Go to ground.news/lindy for breaking news on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Try it out or subscribe through my link before July 31 for 30% off unlimited access, minimising propaganda and media bias.
This is the first of a series of interviews with Brandon Mitchell, a Canadian-born man who has lived in Britain and Sweden, and has travelled the world. He volunteered to help the Ukrainians against the Russian invasion, and tell us his story.
In this fist interview, he deals mainly with why he went, which of necessity includes a summary of his life, and then he relates the complicated procedure, fraught with uncertainties, of leaving his old life, getting to Ukraine during a pandemic, finding the right people there, and making himself useful.

_"Early in life I had noticed that no event is ever correctly reported in a newspaper, but in Spain, for the first time, I saw newspaper reports which did not bear any relation to the facts, not even the relationship which is implied in an ordinary lie. I saw great battles reported where there had been no fighting, and complete silence where hundreds of men had been killed. I saw troops who had fought bravely denounced as cowards and traitors, and others who had never seen a shot fired hailed as the heroes of imaginary victories, and I saw newspapers in London retailing these lies and eager intellectuals building emotional superstructures over events that had never happened. I saw, in fact, history being written not in terms of what happened but of what ought to have happened according to various ‘party lines’."_

This interview is great, because it is so strong in showing how militaries and propagandists exploit vulnerable people.
This guy checks every box to become a victim of propaganda. Ex addict lost, no mother, poor and bankruptc financially, trying to find meaning in life, past levels of military brainwashing.
This interview reminds me so heavily of the people who become evangelical fanatics.
These predators always prey on the most vulnerable. Those who are spiritually lost, financially impoverished, et. al.
So sad. But this is real life. These are the victims of the elite using propaganda to fund meaningless proxy wars overseas. The west doesnt care how many of him die.
Like Lindsey Graham said, "We will fight until the very last Ukranian." Until every single one is dead. He just forgot to mention the tiny number of volunteers ending their lives in an inevitable loss too.

Lindy very rarely intervening, which makes for a complete picture of Brandon's story, allowing for details that are often decided by the host to be irrelevant or a bit far off topic, but it's often those details or anecdotes that transform an interview into something special, instead of just another interview... Great work Lindy! Looking forward to part 2! 👍(I may be slightly biased because I'm also a long-time Lindybeige watcher/subscriber... Most of the Russian history is wars, colonialism, fascism, murdering people, propaganda, genocides, linguocides, prisons. The colonial Russian Empire had issued like 130 laws, documents to forbid the Ukrainian language. The USSR was a colonial fascist country.
I think that would already be a sufficient piece of information you need to know about Russia. Their soldiers are brainwashed

What is a normal person? I and many others volunteer at the community gardens, where we grow food for the local food bank. We've got many volunteer groups of all ages doing FireSmart and trail maintenance in the area. We've got volunteer fire fighters, volunteer counselors, volunteer cooks, volunteer tutors, volunteer shelters, volunteer community managers... the list is much longer. There are hundreds of volunteers, at a minimum, in a town of 12K. Rent is high, jobs are few, and we help each other get through.
