With the marriage proposal scene. I think he only said that to make her cheer up. I’ve heard that doctors dealing with terminally Ill kids will say yes to romantic proposals just to please the kid since they don’t have much time left and it helps gives them a semblance of a normalcy. (Take that with massive grain of salt bc I don’t remember where I saw it)
No you’re right, I have no clue if in the sense of the anime that’s what he did but that does happen quite often to real life. They never do anything with the kids when saying yes, all they do is verbally agree so that the kid is happy
@Frahamen 16 was the official age of marriage in Japan when the manga was written (it changed to 18 in 2022). Saying that she had to be at legal age before he married her was probably why Sarina called him a "moralist" in the episode. But I agree that since he was her doctor he knew that she would die before getting there and most likely just wanted to comfort her.
yeah tbh it seemed it made it clear he isnt attracted to her. but after taking care of her and her condition for so long, he held hope she would make it to the age of 16, and it seemed he himself believed she can make it through. of course she didnt and if i have to guess that was his first casualty as a doctor which is why he continued watching this idol for her instead. since this idol is what ruby always wanted to be, and what gave her hope to keep going till the end. for AI it seemed he only idolized her rather than crushing or simping looking back on it. and him idolizing was fuelled by tragedy in a way AI's potential shined so bright it didnt just give hope for ruby, but gave hope for aqua the same time.
@@partygamingz3332It may also be a “She likely won’t make it until then, but saying this will make her happy.” That’s probably it (in my opinion) because, if it’s unlikely she’ll make it, it’s unlikely that she could be disappointed if she DOES make it. Like a, “She probably isn’t going to make it. Let’s make her time left happy while we still can.”
Quick fact: Ai’s full name is Hoshino Ai(星野愛). Which can be read as ほしいの愛(roughly translated to “the love I want”). Which hurts more when you realise it.
no it's not hoshii-no-ai it can be read as hoshi-no-ai which would translate as "the love of the star" though i don't think star in this context would mean celebrity but rather just star in the sky
I wouldn't know how common pregnancy is, but idol culture in Japan is seriously effed up. Fans go ballistic if idols even date. They're all about them maintaining "purity". Edit: Oh no, he needed his emotional support plushies 😂😭
@@darladay4766 it's not just the idol community either, just the celebrity scene, I mean Levi from attack on titans va had to make public apologies for getting married and having kids, due to all the death threats he and his family got.
@@noel2641 Okay, that is SUPREMELY messed up. Death threats for getting married? And HE had to apologize?! I agree with him doing it because safety for him and his family come first, but those people need to get arrested!
@@darladay4766 To be honest, I’d say Japan is the worst bc I hear so much about female idols being stabbed or killed (I have 0 ideas about China btw). But as a Kpop fan, at least idols haven’t been murdered for dating. There have been “fans” that want idols to lose their jobs just for marrying or even dating someone. However after one case, it does seem to be getting better because more idols have been coming out as married or dating in the past few years with less problems than before that. It’s still happening, but certainly better compared to the 2010s
@@RShonta I'd also recommend IDOLiSH7 as it shows the effed up sides of the behind the scenes/production of not just the idol industry, but different sides of the entertainment industry as a whole
I really actually like the beginning? Not to say it's not creepy. But it makes sense when you consider the message it's trying to make. The way these two start of being obsessed about a person they basically know nothing about. And when they actually get to know her and care for her as a person, they are mad about the people seeing her as two dimensional as they themselves had at some point. The show is basically confronting Japan's idol idolization with the reality. That all them are people with their own stories. And how misleading and damaging obsession over people on screen can be
Exactly, the only problem is the part of the rooftop scene where the show (and manga) itself (using the coworker) calls Goro out for being creepy. Without that it would be way easier to dismiss any negative feelings towards him (although probably not totally for everyone because that's just how the mind works).
