Opeth - A Fair Judgement - cover

- Here is my take on Opeth's "A Fair Judgement". Epic track, no doubt about that. I took a liberty or two here and there, also some sync errors crept in again. Couple of mistakes. Nvm.
This was a transcontinental project. The drumtrack was put together beautifully by my brother Jamie (oceansikth) on his Roland E-kit. He recorded it in the UK and emailed it to me here in Australia....great job man, thank you so much for doing this one for me. You know I'm going to hassle you for more.
Also, my other brother (larztallica) is an excellent drummer and a keen Opeth fan, please would you do me a drumtrack larz, just name the song and I'll get to work on a new one. It'd be awesome to have both of you on here.
Thanks to Anthony again for helping me with some audio issues. We still plan to take the audio tracks and put them thru his "Steinberg" so there may well be an update on this (there usually is).
This was a lot of work but well worth it.
Equipment:
Line 6 PODX3
Line 6 30w Spider amp
Vintage Les Paul (just a copy), shit do I need a PRS....
Greg Bennett Nylon string w/pickup
Cubase 5 (Audio)
Sony Vegas (Video)
Please rate and comment if you feel like it.
Oh...and more tutorials in the pipeline.
Thanks so much for watching my vids guys..

amazing cover! I wish I could have the tabs on the classic guitar, The sound is pretty satisfying...great job! keep uploading
Una obra maestra, interpretada exquisitamente. Todos necesitamos una PRS "D.
Really great cover. I love the way you cover songs without the backing, makes it so much more pleasurable to the ear :P
HOLY LORD!!!!
Didn't knew u played electrics aswell.....
MY NEW GUITAR IDOL - EZER!!!!!! PERIOD
A fine job as always. It's always a pleasure watching your videos.
Keep up the good work.
Even better than before! You have got to be my favorite person you youtube.
Brilliant cover! Keep up the fantastic job. A thank you very much for your Opeth guitar lessons, it's one of the best to be found.
Very great job man....it's amazing to listen a beautiful cover of my favourite band!!!
Wow, absolutely brilliant, the layering is fantastic! Thanks for uploading!
@HemeHaci Hey Hemi, thanks for watching my covers. Yes the acoustic parts were what drew me into Opeth in the first place, didn't take too long after that for me to pick up an electric after 20 years of nylon and classical music. Thanks again man.
Eezer
Just a word to describe this video: "Perfect"
Stunning work there. You've really captured the fluidity of the piece. Nice.
no comments, simply amazing! i am working on a instrumental piano only version and just found yours.. congratz!
Wowww.
Woowwww.
It's all I can say at the moment.
This brought a great smile to my face.
Breathtaking cover as usual, Eezerian!
Looking forward to more in the future.
Hey darkbarrage, thanks for watching again and sharing your thoughts. I used a setting on my POD that said "Ghost of Perdition"...lol...had to be used across the board for this. Programs I use for recording are Cubase 5 and Sony Vegas.
I have thought about a band (tribute) but no-one I know has really got the same passion for playing this music. Some of my friends like listening but I don't think they're interested in performing it. Would be awesome though.
Thanks again.
Eezer
its really great work, thanx
ME too Grev, I remember hearing that bit for the first time ages ago and my jaw hit the floor. Cheers for watching this again.
Eezer
dude, perfect cover
GREAT STUFF MAN! KEEP EM COMING!
Yeah, I can imagine! Very classy mate!
@lantyboy Hey thanks for checking out my vids and subscribing. This was such an awesome song to put together. Glad you liked it. More to come.
Eezer
beautiful!!!! :D
Great!
Thanks for watching, effected. Glad you liked it, the layering took ages to get right, thanks for commenting on that. 'til next time
Eezer
I don't know why i took so long to listen to listo to Opeth's heavy songs. They also have their mellow parts and it's own unique beauty, I'm glad I finally took the time to listen to them. Also, your cover is GREAT, keep it up!
The solo O_O That was amazing I am speechless
@nivramrelyt Thank you for coming back and watching my videos. New tutorials now available including "Face of Melinda".
Thanks again
Eezer
i'm looking for some covers and BANG!! it's you again :D
@imagesandturds lol...thanks. Glad you enjoyed my cover. I have been playing classical guitar for over 20 years but I'm self taught, not what you would describe as classically trained because no-one's ever taught me. (Besides a couple of casual teachers early in the piece) so it's just something I love doing. Thanks again for watching, I just posted a new one.
Eezer
Brilliant, Eezer, just brilliant! I look forward to your lesson, I learned the song months ago but didn't really get some parts like the the second solo...
