- Hello everyone! In this fun ranking video, I will tier-rank all Golgari commanders in Magic (excluding partner pairs) based on how fun I think they are! If you want more ranking videos like this, give this video a like.

As a 7 year gitrog player, that has played it from casual to CEDH, I love the frog. I am only missing the Kermit looking version. Try The Mycrotyrant. Its fun get some dice and you can keep track of it easy. give it try!

I love my Beledros deck! It's fun seeing my opponents slowly get swarmed by pests and get suddenly drained because I sac'd them for value in a massive turn with that untap
I agree with this list, i would bump shelob up to the top tier of your list because like you keep the passive abilities from creatures once they become food token from cards like sheoldred or like elas ill kor and really cool when you pair it with like Haslin who can turn your food tokens into creatures again. Did it once with like an etali before and it was crazy fun and unique experience

I love Golgari! Golgari commanders I have built and played over the years:
- Meren: The queen of Golgari! Love this commander but it's more useful to me as a 99 now. Still powerful but i don't think it's grindy game states promotes the most amusing games amongst my friends.
- Abomination of Llanowar/Lathril Blade of Selves: I initially made Lathril but switched to Abomination because of boardwipes due to Abomination being huge from elves in play or graveyard. I found it kind of boring since it was so straightforward: get lots of elves out.
- Gyome Master Chef: Was Ok, better in Meren so you can stack your triggers and always have food for Meren LOL
- Yargle and Multani: Built this deck as a joke only to feel like the joke is on me due to how good it is. I call it a power matters Aristrocrat deck since you are going to kill your commander or other high powered cheap cmc creatures over and over again with effects that draw you cards, treasures, life loss to opponents equal to the creatures sacrificed power. So funny when you almost deck yourself in Golgari! Last FNM I won by getting out Cadaverous Bloom, sacrificed ''Yargltani'' to Life's Legacy, Momentous fall, etc..., brought them back with the 1 cmc draft chaff cards: Supernatural Strength, Undying Evil, etc... made over 50 mana and cast Exsanguinate for the finale. Absolutely my favorite Golgari commander ATM, crazy because it is just a vanilla 18/6 six cmc creature. I posted a deck build on Moxfield search ''Yargltani'', it is a fairly cheap deck (don't fret, I don't own a dual land, always proxy the dual lands you will be surprised how often a untapped multicolour land can be) if anyone is interested and most of all have fun! ;p
I love Dina.
She is one of those cards that are "nerfed" because mtg arena only does 1vs1 and no 2vs2 (in a previous version back in the days it was possible (didn't implemented commander tho). Vito is actually better in this context (1vs1).
Hopefully we will get more game formats to play on MTG: Arena I know that's what a lot of my friends are waiting for right now. For now, it's a nice game of solitaire lol
I love Pharika. The snakes she makes are ENCHANTMENT creatures so if you do some self milling you can activate her to get tons of constellation triggers/triggers from 'gravebreak' cards like insidious roots, tormod, or amzu. Not to mention just having graveyard hate in the command zone is really strong. You can get a lock going with a creature like skull prophet, seedborn, and thoughtrender lamia or just give the deathtouch snakes and huge plants from roots trample with a card like thunderfoot baloth since controlling your commander is basically a freeroll.
All of that is barring the joy you get when someone thinks they have a free attack with their annoying creature and so you give whoever they're swinging at a surprise deathtoucher to ambush their creature. I like that she gives it to the player you exile from because of that political play potential.
I'm honestly happy whenever she is low rated because it still means my deck is unique LOL
So I def didn’t think about the snakes being enchantments. Oops

The Mycotyrant is by far my favorite deck I have. The way I track the Descend triggers is just making a second pile of all of the cards that went into my graveyard right next to the real graveyard and count them when the Mycotyrant's trigger goes off, then off to the graveyard they go. If you pull something out from the milled cards, I usually just put a token card in the 2nd pile as a reminder. Pretty easy when doing it this way, and I HIGHLY recommend you give him a try! It's everything I love about Golgari!
I do this as well and it works like a charm, but with the added step of filtering out non permanents to the GY as I mill. He’s by far my favorite commander at the moment
@@marshallgaming4422 Yep, exactly the same. I’ve only got 6 non-permanents in the whole deck, but I put them immediately in the GY if they get milled. Unless of course, it’s Dread Return, in which case I set it aside cause I’m immediately about to play it, lol.

Thalia and the Gitrog, The Gitrog Monster and, The Gitrog Ravenous Ride. I can’t wait to play a deck with all 3!
I’ve thought about building that lol. I think a Slime against humanity + Gitrog Ravenous Ride deck is actually gas AF. You can saddle the slimes to draw a bunch of cards and ramp to play more slimes again humanities. Along with abundance, you can draw the exact ratio of nonlands and lands you need too.
Rolling for attractions is just "rolling to visit". Claiming a prize for an attraction is different and is stated on each attraction thats able to claim a prize, and theres only 1 legal (non-acorn) attraction that has a prize claim, Pick-a-Beeble. But other than that, building a deck around gamer and +1/+1 counters and artifacts is pretty fun and it also lets you use spinnerette.