@@undercoverfangirl5491 I mean I don't think goro was a creep. He was just traumatized that his patient died so he wanted to carry her interests through him. She looked up to ai as everything she never was and never could be. She never could be just a child, so when she got reincarnated she acted as a child.
@@dariusbyrd8829 I feel like Danny would've been way less turned off of the show if not for this scene, and if he'd been spoiled on Ai's death like I was. I went in to the show only knowing that Ai dies, and it made basically the entire beginning more interesting and heartbreaking, along with making any potential creep factor feel way less important because I knew she'd die before anything like that could go anywhere. This might be one of the few shows where a spoiler could improve it, imo
I never really interpreted the doctor as actually having feelings for Ai, maybe it’s just me? It just felt like he worshiped her like most idol fanbases, that kind of worship is creepy but it kinda felt like the point. But before his death and then after being reborn as her child, he grew to actually care for her as a person.
Danny isn't used to idol culture, so for someone outside the know about how creepy the fans can be, it just seemed like a dude with an obsession with a minor for no reason.
Yeah it's definitely more realistic. Yes it's creepy, not denying that, but he isn't in love with her in that way. He's an obsessive fan that sees Ai in a 2-d way. When she's brought to his office it's that starstruck-ness of "she's really real! how is this happening" and then he talked to her and got the feeling that she's a real person not just an idol on TV. It's a transition from "ew creepy fan" to genuine admiration
@@realbedo Idol culture can be creepy and the doctor was toeing the line..but Japanese culture has love and admiration like 2 sides of the same coin. So he was a fan but on in a wanna date her kind of way. Like how people know they will never have a close relationship with a big celebrity.
Yeah, he said multiple times that he would support him from a very pure standpoint. This reactor's understanding is wack, or he was just trying to find points to bash this movie on to create controversy.
I could just be coping, but when aqua gets older I always liked to believe that he considers his past life more of a different person, and his current obsession with finding his father seems less weird and perverse to me. He seems genuinely effected by her death in ways that a child would be, not a grown adult, and thinking about it that way makes me feel better at least haha
Yeah I've been reading the manga after the episode came out, he does say that as he grew up, a line between who he used to be and Aquamarine is growing into a wall. He mentions having infantile amnesia and similar stuff as well
As someone who recently read the manga and would like to break everyone's hearts a little more, I will share this knowledge I learnt: After Ai's death scene, it's mentioned that when the police finally came, they shielded Ruby from seeing Ai's corpse. However, Aqua then says - and I quote - "but I was right there, feeling her body gradually grow colder".
Wait wait wait. Pause. Back up. How did Danny literally predict the end premise of this movie? "Are we just a time skip away from this dude becoming a full on murderer??" HOW. HOW DID HE DO THAT.
FR!!! when he was watching banana fish he deadass went “it kinda seems like banana fish might be a drug and not a person.” LIKE BITCH. WHAT. HOW. WHEN. WHY. WHO. 😭
The stars in their eye are figurative, it basically represents how much star power(as in a idol , actor or model ) they have , which is why the 'North star ' that represents ai also died out when she did.
He only said he will "Consider" it to Sarin to make her feel better and loved because her parents...well let's say they were not the best at it. Straight up rejecting her even when she didn't even have much of a life to live is what made him say that and why he got so attached to her, he failed her and through idol worshipping like she did he thought to carry on her aspirations. His adoration towards Ai is driven a LOT by this guilt and trust me, he needs a LOT of therapy for it. Im going to say this twice, because he NEEDS a lot of therapy.
