My spouse and I have been playing the game 2 player to learn the basics before introducing it to friends. Capitalists are currently 2-0, but we'll see how that goes on the 3rd playthrough. First playthrough was about 5 hours. Second playthrough was closer to 2.5 to 3 hours. The metal coins were 100% worth the extra.
I played this at our local MicroCon, and it was a blast...4-player game in 3 hours, and at no time did we experience tedium or boredom. Immediately following the game, I went out to Noble Knight and purchased it.
Played twice (in the middle of playing with the three advanced automas on Tabletopia currently), and our third game is scheduled for Saturday. I'm absolutely in love with this game. I'll have to see how Inventions goes, but this, so far, is my favorite release of the year. Our first game was three players, and I played the middle class, my friend played the Capitalist, and his son played the working class. I went pretty hardcore socialist and teamed up with the working class to attempt to keep the capitalist at bay. He just ignored us and sold their goods to the foreign market, which really hurt me because we let immigration get out of control, and I couldn't produce enough goods to supply my people with what they wanted to be happy. So, I botched the first game hard, and the working class won by a landslide (20+ points). 2nd game I played with the State, and that is my favorite out of the two. Just trying to strike the balance was difficult. The capitalist class had so much influence that we had a near-impossible time pushing policy change. If I had thought about it earlier, I would have bankrupted the state and had IMF reset everything. We did play with hidden agendas, Crisis and Control, and Historic Events. I loved the three mini-expansions, and I wouldn't see the need to play without them. Especially Historic Events, which I felt brought a realistic feel to the game. The events could be beyond our control and we just had to adapt to them and make it through the decade. Overall, I cannot get enough of the game. Great review. I loved hearing your take on it.
Thank you! I loved reading your take and experience with the game. I genuinely can't wait to play with the mini expansions. I just really didn't want to overwhelm people with the teach. I wish I could be happy playing games digitally l, but I just don't have fun with it. I need that tactile feel! -Dan
I came down with some nasty laryngitis the day before this review. This game was clean, sharp, and a good time. I was supposed to be there fourth man here, but after one game I’d give it at least a 7.5. I’d love to get three more plays in, one as each class!

This a game I want more than most but will not buy because I KNOW it will never get played. 😢
