Honestly same, the fact that this movie is almost all parkour makes me not care about how confusing it is lol. As long as they keep jumping on things all crazy like I won't ask any questions
This movie, with Belle, and Howl's Moving Castle, are my prime examples on why we shouldn't think about the plot of anime movies and just enjoy the vibe. Because there are always so many questions unanswered.
I think the general plot closes pretty neatly. The open questions all relate to the bubbles. Why did they appear? What? How? Etc. The answer is a mystery because the phenomenon is truly alien and beyond our comprehension. Though the bubbles have some form of intelligence obviously. Hence: the girl. The movie reminded me of Stalker/Roadside Picknick and Annihilation.
I would like to put out there, I completely agree, however, Howl's moving Castle was a book then a movie. If you read the book it answers all the questions the movie didn't
My understanding of Uta is that she like the little mermaid fairy tale because she relates to it. She loves a human “prince” who she is destined to leave. She knows that she’ll dissolve into bubbles if she pursues him, like what happened to the mermaid. For example, in a lot of Cinderella adaptations, the Cinderella stand in just experienced something similar to the original fairy tale. But, Bubble was a lot more heavy handed in its references.
This movie is really important to my sibling, who has SPD. They do the same thing with the headphones, and when I rewatched it that time with them they felt so validated and related so hard the entire time. It really means a lot that people are getting this movie out there, so thank you so much for the video Edit: I’ve got sensory issues so it makes me kinda happy that people are vibing with this comment 😂
As someone who might have SPD (we haven't tested to see if I do or not) I feel the same way. When I rewatched with my family I realized I relate to Hibki in the way I need headphones to help me from hearing to much nose and I feel better taking them of in a garden.
i do as well the one thing i find pretty annoying is that at the end the creators essentially cured him and used the shittiest excuse ever like "he didn't find sounds painful anymore" thats doesn't make any sense but overall i did like the spd rep in there
So the writer is Gen Urobuchi: The UroButcher. This man is famous for his series having just the bloodiest third acts. The fact that this DIDN'T end in a full on massacre actually surprised me. Like this man is responsible for Madoka Magika and Psycho-Pass. He does not usually hold back.
The bubbles were her sisters, and they started the apocalypse because Uta saw Hibiki and liked him. And due to the fact of that the sisters started the bubble rain. And the reason Uta keeps talking about the little mermaid is the parallel that the actual story of the little mermaid is due to her love for the prince she dies. And for Uta if she were ro be able to love and touch Hibiki she'll degenerate into the bubbles or suds. Which is why the little mermaid thing is always mentioned. And Utas big sisters (the red angry bubbles) hate Hibiki so much
I’m so glad that someone actually was able to understand the final act of the movie because I understood it too and it just made the movie so much more amazing for me. And yes, I did cry when uta died in the end
Got to admit the only drawback I have with the movie is that it reminds me how people tend to forget about the actual ending of the Little Mermaid. She dosen't die, she turns into a daughter of the wind. Giving her a chance to gain a soul by her own mean. Though got to admit I think the movie allude to that in it's ending.
@@jharris3110 That's the most popular ending but not the original one written by Handerson. If you want I can provide videos of youtubers that goes into it better than me.
For anyone curious, this movie looks like it's about Parkour & romance, when in actuality it's about the existentialism theory that the past & future don't exist, cause everything is the present. But also that time/life is like a river thus beginning & end actually existing. Which can be drawn from the spiritual belief of reincarnation. Children of the sea will definitely help u better grasp, Bubble.
For all that people say this movie falls apart, I legitimately don't care. It made more than enough sense to hold itself up, and to be honest that's all I really look for. I just saw it for the first time, and this movie was incredible. Edit: Also am I the only one who understood what they were basically going for and accepted it as soon as I saw the evil twin bubble?
Less then a minute in and I have literally paused this video to go watch this movie. Either the movie is horrendous and I’ll be back to laugh at it with everyone. Or it’ll be amazing and I’ll be back to marvel at it with everyone else
Finished the movie finally. And it’s fucking amazing! Absolutely loved it. I get that it doesn’t “make sense” at the end. But it didn’t make sense at the beginning when bubbles 🫧 just appeared everywhere and took over Tokyo. It’s beautiful, action packed, and doesn’t really give a fuck if you understand it or not. Plus…really weird coincidence but the song that the mermaid in the movie was singing. The song that the main guy said he barely remembered. It was so creepily familiar to me as well. Could not figure what was happening for the majority of the movie. Why I remembered the song just like the main character did. Then towards the end, I remembered. It was the tone that the doorbell to my childhood home made. Which was hella creepy for it to be the main theme of this movie. Obviously the doorbell didn’t just break into a pop banger every time someone pressed the button. But the core notes. Those were exactly the same. Makes me think that maybe the creator of this movie had a similar doorbell. And it inspired them to make the song. An old barely remembered tune that they couldn’t place. Either way this is an incredible movie.
It’s not that she’s making the book her life, it’s that she’s relating to it. The bubbles calling her home are her sisters, the Prince being the person she loves, how the mermaid wasn’t scared of death. The book is literally her life, it’s like readying a book and realizing it’s about you.
This movie had me so confused the whole time. It's such a wild ride! Everytime the animation switches up it's so jarring lol, when it happens to the dude he looks so real, but when it happens to the girl it's like shes an anime girl hit with that hit with that moving image filter lmao it's kinda scary
Me: wow im having a rough time, struggling to get to sleep, ovecome by a random wave of sadness i cant quite identify Danny: *posts a video* Me: NEVERMIND LIFE IS AWESOME LETS GOOOOOO
This had the same disappointment to me as Belle. A lot of random story telling that just really didn’t go anywhere. Belle the visuals and music were phenomenal but the story… left a lot to be desired. I’m a sucker for beautiful animation though and will often overlook plotholes because ✨shiny✨.