In case you also check the comments here, I would like to give you a none-spoiler insight into his character. All of the adoration/attraction shown by him isn't sexual in any way, it's exactly what a fan has towards their favourite celebrity. A better term would be what weebs have towards their favourite katana or music fans to their favourite album/music. Idol nature is selling yourself as a product and a source of entertainment. Carrying this on, a lot of this show tackles how disgusting, dark and depressing the idol industry is, with a LOTS of negatives. While Aqua has 0 interest in her as a man, I think like 90% of male fans do for their idols. It's very bad. This crazy stalker fan is only the tip and well most physical of the metaphorical iceberg here. Through Aqua's revenge story will you see how the industry operates, both good and bad, and see how his character is essentially permanently haunted by Ai's death. He cannot be happy. For the third time, he needs SO MUCH THERAPY. To sum it up, neither Aqua nor Ruby has or had any sexual attraction towards Ai. It's all "Wow, so cool, so pretty, she is so good, so talented!" etc. I completely understand why you dislike the opening with how...misleading it is and how it paints a very negative image but you won't have to worry about any of that going forward. Please do try to enjoy the show, totally not planning on your murder with the star sand scattered everywhere, and ty for the vid chief.
@@fahamali2690 This is what a lot of people do not understand. First they do not understand the difference between a "complex", a "fetish" and actual "___philia"/sexual attraction. They also do not understand the wa-eigo borrowing of the term "complex" as slang in Japanese. They think that because doc expresses affection that it's automatically sexual in nature- which it is not. His actions at the beginning were more chivalrous at worst- and more accurately, were just white lies to comfort Sarina. Nothing sexual at all about his interactions with Sarina and Ai. A lot of people in the west are quite starved of affection that they think any kindness they receive is automatically a sign you want to smash.
@@jephilologistI think the issue is like how Danny said, was that the doctor never really denied being a Loli, only that he didn't wanna be called a Loli. It would've been super easy to give him one line that said "I'm not actually attracted to her, I just think she's amazing". Danny also makes a remark on how Doc never talks about her songs or what she makes, only about her personally, which is also feeds into the idea of him possibly being attracted to her and why super easy to make that mistake. Far as I can tell, its like the anime Wants us to think he's attracted to her. Also, one of the Literal definition of "fetish" is "a form of sexual desire in which gratification is strongly linked to a particular object". Its not that big of a leap to assume a Loli is a p3dophile.
@@aceandfluid the doctor can deny with words, but that would mean nothing if he was indeed sexually attracted to her. His silence was just consideration of the thought. Claiming that his silence was confirmation of p_d0philia is a projection on the part of the audience. Actions speak louder than words. He covered Ai up when she flashed. He refused to suck her boobs. He was not angry to know she had sex/was prego. He had no possessiveness towards her (unlike stalker)- and yet, wanted to avenge her unjust death, and kept loving her even when she was close to being 20. The guy is closer to a white knight, to use a western term. "Lolicon" was just a scornful accusation on the part of the nurse. If he was really a lolicon, he would not like Ai anymore- since she's no longer a little girl, especially when she was close to being 20 (and with kids)- and instead, would be attracted to Ruby (or Kana). But no- all he has for Ai and Ruby is protectiveness. He's not "in love" with them in a sexual sense. He loves both of them as a consequence of a coping mechanism for the loss of Sarina. He barely even has a complex. Like OP said, what doctor really has is TRAUMA for the loss of Sarina. He is superimposing Ai and Ruby with Sarina, and is in coping mode.
@@jephilologist and yet anyone would agree that simply saying "no I'm not" to the accusation would be literally the easiest way to show that he's not attracted to her. This is not an "actions speak louder than words" situation. His silence at the accusation just shows the audience a lack of desire to deny it. And his actions at covering her up or refusing to breastfeed are just explained to us as "refusing to cross a line" rather than a lack of attraction. Also, not once is he shown to be a stalker. A stalker is someone who would be upset at her pregnancy or act possessive, cuz their mentality categorizes the subject of their desire as something to own, rather than a person with their own free will. Him being a fan or even accused of being a Lolicon doesn't mean he automatically has that kind of mentality. Lolicon are also a group of people that overlap with pedos but are more attracted to the subject of their desire simply Looking and/or Acting young, rather than them actually Being young. That's why there's so much discourse about it. I'm not denying OP's explanation of him fixating on her cuz of his own trauma, I'm just saying that its almost like the script and visual shots, in this episode, Wants the audience to believe he's a Lolicon and that he's attracted to her. One line about it would've easily been enough to paint him in a different light.