Grabbed my guitar today for first the first time in some years and naturally started playing Opeth. Came across Patterns in the Ivy II and landed on your channel again, 12 years later.
Hope all is well, your covers are still a wonderful source of inspiration for me. Merry Christmas, Eezer!
TOP!
Yea man, your finger picking style is as close to the album as I have heard. I always check your covers for references when I am learning how to play Mike's parts :) They have a video of Mikael checking out different youtube covers and I always thought he would say yours nailed it. Cheers!
Thank you Shane for sharing your thoughts on my cover of this unbelievable track. One of many gems in their repertoire. It's quite amazing that they can make music so interesting time and time again. Riffs in this are killer as always and sublime solos perfectly placed...sigh. I appreciate your comments about the RUclips vid with Mikael...would've been nice. Cheers again and here's hoping for more.
Eezer
Hey thanks for commenting Burgah. I suppose the layering and editing has been as much of a part of the learning here as the playing itself. Such a great project to work on, I was sad when it was over in a way. Cheers for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Eezer
@fatcuffy Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed it. You can't really go wrong when the writing is sublime like this. I wanted to cover this one from the first time I heard it.
Thanks again
Eezer
I think I'm going to try vocals over this one next. I just randomly started humming through it before bed and thought ''hmm... wonder if good ol' Eezerian made a cover of this..."
Low and behold, he did! Amazing work dude; this one will be as fun as ever I think
@Hatschepoth Hey, thanks for commenting on my Opeth cover. I always had this song as an electric and acoustic combo, to try to get the right feeling across would have been very difficult on just acoustic. The solos wouldn't have sounded as good I don't think. Thanks again for watching my vids..more to come.
Eezer
Your classical playing with fingerpicking skills are way beyond metal playing with a pick which makes acoustic parts more memorable in your covers.
love the face at 6:45
Hey Grigeral, man you've been watching my vids for ages (thanks so much) and it's a pleasure always to hear from you...all the best and loads more to come..hehe
Eezer
Hey Hellboy, great to hear from you again. Oh yes, a PRS would do nicely round about now, and a Laney stack to go with it. On the original front, well that would be something. Not really in the mix yet, but you never know. Thanks so much for watching my videos again. More to follow.
Eezer
4:45 blows me away every time!
@Blaine465 Thanks for commenting on my video, the POD X3 was responsible for the tone but took ages to work out. More videos on the way over the holidays so it wont be long. Thanks again for watching my stuff...
Eezer
@bloodyz16x24 Thanks for your thoughts on this one. I don't have tabs but I will do a full tutorial on it in the near future. I've just posted a series of vids that explains how to play my version of "Face of Melinda". Check it when you get time. Thanks again, your English was fine BTW.
Eezer
Inspiring ;)
@Giannofman Thanks for watching, it took a long time but was worth every second.
Eezer
@scottie0904 Hi, thanks for watching and commenting, great that you appreciate the 'cover' aspect rather than covers with the original running in the background. That's the part I've enjoyed the most, piecing all the parts together, sometimes only 2 and sometimes more guitars at once, it's wonderful. However what I have difficulty with is getting hold of good backing tracks of just drums and bass that sound like the original. I was lucky with this one coming from the UK
Thanks again
Eezer
It is Rachel, a very beautiful section of the song. Thanks so much for supporting my vids, I'm working on more. Won't be too far away.
Eezer
@NoThoughtControl1992 Thank you and I hope you're getting through this one ok. I may post a lesson or two on it in the future. I appreciated your comments very much.
Eezer
@MetalOfAllOwns Hey, thank you for your comments on my cover and for watching my vids. Good suggestion re Madrigal. I'm guilty of not giving it enough 'airplay' on my own rotation of Opeth's songs, but it is so beautiful. Haunting and unusual...I've been listening to it these past few days and I'd love to give it a go. The 'delay' effect at the start is hard to get right but I'm working on it. New one not too far away. Thanks again
Eezer
All you need now is a PRS! :P
But seriosuly, I needn't say it's flawless! Anything from you is perfect! I'm hoping to see some original stuff from you!
Cheers! :)
Yes I will do this one as a lesson soon. I'll let you know when it's up.
Eezer
Hey Faxe, thanks for checking out my vids again and commenting on my latest cover. Such a great song this, never thought I'd manage it all the way through. Lesson will follow but my next lesson (Face of Melinda) is almost done.
Thanks again, hope you're well.
Eezer
Opeth is my fav band an this is my fav song by them. You did an amazing job Mikael Åkerfeldt would be proud.