Meren is one of my favorite commanders, you can do so much with her.
The problem with RWBY isn’t that it takes the verbatim plot elements of Avatar, but that they take a bunch of elements and tweak them to be original, but don’t understand the purpose behind the original implementation. This leaves the show feeling less like a cohesive story inspired by Avatar and other anime and more like a loose amalgamation of cool ideas from other shows that did it better. Also, having 4 nations, a reincarnation system, a main character who starts as a sexist but grows, or having the characters visit new locales doesn’t mean that it is an Avatar ripoff, but having all of them at once with similar characteristics does make it feel like a very similar show.

I've always had difficulties describing the 'feel' of Golgari, because overall and outwardly we appear quite beefy and capable. And for the most part we are. But we are oddly fragile, very on the tipoe of things. Of all the colors I play, Golgari is perhaps the most engaging for its mechanics and also because it does tip-toe this line of being almost tanky-glasscannon. When my decks are on fire it's like there is nothing anyone can do, we can be quite tricky. I think alot of people can relate (not just B/G players) on that feeling of not getting the ramp up to do your moves, but I feel this the most with Black and Green decks in particular, so when you put them together it's almost like you're telling the other players "Hold on, one second, I'm sure I put the corpse... somewhere... here... AH! THERE IT IS!" xD But by that time it might be too late. It's a color that requires quite a bit of balancing.
Yeah that sums up my feelings pretty well. I super enjoy the balancing of graveyard decks between mill, reanimation, etc. it’s such a fun process and when it all comes together in those wild turns it’s a 10/10

Smoegal is fun he has a ring tempt trigger on your end step if a creech dies so you can lean into that as well. He has sort of a sub game with keeping track of how many lands of your opponents can you steal.
You forgot Zask, Skittering Swarmlord. My favorite Golgari commander.

I would really give Meren a go. She was one of my first commanders and I have built her multiple different ways, taken her apart etc. but I’ve always come back to her and honestly my current configuration is my favourite. Its so resilient and just leans into all the Golgari goodness ☺️
Glissa sunslayer isn't always vultron deck, it's either a saga value engine deck or a fun card midrange deck (see deck drivers videos) I'd personally put glissa at the bottom of very fun.
Man, I love Meren, but my playgroup always gets so annoyed by her constant Fleshbag Marauder shenanigans since all of them are so big bungus focused, which makes he pretty fair in my opinion (how else am I supposed to survive when everyone is dumping out 8/8s every other turn?) but leads things to be pretty slow and grindy pretty often.
Was thinking of building it into a budget Grist deck with just a bunch of random insect tribal shenanigans. Not sure how intersting it'll actually be though.
I have protean hulk in mine which allows you to find a pitiless plunderer, grave crawler and carrion feeder.. with an altar of dimentia or a pinger it’s a winning combo.. stuff like that helps bring less grindy
@@yeahyeahyeah0yeah Yeah, I also have an infinite or two in it, but making them tutorable tends to be a slippery slope to making a deck far too powerful for a given playgroup

OG glissa isn’t an eggs deck, my dude. You don’t get any of the draw you would get from playing other colors. It’s possibly the most complicated deck I have as it’s not innately clear what the deck wants to do.
Mine has been refined over the years and finally it works like a well oiled phyrexian machine. One of my most fun decks I own!
I ran her as an egg deck and it was pretty great

@@BRBMTG currently I'm working on Dina, Mycotyrant, The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride, Vraska, The Silencer, and Slimefoot, but I'm thinking maybe putting Slimefoot in Mycotyrant.... I haven't been brewing long on my own.. maybe 2mos so still trying to learn my way around all the tools, lol That and trying to upgrade precons that's where I've tried to start learning to do stuff
I have a video on my channel that goes over deck building! The best advice I can give is don’t give up. For every 10 decks you brew, you’ll love like one of them. And it’s an iterative process. Takes a lot of time.
My favorite deck has been tuned for years. As I adjust its power level, flavor, etc. it’s a journey so enjoy !
you missed a few more golgari commanders. Thelon and Zask are 2 that I can think of.

Zask + Asuza + Evolving Wilds = Play 3 lands per each of your turns. I built Zask and he is very fun. It would be nice if we got even more good insects, most are common, but still good fun.
I honestly think you should take a second look at Old Rutstien as well. Sure, he doesn’t do anything super broken, but he is a value engine that cannot whiff, and he creates so much incremental value over the game that allows you to get ahead of you opponents on ramp, card selection, and sac fodder.

@@Aegar428 I did, but I also used exactly goglari by mistake. Wasn't thinking about green cards with black pips in them. I caught 4 of them at the end, but forgot Zask and one other. That's what I get for pulling my list before coffee. :P I shouldn't miss any on the next one tho!
Really gyome that down huh? 12:23 an artifact creator, with auto protect and also a way to interact with your opponents attacks. It´s skill doesnt says it has to be one of your creatures, you can save yourselffrom attacks or use it as a politic weapon. Gyome has a lot of builds from artifact sacrifice, food deck, draining by life or artifacts or sacrifice while protecting itself or the piece... Bad take bro.