It's been said before but I would like to point out that the doctor's fascination with Ai is not sexual (though tbh they could have made that clearer). Idol culture is built on marketing yourself as a product. That's why all these groups and members have a schtick. Cutesy, sexy, tomboy, tough-guy, princely etc. They're not "people", they are ideals. Think of it like playing a VN. You may love the character, but that doesn't mean you actually want to date them. The problem is that fans refuse to separate the art from the artist. The idol becomes the ideal, and when they fall short that becomes a problem. You know how some show fans get mad when their favourite character does something they perceive as OOC? It's like that, but instead of blaming the writers they blame the actual person for the crime of...being a human being with a separate life.
5:47 it is very much like that , both japanese and korean idols never really get agency in their life or career and even showing the smallest bit of info about them as a person could lead to them at best losing their contract with a company and at worse have thousands if not millions of fans stalk your every move and place you visit or even buy out a product you use . being an idol is a very big thing in east asia and it has its problems it has amazing pros , but the cons, even for actors/actresses, in drama is insane
I didn’t get any actual romantic vibes from his interactions with the little girl. Like if a kid you know says “let’s get married!” It’s normal for adults to be like “Oh Ho Ho! Only when you get older!” It’s a joke because kids grasp the concept of being married but not the logistics.
Yeah I agree. To a young kid being 'married' just means you are with someone you love lots and lots! But in a cool grown up way. Not quite grasping the grown up nature itself. I wanted to marry my mom, my dad, my best friends, ect. Like a kid playing house. Ai was a bit older but even that age you have kids day dreaming marrying their crush with out grasping the full implications. An adult placating that isn't necessarily bad. Within a certain context of course.
100% as someone who studied early chilhood education, is completly normal for children to feel "in love" or want to marry their principal caregivers, mostly because they don't yet understand the complexity of feelings. Normally the principal caregivers would be the parents or teachers, but we don't really see Sarina's parents and she basically grew up in a Hospital, so for her im pretty sure she saw the doctor as her principal caregiver
I feel like the creepiness comes from the fact he specifically said "not until you're 16", not "not until you're an adult" because that would still be fucked up, you know? Then again, 16 also happens to be the age of consent where I live, so maybe that makes it extra creepy from my perspective. I've seen cases of adult men holding back and waiting for someone to become "legal" before doing anything sexual with them, so the phrase "not until you're 16" alone creeps me the fuck out.
Ok first thing! He is not a lolicon. He was just a fan. Sarein was always talking about her and he made a promise to give the whole idol thing a try and he saw what she saw in the value of idols. Second the marriage thing, the consent of marriage (with parents approval) is 16 in Japan. He said it mostly to cheer her up and to give her an unrealistic task. Not because he figured she would dead but because feelings change when you get older and he was hoping that by the time she got legal age she would be over that. In manga shows a lot of times the means he goes through to respect Ai since he is an adult and he isn't into young girls like that. Oh and the director talking him like an adult and treating them as such isn't so far off of a thing in the industry. But because kids are kids they need representation, but the director figured from how he talked to him that this was a professional that has had experience which he took complete advantage of. So yeah.
This is all true, but you do have to admit that having the coworker flat out call him a lolicon (or just a disgusting pervert in the manga) really doesn't help this possible reading of the MC for people just getting into the series.
@@dariusbyrd8829 Fair. But legit it's one of my complaints about the manga too. (I'm assuming you read it too) Especially when it gets switched to.... The other thing.....Dating wise if you catch my drift with someone else who he is not related to. T w T This is.... So out of context bad. But I'm hoping you know what I'm talking about, right?
oh HELL YEAH, I can’t wait to see this reaction edit: seeing oshi no ko suck danny in in real time is *so* rewarding as someone who has been reading the manga for years, absolutely incredible- hope this reaction series continues
Dude! I could not breathe when you said "I thought she was having a stroll down memory lane, not a sprint to hell! That was her life flashing before her eyes!"