@playak21 Thanks for watching, please check my channel for more Opeth.
Eezer
@silverstaralchemist Thank for watching again. Just uploaded a new one (For Absent Friends), when you get a moment. Great to hear from you
Eezer
Thank you. Can you upload more ?:)
Big fan of your work! Could you please make a guitar lesson for this? :)
@OliMetalUntilDeath Thank you for watching and commenting.
Eezer
lol this is even better though I thought this couldn't be better :)
Near to the original. like a remastered instrumental strudio version :) This could be released on CD ;)
You truly nailed it!
u alive?
Thanks nick, can't wait for you to do me a drumtrack, Benighted would be great as I should post an update of that song.
Cheers
E
Losing sleep, in too deep
Fading sun, what have I done
Came so close to what I need most
Nothing left here
Cut the ties, uncovered disguise
Left behind all intertwined
Lost control, moved out of the role now
Nothing's left here
Leave it be
It was meant for me
Soul sacrifice
Forgot the advice
Lost track of time
In a flurry of smoke
Waiting anxiety
For a fair judgement deserved
This cover was soo exceptional. All i could feel was emotion and pure melody. outstanding.. i know requests probably come all the time. and weve heard alot of Damnation, Blackwater park, Still Life.. but theres one underrated Tune that no one ever covers or youll never ever here it.. and that is from the My Arms, Your Hearse album (my fav) The song Madrigal.. its sooo beutiful and so short yet underplayed and under covered.. its only 1:26. Please do it Ezeerian ! If anyone can you can :)
@ouced Thank you for your generous comments. They are an unbelievable band, glad that I didn't destroy your fav song for you.
Eezer
@forcebinder LOL...Lindgren was fantastic in this band. I suppose I share the same finger length, but I'd kill for his locks!!...lol. Thanks again forcebinder, I'm pleased that you enjoyed my cover of one of their greatest songs. More to come..just uploaded a series of videos explaining my version of "Face of Melinda". When you get time.
Eezer
could you upload more lessons. i would lover to learn this song. i figured out the intro just by watching you. but most of it is hard
Thanks for watching and commenting again, I like this version much better too, at least you can hear it without having to crank your speakers. CD would be nice too. Actually, if you wanted an MP3 I could email it to you. Sound is better on that, on rendering down for the video there is a significant audio loss. Pls let me know and I'll be right on it. BTW, did you get my tabs on Patterns in the Ivy I? Can't remember if I sent you those, if not I can email too, I'd just need your address.
Eezer
@eezerian Yes, Madrigal definetly is Haunting and Unusual :) thats why i love it so much.. it's definetly the black sheep of all the Mikael Acoustic melodies.. thanks for giving it more of a listen and definetly for trying to give it a shot.. that "delay" or w.e he does to it definetly is a hard part.. its the perfect intro into The Amen Corner.. which is such an amazing track.. if your interested i just did a Dual guitar cover of Demon of the Fall. if you would like to check it .
cheers Eezer!
15/10 J'aime ca..: Opeth: the Best Band
lensso song!!
@stereonpl11 thanks for commenting on my cover. Good luck with it, more from me to come very soon.
Eezer
@BlackRoseImmortal861 Hey, thanks for your comment on my cover. I'm glad you enjoyed it, I'd hate to ruin the original masterpiece. Took a liberty or two here and there but overall I'm pleased with the result. Thanks again
Eezer
AWESOME TONE ON ELECTRIC! :]
what programs do you use to record and what are your system specs?
I kinda like the two acoustics in the previous video just a little better instead of the electric/acoustic, but its still perfect in this. have you thought of putting a band together similar to this style?
Awesome work :)
I m a huge opeth fan..Love the way u play classical guitar :)
May i know which guitar processor u r using?
What can I say? :). I am a connoseur of fine music.
Do someone has the tabs? I really want to perform a cover like this one!
Hahahahahahaha !!!! THIS IS EPIC!!
@darkbarrage99 tone in the first lead*
WOW that was awesome i try to play it alone in my classic guitar but i cant :( i cant play the first and second part but i cant go ferther(i know its not spelled like this but i am greek and my english suck) anyways do you know where i can found the tabs? or a guitarpro5 file?

Thanks photophobia, I look forward to your version, please let me know when it is done. Thanks for watching.
Eezer
next time opeth's guitarist quits, i vote for you
yeah I'm in another place there. lol
Eezer
Please lensso this SONG!!!!!!
If akerson ever leaves the band you need to replace him! lol
Lesson, please!
great playing but trash sound quality, too much gain on the drums.. great one
