker & thought the prices were nice too. EAA SAR ST10 9mm went for $401. EAA Windicator 38 Special .38 SPCL 2" went for $290. EAA Zastava PAP P.A.P AK 47 7.62x39 MM Rifle went for $690 few months ago.

  • @1957Shep
    @1957Shep  11 лет назад +1

    For one thing, it`s larger. The standard CZ 75 isn`t big enough to chamber 10mm or 45acp.
    Think there are also some other differences, but off the top of my head I couldn`t tell you what they are.

    $400 for a used one sounds kind of high, but the mags are $30-$40 each new. So maybe not so bad.

  • @metalandwood4u

    I had one like that and it jammed alot until I dremel polished the slide ramp with the polish compound. I put a video or two out there. Was critizised for my bag of mystery ammo but that wasn't the problem. The gun I had like this un this video was a 2004 production. I loved it but did not love the 3 or 4 Jams per 14 mag load. It was accurate.

    • @Rscottphillips

      Did the gun ever jam again after you polished the feed ramp?

    • @metalandwood4u
      @metalandwood4u 5 лет назад +1

      Scott: you know. It never did jam again. I never used the orange magazines and the feed ramp was like mirror polished and it fed great. Though I might have only shot a hundred or so after it was polished.

    I've got 2 witnesses, in 10mm, love both of them, I run hot ammo as a regular diet threw both of them, never have had a problem. I would buy a hunter if I can find one, prices are going up, plus you can't find them just any where.
    I highly recommend witness,plus I have a 45cal in witness, performs flawlessly too, now it is the truth that in all guns you may find one that you may have problems with it, its the luck of the draw, so I did luck out with all 3.
    I also have a 1990 Smith & Wesson 10mm. But it has never been shot nor will it ever , its a safe queen, 28 years old now, so I guess you can say I do love 10mm's, LOL,,,,

    How does the grip size compare to a S&W 59 with a thick Pachmayr grip? I'm selling my 9mm 59 because of that and the PITA takedown process. If not for the take down I might keep it, but that's just too many cons for one pistol especially a run-of-the-mill 9mm. My 59 is pretty accurate though. No complaints there.

      Also replaced the recoil spring. The spring that came in it was kind of light. But back then there were not a lot of hot factory 10mm loads around.

    Had a bad experience with EAA. Purchased a 10mm witness in 2019 and it’s strange double recoil spring failed. When I tried to purchase a replacement spring I was told that they no longer provided parts for the weapon. It is now an expensive paper weight. Buyer beware!

    • @1957Shep
      @1957Shep  2 года назад

      EAA doesn`t manufacture guns or gun parts. They are just importers for several different manufacturers from several different companies.
      For parts contact the actual manufacturer or try www.gunpartscorp.com/
      Midway www.midwayusa.com/ and Brownell`s www.brownells.com/ probably also carry common parts like recoil springs, both factory and after market.
      Wolf Springs makes springs for just about any gun.

    • @chief121
      @chief121 2 года назад

      @@1957Shep I’m just warning others of this issue. EAA is the company that imports the parts for these weapons. If you are familiar with their site you can search for parts by submitting your firearms serial number. As far as the manufacturer (Tanfoglio) they are even less responsive. Neither one of these companies can provide the recoil spring. As far as your suggestion to contact other companies to find a spring that works I’ve exhausted that avenue. There is no one that carries a double recoil spring. It is essentially a spring within a spring.