Wow such a sad episode. But tbh I think the saddest part of this video was Danny having to Google up what is a lolicon. Truly a traumatising experience 😢
18:10 "Oh my god there was _absolutely no segway_ into this crazy dark twist." Yes there was. You completely missed them confirming that Sarina is the other baby 30 mins ago in a scene you cut out of this video. Not to mention the number of times we hear her talking about what it'd be like reincarnating as a baby.
I think they added the creepy loli stuff in the beginning to show how Aqua's past self was once one of the weirdo fans he came to hate, and how he changed his view on idols.
That factor would be a lot more impactful if he hates all creepy fans and not just the one that killed his mother (however you do make a really good point)
The whole time you were like "why am i watching this?" And i was like "just wait for it". This episode absolutely broke me. That "I love you" made me cry So much
@@JXSMS I don't think so, I think he just really dislikes slice of life stuff. Listen to his post-episode review, he says he was just bored at first and would only be interested in future episodes if its like death note or some shit.
It kinda is another world tho... They went from a doctor and a patient from some small town to idols in an entertainment industry. It kinda is another world for them.
Nah I'm definitely with you on the whole "why did this need to have the weird pedo stuff" part. The thing is - a lot of them can be explained away just fine on their own (like saying he'll consider marriage once she's 16 being meant to tell he she CAN live to 16 when she thinks she'll die soon), but the combination of all of them just made it unnecessarily creepy. That said, despite all of his talk, he never once actually ACTS creepy with any of them, so that helps a lot imo. I feel like maybe having some understanding of how toxic idol culture is is probably necessary to fully feel for this show? Especially the majority that you found boring, like Ai's pregnancy, earnings, etc.
100% agree. It could've been cut or at least contextualized better within the narrative but I really appreciate that any creep factor they could've played into with Aqua they just don't with the rest of season 1.
considering the author behind this is also the creator of kaguya sama, i think this person has just gotten pretty good at taking like, basic level emotional narratives from shoujo / josei manga (manga targetted at girls and women, but moreso is focused more on drama and introspective narratives) that ive seen like 20 times over and found a way to bait people who don't really wander outside the shonen genre of anime to check out their work, its really interesting
When I was a kid, I was really close to this one man. He was always kind to me and I thought I had a crush on him, so I asked him to marry me XD. He always responded with "maybe when you're older", and then when I was I think 11 he invited my family to his wedding. I was devastated and cried for over an hour. My point is, I kinda interpreted him telling the 12 yo he'd consider when she turned 16 as similar to my situation. He had no intention of marrying me, but he went along with it to make me happy, and then he found someone. The stuff with ai is still weird obviously, he did state later on that he didn't think it was ever romantic though
I think the entire first half of the episode is literally having Aquamarine represent the toxic and creepy fanbase that is the idol fanbase. The whole marketing behind the idol side of Japan makes them pure but also desirable. It’s like people with K-Pop idols it goes so far that it becomes their entire personality. The sense of entitlement, of ownership is something that is seen even in western culture with young actors and characters. As soon as some actresses hit 14 the media will even sexualise them. I guess him being reborn he moves from fan to son, slowly but eventually he sees her as Ai but also as Mother. I also agree it could have been executed better.
