It really is a great game, but the minor imperfections and bugs can be quite frustrating. For me 2 biggest problems are: AI - like miners getting stupid and unable to find resources in places that are full of them, or capital ships doing suicide runs against enemy if not supervised correctly. Immersion: while creators had good idea with crew on the bridge, officers etc. I believe that part should be much bigger focus for them. I would love to see more varied capital ships bridges with crew that looks like they actually do something, more vocal responses to current situation and maybe some bigger variety in NPC's looks and ability to chose the uniform for your crew.
I was managing the logistics of constructing a shipyard and founding a new food/medical station while also establishing a defence/administartion station in a xenon sector and I stopped and realised it felt like I was working a shift..... I love the X games but they are a bit "spreadsheet manager simulator".
@@WildFable For me it was in reference to the navigating menus and matching numbers. So I had to work out how many resources I needed at each location and arrange pickup of resources from my station and delivery and subtracted what I have sent from what was needed so I can arrange more shipments. As I am using S and M trasders this is alot of deliveries. That is why is felt like spreadsheet manager to me.
@@miyelir ahh i do that but i go back to have a look and my memory sucks, ive had a stroke so im not the best but still never pulled out a spreadsheet for a game, i think if i had to i would not play it lol
@@WildFable Don't worry, we all have a stroke now and then. :P But for real, my memory is shot now too. Not from a stroke but from being hit in the head, just have trouble remembering things now.
Seen the logical overview, that's way too much micromanaging, especially if you have dozens of stations. You actually don't need to set a bunch of those rules. I made that mistake a long time ago. Learned a different method, I don't ever have to mess with that again. The biggest things that will keep X4 from being the best are, AI, late-stage lag, and a steep learning curve. Mod support is meh, with modding being very grueling as well. X4 is a decent 4X game though.
It is the best, it is also the most obnoxious to overcome it's UI. Played from X beyond the frontier till now and know how to deal with it, but it was such a struggle. It's worth it, but it turns many off. Keep with it and you should probably start to like it unless the only thing important to you is things going boom.
What X series need to be perfect now? Planetary exploration First person shooter mechanics Companion system More enemies How would this be to me? Planetary exploration "In Earth as in heaven..." Add the same gameplay loop for planets as to space, the difference is that on planets the economies should be about society / civilization. Planetary exploration should involved to be deeply connected with the FPS mechanics in other words the focus should be on raising armies, workforce, create leaders wich also would be deply connected with the companion mechanics. My suggestion is making classes For example, you would have 3 classes, workers, civilians, military This are essentially the 3 classes you have on X4 as types of ships miners (workers) traders (civilians) combat (military) What the player could do on planets? Build military outposts, garrisons command centers, cities, farms factories, mines, space ports... a good idea is give the possibility for the player build a custom home / base / hq, so the player have a place to call home, similar to the HQ in the main game, but instead of a massive structure, just a custom made base like on No Man's Sky (if it is to much work, just gave the option of the player build a pre made home). What else? Build factories for vehicles, an flying vehicles (I won't even dare ask for naval ships, but maybe in a Boron Dlc maybe?) Vehicles! Trucks, cars, bikes, tanks utility vehicles, helicopters, airplanes (or whatever, maybe even just utilize s and m spaceships in atmosphere. How this would play out? Theres 2 possibilities, one that the planetary mechanics would be seamless like NMS, this would add the possibility for orbital bombardment and things like that add ground invasion with aerial battles too... The other possibility is a two staged invasion, with an orbital strike to destroy space infrastructure and defenders p, and then launch a ground strike that WOULD play out like the first scenario, just not seamless. FPS combat Give me guns and ammo... From pirating ships, to assalt on space stations, to army conflicts to bar fights, FPS combat to solve everything that couldn't be solved with space ships. A leveling system even if a simple one would be nice too... Companion system... This would be trick, one one hand folks love well written companions, on the other hand this wouldn't make any sense in X4 since folks tend to get more empathy for npcs they ranked to zero to five stars than usual attempt of companions that ended up more like secondary characters who completely lose their relevance once their story arch end. My suggestion is making a medal system wich you will give to favorite npcs once you complete story missions, sort like an achievement for npcs, medal could grant some dialogues and some perks for the chosen npc. In other words you would build your own companions. More enemies X series needs more and more powerful enemies. The ka hak is a joke a the Xenon is just target practice, what about the concept of infection? A faction that tales what is yours and make theirs like the Flood in Halo or even the Reapers in Mass Effect? How infection would work? This could be done in two ways either through space combat or through FPS combat. The cool thing is you could add this feature even to the xenon or the ka hak