10:01 "Hibiki... Bring me their eyes. Their... Their eyes, Hibiki. I want their eyes." This gave me these vibes: ruclips.net/video/nG2pEffLEJo/видео.html
From this video alone, my theory is that maybe the Little Mermaid in that world was based off of Uta and her family, species, whatever the bubbles are, the little mermaid was based off of an event that happened to Uta or another bubble person before, and in that world, the bubbles had been coming, for years and years and years, but it was only recently that the bubbles got so intense that it lead to the events in the movie, or something like that anyway.
Honestly I low key wish you would react to children of the whales on netflix. I never ever see anyone talk about it but its such a ride and has one of the saddest deaths I've ever seen.
I assume the bubbles came from space since in that one flashback where we were in Uta's POV (when a bubble from her touched Hibiki's nose) we saw Earth from space and came down to it. So, like, I dunno, maybe the bubbles are remnants of some destroyed world or planet and they came apart and together again on Earth and wreaked havoc. No idea why Hibiki's singing made them angy tho So, in other words, this is "Bubble aliens destroy Tokyo because a small boy sang like shit", I guess
I dont understand why everyone is confused about the story, i get it fine. Main character can hear the bubbles because he has a condition, he communicates with a bubble while in tokyo tower so the bubble moves out of formation. Bubble overlord isnt too happy about that so she tries to explode the interference, that fails so she puts a barrier around tokyo to stop the interference from escaping. Bubble that MC talked to saves him and it irritates the Bubble overlord again making all the red bubbles more frequent.
I am SO HAPPY SOMEONE IS FINALLY TALKING ABOUT THIS MOVIE!!!! Omg I loved this movie, vibes alone, I can’t believe Danny is reacting to it this makes me so happy, purely because I didn’t think he’d ever react to it
I mean... in Evangelion, we never really find out where the angels came from either, but we don't care about that plot point either, do we? Besides, I was too busy crying about Uta dying to care about the plot whatsoever! 😭
I'd never heard of this movie but it was in my Netflix recommends so I watched it on a whim. I can't say I absolutely loved it, but the parts I enjoyed were so good it was definitely not a regretful watch. There are so many questions I could pose about the goings on in this movie, most of them starting with "Why...?", but ultimately I didn't care because it didn't really matter. This very much came across to me as an all that matters is the here and now kind of movie as well as an excuse for the animators to flex like mad and I was here for it. Also the main theme is a freaking earworm that hasn't left my head since.
I saw your thumbnail and watched the movie since I'm staying somewhere with Netflix and watched this vid after. Thanks for the grand recommendation and free serotonin :)
Yeah I agree the story and plot is pretty confusing. But literally everything else about it is EPIC! The music, the cinematography, the action, and ESPECIALLY the animation is all AMAZING! Even if I was left with more questions than answers at the end, it was a great movie from an artistic view and I LOVED it!
“When the river ends…it keeps going” By me…I just made that up but for people who don’t understand what i said-when someone dies, it doesn’t mean there not there (I don’t believe god SO PLEASE DONT BE MAD AT ME! IM NOT LIKE BELLA THE WOLF I PROMISE!)
it hurts to think how much money they wasted making this movie hell I would have been fine with a short anime film just about bubble parkour but no they just had to make a whole movie by the way if you see this Danny don't be afraid of taking breaks when you need them :D
the movie felt like Netflix told their animators that are locked in the Netflix basement that they were gonna make a 12 episode anime and then 3 hours before the premier, told said animators that it was actually a movie.
Speaking of Bubbles. I highly recommend Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop. Great art style, a touching story, and sweet moments that will leave you choked up and teary eyed.
I really thought the movie was a lot more mystical than it seems, like the bubble found sentience with the little mermaid, but you also continuously see the spiral ( Fibonacci sequence) which is known to be in sacred math, it was like the universe was testing the human heart and it's ability to love. It lowkey was his fault, but only because he was literally chosen by the bubble. The raining bubbles at the end was definitely a take on creating peace though, for sure.