I know his backstory isn't as touching in the anime but un the manga it brings literal tears so maybe read the first few chapters of the manga and you'll get it
I sympathize with your discomfort towards the MC's weird fetishes, but I do think the show was relentless at critiqueing his actions, whether it's the nurse character calling out his bs or everyone's off handed comments about how the whole entertainment industry sucks and fools you into these grand illusions, or how unhealthy parasocialism is through the stalker character... It's just difficult to see it outside of the rose tinted lens of the MC. It's like the movie Jojo Rabbit and how they decided to critique WW2 germany through the eyes of a young man completely subscribed into their ideologies. But I do think this show is trying to criticize how entertainment gives us these weird fetishes, particularly fantasies of and about the youth in that industry. As you can see, it doesn't end in good mental health for people like Aqua and the stalker. So although I would not fault anyone for being uncomfortable at the first half, I do think this is necessary because there is no greater way to deconstruct the entertainment industry than to pull the wool over the eyes of someone who's completely caught by its lies. Oh and awesome star sand there. I'm sure the person that sent you this is an awesome dude that doesn't have severe parasocial issues. I'm sure.
That fair, I do kind of feel that the coworker calling him out is the biggest problem that contributes to cementing the MC in a negative light (as that's what it did for me). So I'd personally prefer for it to have just not been added, but this explanation actually does help a bit. Plus is Mike's better than the people just saying "N, it's not creepy at all - he said it was pure, so obviously it must be" and "You're just reaching to find a way to bash it for views".
@animeandcartoonshticks1394 Calling him a lolicon was calling him out. The word lolicon was not framed in a positive light in the context of her statement. Do you think her judgemental eyes were a sign of approval by the nurse?
Just the fact that he summoned the plushie squad and Thomas the hippo stays on his head for the rest of video just makes this sad for me since I didnt have my plushie army watching the episode by myself.
So like the reason its weird for us that shes sixteen is because in our country we grow up with 18 being the age of consent. However in japan it is 16 which is the legal age at which a woman can marry. So that's why you see it like this so much in anime. Its just different there
Barely started the video, and the way Danny describes what he knows of the plot reminds me of how weirded out I was when my friend was trying to explain me that "awesome new anime" she got into
The manga talks about the brutal aspects of being an idol or just being famous in general, it gives a lot of insights and realness of the entertainment industry. Also, I got bored too on the first half but reading some comments made me realize the need for adding those details. I always get chills with that stabbing scene 😭 THE PLUSHIE GANG SUPPORTING THE EMOTIONAL DAMAGE HAD ME ROLLINH 🤣
Watching the realization slowly start on your face both with Ai's death and also Serena being Ruby was interesting to watch to say the least. I enjoyed it. But also, i cannot wait for more of this.
I was so confused on why on earth they would make the first episode an hour and a half, but actually watching it I understand. If we were to get the first two 20min episodes me and everyone's grandma would drop it. But this...this was actually a rly unique and devasting emotional journey. I rly wonder in which turn the plot is going in, because the possibilities are rly endless here
Danny, all im going to say is that if there is ever a knock on your door with someone in a black hoodie and flowers let us know we’ll call the police for you. 💀😭🤚
The weird bits of the doctor and ruby's attitude for ai are showing the darkness and how messed up the world is and how everyone is a little messed up deep inside
You KNOW an anime is good when at the beginning you can't do anything except trash talk it, and then by the end of the first episode you are so invested that you can't back away now!
I literally laugh cried when you brought out the stuffed animals 😆😭 the scene being sad, I was holding back sadness. But the stuffed animal on your head and next to you made me laugh.
Ironically the someone who hates being an idol thing is a manga, it’s called phantom of the idol. A man becomes an idol because he thinks it would be easy money and is so bad at it he at risk of being fired when he meets the ghost of a very popular idol who still wants to perform so she possesses him so he can keep his job and she can perform still, after her first performance pretending to be him she is unable to possess him again so he has to learn to keep up the persona she just created for him
Information on JP idols (coming from someone who mainly likes Kpop but it’s somewhat similar) While idols are seen smiling obviously there’s downsides such as keeping a slim figure, face, clear record, good dancing and singing, and being criticized 24/7, Idol’s get MASSIVE hate for even dating someone, People like to think idol’s belong to them, Same goes when an idol gets/does piercings, tattoos, drinks, swearing, or anything fans take as an personal offense to “their” idols, It’s quite common for people to cause dating scandals or rumors on idols over eye contact, interactions, talking, or simply wearing the same piece of clothing or jewelry.
