    I think that Elon Musk dragged these kids into this to limit criticism. The kids are amazing and working on a project like this is a good thing but the Hyper-loop is a dumb idea and it will never happen. No matter, the experience that they get from building that pod will probably serve them well.

    it seems everyone seems to have forgotten the larger version trains that would be used for transport, ironically having a larger train would be more accommodating for mass transit of a large number of people in a more traditional sense of seating that also allows for multiple people from all physical abilities from young family to old and mobility restricted, none can deny that the work that these students have done so far is amazing, but until large bodies of people in groups of 140 + can be accommodated, existing and unfortunately more traditional transport in the form of european or japanese decent high speed rail (or its future japanese replacement with the hybrid maglev) will always win funding to replace 20th century tech

    I kinda agree it's weird to use air levitation when you are putting so much effort in making a vacuum but, dude, come on... these guys are making a university project... they are not preying on the delusions of people that hyperloop will be ready in months or something, they are just doing prototyping and research...
    like, calm down, people... you don't have to disprove every single project in the face of earth...

    Well done! but... air levitation inside a vacuum chamber? hmmm Why putting air inside it if it has to be sucked out again; the air tanks need refilling... i am missing sth...

      This is a near-vacuum still containing some atmosphere for the original "air cushion" concept and other pods that requires air for its propulsion system (e.g. the WARR hyperloop)

    myślę że największym problemem będzie sama organizacja rozkładu jazdy.. myślę że sama trasa powinna dzielić się na 100-200 kilometrowe odcinki ponieważ to będzie bardziej efektywnie bo jeśli nitka będzie miała 500 km to tylko jeden chyperbol poleci bo w jaki sposób utrzymany podciśnieniowe jak otworzymy tunel gdzie już leci jeden chyperbol ? stacja pomiędzy sekcjach musiałaby być bardzo dobrze pomyślana i albo zaawansowana... nie wiem czy bylibyśmy w stanie zrobić kapsułek tak szczelna i pasująca do tunelu by pojechal w nim więcej niż jeden hyperbool... trzeba nad tym pomyśleć najlepiej jak stacje będą w największych miastach gdzie miasto będzie stać na to... chyperbol dopasuje do stacji tunel jest zamykany i następny może tym tunelem lecieć... myślę to będzie jedyne rozwiązanie... chyba że zbuduje się 4 nitki 2 do podróży od 100 do 200 km a 2 od 200 do 1000. wiadomo że chodzi o koszty samych tuneli... stacje musiały by być bardzo zaawansowane... jednak myślę że to i tak jest przyszłość podróży naziemnej. życzę powodzenia i sukcesu

      myślę że trzeba opracować dobrze system śluz zamykający tunele pod ciśnieniem i sam dworzec przesiadkowy... nawet jeśli zbuduje cie chociaż jedno połączenie w Ameryce między 2 dużymi miastami to już będzie duży sukces.

      And it *never* will because there is a reason its called *hyper* loop. Hyper meaning its *mostly hype*.
      The so-called 'science' behind hyperloop has already been debunked.

    I'm just going to through out some thoughts I had while watching the project video. So is the pod expected to operate in a vacuum? If not, the entire front of the pod could be fitted with a large air intake with an electric turbine to compass air for the levitation components. It would still need to allow for significant bypass to lower wind resistance. Picture something like the head of a manta ray. It may extend its millage between pressure tank swaps or refills. The tunnel could also be fitted with induction coils to generate power as it travels. If the entire roof of the tunnel were to be covered in solar panels it would also help offset the energy costs. Would the tanks be "hot swappable" at destination ports or pressurized in place?

    High speed train is a reality, yet it fails to catch enough users, certainly in the US due to urban sprawl and mentality (imposed by the car and oil corporation that destroyed all city trains in the thirties to promote their products). So good luck for a yet to work system. OK, nice exercise and fun to make it work though.

      What you said is true but what if it were feasible to compete with air travel? If you could travel down the cali coast or travel from the mid-west to New York without the hassle of the airport and save time and money wouldn't you? I don't believe this is a system designed to replace your current daily commute to work.

      I thought the competition had proved it otherwise. Three universities' pods are already proven to be able to travel in a near-vacuum environment, along with Hyperloop One, which has begun the construction of their tube. Your comment is the same as saying a few years ago that reusable rockets isnt a viable thing because the first few ocean landings failed. Never underestimate the progress of technology.

      ' a near-vacuum environment' bs statement. If there would be vacuum or near it, they would have to pump air out for long time till they launch each pod. why those pods make so much noise in the tube then? :D 57mph is nothing close to 800mph. the frikin tube they did tests in was just a tube. As for learning process, universities can build some pods and train students, but that is not the most challenging part of this project.
      As for landing rockets, it is not very efficient to launch rocket into space and then bring it back with part of the fuel in it, but to prevent building new carrier rockets and eliminate space junk, it is worth trying. Tbh technology was there 20 years ago to build landing rockets.

      XYZt sorry but you sir are most probably wrong. as cool of an idea as it is, the idea of creating a vacuum that large isn't practical. that really tiny test track is already the second largest vacuum in the world and anything larger would be infessible not to mention incredibly unsafe. this project is way father off than it is hinted to be