Why do i get the sense that the bubble girl found that humans weren't that bad as the bubble originally thought and wanted to stay but realised they were hurting because of the bubbles and when she read the book she realized over time she would have to become the bubble in charge to save everyone the die doing so cause thats the vibe i get from it idk
I also only managed to understand the movie the second time I watched it, but after all her bubble sisters are calling her to come back and the song is their call
The bubble apocalypse happens because the girl, in bubble form, liked the boy, not caused by the two, but by ... bubble society?.. she refers to it as her sister, which is the next direct reference to the book. The bubble apocalypse ends because the girl... convinced?.. took over?.. won the Civil War over Bubbleworld?.. calmed down the anger of the red matter?.. I'm more concerned with the landscape around Ground Zero. The giant sphere collapsed and I was certain that it was filled with water. The ocean was rather high up inside the bubble. Unless you tell me that the oceans around the world did rise this high.
Lol great video ,i lol-ed SO hard. 😂 As far as the plot, it's all metaphor and subtext for a sad twunk parkouring his problems away with his "pirate friend" until he meets a girl he actually likes. it's only a summer romance but nice while it lasted. having tasted heterosexuality for 2 months made him feel more "normal," and his "survivor's guilt" aka imposter syndrome let up enough for him to be high functioning by the end. Thank u for listening to this ep of *Fujo Film Theory*
Bubble reminded me a lot of Weathering With You you should check it out! It’s a similar apocalypse related to weather and a girl but it makes sooo much more sense and I love how it ends
I don't understand why everyone's so confused about the third act or thinks it fell apart, that made complete sense to me, like I totally get why this series of events happend.
If you want gorgeous but needlessly confusing anime movies watch "children of the sea". You should also watch "maquia" because it's one of the best anime movies ever and no one talks about it.
Woulda been a great series cause making it a movie rushed the plot. There's many side characters and relationships that needed more development. But overall i say it a fun 6/10
Let me answer your questions this movie is about a boy who is alone and hates loud sounds who is the only person who can jump on bubbles during a game the game is you have to get the other teammates flag if you fall in the water you lose if the other teammate gets your flag you lose at this point Japan is an illegal place to be in so basically this is an illegal game that kids play for fun. No the guy did not start the apocalypse he was outside of an extremely large building and saw the first bubble to fall the bubble was the girl who grew a liking on this guy he touched the window when the whole Japan flooded in bubbles. Years late he still hates sound and participates in this illegal game he’s been hearing sound from the red tower confusing him making him think something or someone is up there as he attempts to go up he falls due to pressure of the tower falls into the ocean as a train is passing under the water the bubble sees him as he falls making her worried. She follows him into the water to try and save him no clue why but she sees this poster of a pop star that was popular before Japan drowned in bubbles and water so she somehow turned into the idol saves the boy by doing cpr in the water. The boy and girl grow close though the girl finds out she will slowly turn more and more into a bubble when he touches her which scares her one day she tries going up the tower and exchanges herself to the “bubble god” for Tokyo to be normal again of course the guy did not want this so she saves her though slowly turning her into a. Bubble this scares the boy making him land onto a rock by this time the girl is basically a bubble making him cry since his love is basically dying. She turns into a bubble saving the whole Japan and getting rid of the bubble closing them in there. THERE THATS THE END
Honestly same, the fact that this movie is almost all parkour makes me not care about how confusing it is lol. As long as they keep jumping on things all crazy like I won't ask any questions

