They had already renewed Grimm before the episode aired. Grimm loves itself a cliffhanger. They wanted to make sure we kept coming back.

I don't Adalind would have joined Nick. As far as she is concerned. She lost everything because of the Grimm. Her, mum and Renard but also the Hexenbiest in her. Veneage makes people do things they maybe wouldn't usually do. I do love Adalind though. Her story arc is so good.
Back then, most of the shows on air wouldn't just be cancelled without notice, they'd at least get a warning before they wrapped up, so they definitely would've known they were coming back before they even shot the remaining episodes of the season. Even, when they were given their final season, they were told it was going to be the last, so it was easier back then to plant little seeds, take your time with the story and end with great cliffhangers, etc, than it is nowadays where shows are cancelled after one season or so, or without warning. I also really miss the 22 episodes seasons, you could really have good adventures, great character development, good world building, great payoffs and great character attachment, all of which is lacking in most of today's television, but then I grew up in the 80s-2000s, where all that was still very much a thing. I still very much respect the shows that still try to go that much further these days, I'd rather have a show that looks dodgy with great writing, than vice versa, but it seems that that's what today's demographic would rather have. The only down side to season 2 in my mind is the stupid narrator for the intro credits on the first few episodes.
OMG YES! I got so giddy to see you reach the finale! The surprises and turns this episode took was amazing. Watching you get so excited for Juliet to finally find out the truth and then seeing you shout, "Fuck off!" for the big reveal at the end of the episode exceeded my expectations lol. Yes Dakara! Perfect setup for Season 2. Ooh, I can't wait! ❤👍
When you first started watching this show, despite how it wasn't immediately grabbing you, I knew that once you got to this specific episode, you'd be hooked. The fact they just left us with ZERO answers whatsoever (and if anything, more damn questions!!).... pure evil! I don't know if they *knew* they were getting a second season when writing / filming this, but the second season was announced (iirc) 5 months after the pilot was aired, so there must have been some idea that maybe they would.

The stuff with Juliette this episode left me fuming as well, but can't deny is the most cliffhanger of cliffhangers. Basically half of the characters have something going on rn
They definitely knew they were getting a second season & I think the structure works out well, it's a proper cliff-hanger & does make you want to watch the next season. Just imagine how bad it was for those who watched it back when it was first being aired, the wait would have been brutal. The way they teased Juliet finding out only to have her faint at the big reveal... evil!
As for Adalind, would you really expect her to side with Nick given he was the one who killed her (Hexenbiest side of her)?

Now you know why some of us kept defending Nick for not telling Juliette. It's hindsight. Really, I'm glad they had Juliette not believe him because it's the most realistic outcome. Think about it: somebody tells you that there's a whole impossible world out there. I think most people's knee-jerk reaction would be to reject what they are being told, even if it's coming from a loved one.

😳 And so we have the blowing up of Dakara's mind... such a good reaction to a great finale that set up what's to come and "sort of" gave us the reveals/resolution to some things but then to have things dashed (thanks Adalind...) and then we get the killer of Nick's parents showing up..... and then Nick's mother... great reaction as always, D! Definitely cannot wait for S2... and the jumpy Dakara/needing new underpants moments were great and worthy of a CTU from me today.... lol Keep em coming!
I'm really enjoying your reactions to this series. One thing really I enjoyed about season one was it being a slow burn on the bigger story within good episodic stories. It just allowed for really good overall character development while spending time on Nick really learning who he is now. Good character development creates a greater bond or personal investment with each character. This series surprisingly doesn't have a large number of reactors on youtube. A shame as it's so different and original. I'm currently on season 6 on my fifth run through the series. It's my current bedtime series.
Adalind wouldn't side with Nick simply because he wouldn't trust her. As Monroe said, you date a Hexenbiest at your own peril. In the Wesen world Hexenbiests are feared and even Grimms are a little hesitant when dealing with them. They aren't very trustworthy creatures and they explain later on why a Hexenbiest is so dangerous. Glad to see you're enjoying the show. Everyone I've ever recommended it to has gotten hooked on it. Hope you enjoy the ride.
yea they knew they had season 2 at this point they planed story archs for at minimal 3-4 seasons

I just hate how Nick gets so excited about telling her he just dumped everything all at once on her. He was telling her about all these monsters and showing her weapons with out paying attention how overwhelmed sue looked. He Kept talking with out even giving her moment to process few things at a time

There is so much wrong with this episode. The final suspect has come for the coins and that is okay. Adalind's mother should be using her power for the potion they are making. Adalind adds the blood from the syringe demanding that her mother focus as Adalind does so. Once the potion is done Adalind applies it to her cat's claws. Juliet is scratched. The suspect attempts to attack Sean at his house. Sean holds his own in the fight, but allows himself to be knocked down when his officers arrive. When Nick gets upset over a cat scratch Juliet figures she has the final thing she needs to justify leaving Nick. Nick does not ramble at the trailer, but only goes through the list of Wesen Juliet has had direct contact with like Adalind, Monrow, the Ogre, Bud, and the Wesen at the cabin. Juliet passing out at Monrow's is good. Adalind is seen boarding a plane as Nick arrives at her place that is now empty. Monrow gets the cat to Rosalie. The crossbow is stupid. Nick should be trying to subdue the suspect to arrest him. When Nick's mother shows up she just kills the suspect. It would be good if we see Nick's mother have a thing on her phone with the suspect as her primary target and primary mission of retrieve and dispose of the coins.
