    “It has no power” - every person who has no knowledge of these cars, engines, the predecessor car, or how amazing the engineering is on these engines.
    This engine has won multiple awards and makes 100hp per liter, amazing for a 2.0 engine, and, at least at the time of release, was the highest output of any engine its size.
    A comparison? A V6 mustang with 2 extra pistons makes only 10 more bhp than the 4U-GSE/FA20 with 4 pistons.

      I respect you so much.The original ae86 was never made for high power it was always a low power light weight handling car. It was a fun little car and so is the gt86 and the brz aswell as the frs. As you said everyone who says it doesn’t have enough power doesn’t know the history of this car.

      What condition are the roads where you live? If you're in the US or Europe then you should be ok for coilovers. I own a '15 BRZ but because the roads here are like 30/70 potholes & bumps/good asphalt I went for adjustable swaybars, lowering spings and bilstein shocks. Ride is only slightly stiffer than stock and body roll is minimal. Actually, the handling was improved over stock when I'd only done the swaybars... and that doesn't affect ride quality at all. Also, everything worked out at less $$$ than a good set of coilovers. Just food for thought - its your baby, do what makes you happy. Peace.

    SUBARU knows the car is underpowered and it’s obviously on purpose. Just a point to note. The people who want the power the most will modify the car. That voids the warranty. Therefore Subaru/Toyota avoid all financial and reputation related culpability. Funny the people who need the warranty most void it right away.

    Why do headers but only an axle back exhaust and not a full exhaust system?

    • @ryansspeedlab5833
      @ryansspeedlab5833 4 года назад +1

      The exhaust on this car is stainless from the factory so it’s almost pointless to do a full exhaust. That being said the restriction points are the header and the axle back replacing those two pieces allows for much better flow. Overall there’s 5 pieces to the exhaust, the header, over pipe, front pipe, mid pipe, and rear muffler. It’s not worth replacing all the exhaust pieces for 800$ more than just the muffler and header.

  • @swedsmokey8013
    @swedsmokey8013 4 года назад

    Axleback gives you no horsepower gains but saves weight. that ul headers give more torq is a myth, the whole idea of headers is to even out the exhaust flow with equal length runners and reducing backflow pressure which gives better torq, unequal runners will have the opposite effect so put your money on a quality e,l header and a tune and get rid of that second cat and you get close to the 35 Hp gain.

    Please tell me the truth on this fa20 engine and all truth will come back to you in Christ I have a Jackson Racing Supercharger c30 Rotrex kit. about 8 to 9 PSI at red line can this engine handle this? The Supercharger is paid off spent 1.5 years to pay off hard earned money. It's not on now because of the valve spring recall engine running great for one year now. Should I put back on or get header and front pipe over pipe connected to my Catback take the lose and call it a day? Please give legit reason as to why or why not

    You know it's reviews like yours that made it to where the 2017 ended up with really shit gearing There are those of us that don't like driving at 65 miles an hour and having the tack already over 3000 rpms in 6th gear. The extra 5 horses just a placebo from them putting 456 gearing in the rear end.

    I had a 2013 BRZ did a stage 1 tune, didn't make any difference. Premium fuel for a car that gets 200 hp ? I traded it in for a 2008 Corvette. I wonder if the people who write these comments ever owned a BRZ and put @ least 5000 miles on it. After driving it 10,000 miles I learned how to really hate the BRZ. The shifting was not linear enough for me. A dog that has good handing, oh boy.

    BRZ look nice but there slow I'm sorry they are. They need to put the WRX engine in it don't know why it's so difficult for Subaru to make the most obvious choice.

      that's what he meant. they need to add a turbo from factory and this car will be perfect.

      @@mrharleytx6813 I think Subaru wants people to buy Subaru's don't think they care want model it is. As far as infringing on WRX sales , I doubt it cause there very different cars , one's AWD and the other is a RWD roadster, 4dr vs 2dr those a major differences.

      Car was co-developed with Toyota. I’m sure they have an agreement not to put a turbo in these vehicles.
      At this point, it doesn’t make sense to release a factory equipped turbo engine version. The next gen is supposed to be coming out in 2020 IIRC. They’re saying that one may end up with a 2.4l engine. Still no turbo but if they can get 200hp out of a 2.0l engine.....perhaps they can get 240hp out of a 2.4l one...
      The current STi has an engine rating of 310hp. The standard Wrx is at 268hp or something like that.
      The Honda accords now have an option for a detuned Type R engine and Camry’s have 300+hp engines.
      All the current gen wrx needs is a tune for more hp and if Subaru wants....a revised intake. Im sure the 2020 wrx will get a power bump...maybe up to 280-90hp range with the next gen STi getting 350+hp.
      It’ll be interesting to see what Subaru decides to do with their three performance cars.