There was an all out civil war in bubble world. Billions died on both sides.

I swear you need to start your own abridged series
That’s the dream
But first react/watch SAO abridged by Something Witty Entertainment

I love your cross sunglasses and the new character that comes with it
3:20 smooth jazz as you parkour through Japan?? Hell yeah.

Amphibia, infinity train, kipo also

I wholly agree with dragon Prince. That's the next binge that Danny needs to do.

In parkour civilization your jumps determine everything
Why do i get the sense that the bubble girl found that humans weren't that bad as the bubble originally thought and wanted to stay but realised they were hurting because of the bubbles and when she read the book she realized over time she would have to become the bubble in charge to save everyone the die doing so cause thats the vibe i get from it idk
yo! Danny has the best taste in shades!

The bubble apocalypse happens because the girl, in bubble form, liked the boy, not caused by the two, but by ... bubble society?.. she refers to it as her sister, which is the next direct reference to the book. I'm more concerned with the landscape around Ground Zero. The giant sphere collapsed and I was certain that it was filled with water. The ocean was rather high up inside the bubble. Unless you tell me that the oceans around the world did rise this high.
4:24 when Danny said terorist my video froze
Yeah same getting through the last 30 minutes really felt like a chore and i was on my phone when parcore wasn't being crammed down my throat
Love the angry chicken voiceovers
I love the silly reactions you have lol
Lol I loved your reaction 🤣 Her song curse!
For me this movie felt like it should have been a 12 episode show instead of a movie still good though
If nothing else, this had a *really* good OST. track 2 especially is fantastic
The visuals and the parkour was enough to stay through 2 viewings so far
Bubble reminded me a lot of Weathering With You you should check it out! It’s a similar apocalypse related to weather and a girl but it makes sooo much more sense and I love how it ends
Yo the Danny chicken are phenomenal like the bloodshed they crave.
I'v been waiting for you to react to this!!!!!
I remember watching this after seeing it on your tiktok and I *wept*
Danny really does have such lovely eyelashes
I don't understand why everyone's so confused about the third act or thinks it fell apart, that made complete sense to me, like I totally get why this series of events happend.
I was not expecting to cry watching this. But I did.
If you want gorgeous but needlessly confusing anime movies watch "children of the sea". You should also watch "maquia" because it's one of the best anime movies ever and no one talks about it.
Maquia had me bawling 😭😭😭
L love how beautiful it is and love the songs
This made me tear up at the end a year ago in now😊❤😢