A lot of people are responding to your bit about Gorou being a lolicon and my personal stance is he isn't. He's a creepy, obsessive fan sure but that's most people when it comes to idol culture. In the beginning he doesn't truly see Ai as real, he doesn't deny that he would take Ai on a date but we don't really know his full response either. Personally I've been on non-romantic dates so I see it like that. Another explaination I could come up with is if he thought "that would never happen anyways" because he genuinely doesn't see Ai as real until she shows up at the hospital. Throughout the episode he grows from an obsessive fan to someone with genuine admiration and (non-romantic/sexual) love for Ai as a person. Also I would like to note that the manga started serialization before 2022 when the age of marriage was changed from 16 to 18. This would explain more of when Sarina was calling Gorou a "moralist" when he said he'd consider marrying her at 16. That being said I believe that scene was mostly about giving Sarina hope for the future like most people in this comment section.
being a japanese idol you can't be dating or look like your dating or anything you are at the mercy of your audience's whims in exchange for fame (both male and female idols go though this) it's sad and Oshi No Ko tells it beautifully

@Frahamen 16 was the official age of marriage in Japan when the manga was written (it changed to 18 in 2022). Best part of this whole thing.
Quick fact:
Ai’s full name is Hoshino Ai(星野愛). Which can be read as ほしいの愛(roughly translated to “the love I want”).
Which hurts more when you realise it.
No, not really. It's pronounced quite differently. However, Hoshino Ai could translate to "A star's love"
@@en4833this makes a lot more sense in the idol context
no it's not hoshii-no-ai
it can be read as hoshi-no-ai which would translate as "the love of the star"
though i don't think star in this context would mean celebrity but rather just star in the sky
😢
I wouldn't know how common pregnancy is, but idol culture in Japan is seriously effed up. Fans go ballistic if idols even date. They're all about them maintaining "purity".

@@dariusbyrd8829thats just Japanese culture makimg jokes about topics they don't take seriously
So it’s about two creeps slowly becoming less creeps?
13:29 It’s the fact they’re 100% in-synced and fluidly animated is what makes this scene funny.
This is one of my favorite parts in this episode.
@ljeans531 If you interpret it like that okay. It's never really confirmed and I don't see it that way. At least not a romantic date.
He mentions having infantile amnesia and similar stuff as well
21:13 THE WAY IT HIT HIM- BRO WAS JUST CHILLING.

As someone who recently read the manga and would like to break everyone's hearts a little more, I will share this knowledge I learnt:
After Ai's death scene, it's mentioned that when the police finally came, they shielded Ruby from seeing Ai's corpse. However, Aqua then says - and I quote - "but I was right there, feeling her body gradually grow colder".
Gooddamn😭

Wait wait wait. Pause. Back up. How did Danny literally predict the end premise of this movie?
"Are we just a time skip away from this dude becoming a full on murderer??"
HOW. HOW DID HE DO THAT.
It's in his blood atp 😭😭
He's the best at making innocent jokes about very brutal spoilers 😎
FR!!! when he was watching banana fish he deadass went “it kinda seems like banana fish might be a drug and not a person.” LIKE BITCH. WHAT. HOW. WHEN. WHY. WHO. 😭
That's what I thought
The stars in their eye are figurative, it basically represents how much star power(as in a idol , actor or model ) they have , which is why the 'North star ' that represents ai also died out when she did.
“We’re just a timeskip away for this kid becoming a full on murderer” bro didn’t know how right he was 😂
He only said he will "Consider" it to Sarin to make her feel better and loved because her parents...well let's say they were not the best at it.
17:44 i thought we already knew she was sarina?? like she literally said "after all sarina was my name in my past life"
I don't think he was paying attention. For the first half of the episode he wasn't interested at all.
Especially China. The idea they often and willingly boycott, cyber bully, and stalk people literally labeled "idol" is wild.
I didn’t get any actual romantic vibes from his interactions with the little girl. Like if a kid you know says “let’s get married!” It’s normal for adults to be like “Oh Ho Ho! Only when you get older!” It’s a joke because kids grasp the concept of being married but not the logistics.
It's also to comfort her since she might not make it that far.
@@danielwoods3896 He's her doctor so he knows precisely that she won't live long anyway
Yes there was.

Ugh I wish the entire anime was about 4 year olds getting revenge I'd be so much more invested
24:15 THATS THE EXACT POINT! TO TRAUMATIZE YOU LIKE AQUA!

Danny, all im going to say is that if there is ever a knock on your door with someone in a black hoodie and flowers let us know we’ll call the police for you. 💀😭🤚
23:15 23:50 I CANT THIS PART IS FUNNY CUZ HE GOT ALL OF PLUSHIES😭
Oh no same here.....I think we all needed our plushies for this episode
@@jemma927 yeah fr
21:09 his reaction was so funny
The weird bits of the doctor and ruby's attitude for ai are showing the darkness and how messed up the world is and how everyone is a little messed up deep inside
The fact he didn’t know what a lolicon is already shows massive GREEN FLAG energy
Ok but Aqua becoming a serial killer wouldn't even be out of the question at this point lol.
You KNOW an anime is good when at the beginning you can't do anything except trash talk it, and then by the end of the first episode you are so invested that you can't back away now!
This manga is pain and suffering in one cute idol bow, If you want something wholesome to watch and good show is madoka magica.
The fact that he guessed the plot like 30 mins in is hilarious
Dude i literally watched the episode an hour ago and checked youtube and found this, thank you for this perfect timing 😂🙏
I literally laugh cried when you brought out the stuffed animals
😆😭
the scene being sad, I was holding back sadness. But the stuffed animal on your head and next to you made me laugh.
This is how i felt when I watched it after seeing the hype on the internet 😂, it definitely won me over
Me tooo....I just finished ep1 today
Ironically the someone who hates being an idol thing is a manga, it’s called phantom of the idol. A man becomes an idol because he thinks it would be easy money and is so bad at it he at risk of being fired when he meets the ghost of a very popular idol who still wants to perform so she possesses him so he can keep his job and she can perform still, after her first performance pretending to be him she is unable to possess him again so he has to learn to keep up the persona she just created for him
Danny has been by far the most critical of this show so far 😂. It does show that Danny has some incredibly high standards as far as entertainment goes
24:21 IM FUCKING CRYING AND YOURE MAKING ME LAUGH SO HARD I LOOK CRAZY
I love Danny's reaction as he slowly realize that Ruby is the girl with cancer in her past life.
24:40 "10 minutes of relentless torture"
And now begins the slow burn.
Information on JP idols (coming from someone who mainly likes Kpop but it’s somewhat similar)
While idols are seen smiling obviously there’s downsides such as keeping a slim figure, face, clear record, good dancing and singing, and being criticized 24/7, Idol’s get MASSIVE hate for even dating someone, People like to think idol’s belong to them, Same goes when an idol gets/does piercings, tattoos, drinks, swearing, or anything fans take as an personal offense to “their” idols, It’s quite common for people to cause dating scandals or rumors on idols over eye contact, interactions, talking, or simply wearing the same piece of clothing or jewelry.
"The animation is so weird like you know how they do highlights- OH MY GOD OH WOAH WOAH WOAH WHAT!??" This is peak content lol 😂
28:38 Danny: he won’t like it
Tom: “I don’t”
being a japanese idol you can't be dating or look like your dating or anything you are at the mercy of your audience's whims in exchange for fame (both male and female idols go though this) it's sad and Oshi No Ko tells it beautifully
I mean you can. You just can't get caught.
“whats a lolicon?”
