  • Step-by-Step instructions on how to replace a Thermistor on a Whirlpool refrigerator. There are two thermistors in this refrigerator. One is located in the freezer compartment and the other is located in the main refrigerator compartment. The thermistors measure the air temperature inside the refrigerator and freezer compartments. The temperature from the sensor is then communicated to the main control board where it will then use that information to properly control the cooling cycles. If the thermistor fails it can cause the refrigerator to not cool properly and get too cold or not cold enough. The Thermistor shown in this video is Part # W10316760 (PD00006590) but the instructions in the video apply to many different part numbers and models of Whirlpool, Amana, Maytag, Jenn Air, and KitchenAid refrigerators.

    Thank you for the video, Just I have a question, I am a service technician I worked in a whirlpool refrigerator model WRF535SMBM00, the FF compartment was too cold ( freezing the food) I started replacing the thermistor, same problem, after that I replaced the damper and control board, ( same problem) I saw the damper opening and closing when I cold the thermistor down, so my question is this, I noticed the other whirlpool models comes with a white thermistor instead the metal one I’ve installed in the fridge,I know they are the same resistance valve but the material they were made can affect the sense of the resistance inside the fridge??? Thank you

    This is great but I cannot find the thermistor on my whirlpool WRS571CIDM00. Can you make a video on how to replace it on that fridge?

    I've got a fridge that isn't cooling great. Coils are clean, both fans are working properly, evaporator isn't iced, baffle opens as it should, control board triggers compressor/door etc. to operate/open as it should. About the only thing I can think of is the thermistor isn't reading quite right and is therefore isn't maintaining the correct temperatures. The issue I am having right now is that my model WRF535SMBM00 calls for a W10316760 on the Whirlpool website, however, it looks nothing like my current thermistor which looks like 12002355 which depending on which parts website you look at, says it fits my model fridge. These two thermistors appear to have completely different resistances so I'm hesitant on which one to buy. I am leaning towards the 12002355.

      @@PartsDr thanks. So I ended up doing some more testing and reading and the thermistor seems to be within spec of close to it. I ended up raising the fridge performance adjustment from 5 to 8 in service mode and it seems to be better. I haven’t seen many videos that discuss that.

      @@jacobmorissette2367 It is usually best to adjust the temperature settings in increments of 1 and wait 24 hours for the changes to take effect.

      @@PartsDr I’m not talking the temperature settings, I’m talking the adjustment settings in service mode.

    Is it possible that a fridge only has one thermistor located in the freezer compartment? My KitchenAid KFCP22EXMP1 is at least 6-8 degrees colder in the fridge compartment than the control is set for. I have it at the max 46 degrees or whatever it is and my thermometer reads 38, and items are freezing. I can see the thermistor cover in the freezer compartment, but there is nothing obvious anywhere in the fridge and the parts diagrams are less than precise when it comes to the thermistor locations. I'm guessing because the thermistor is likely part of one of the wiring harness assemblies.

      Yes, some models only have one thermistor located in the freezer compartment. The most common thing that causes that types of symptoms that you are describing is a bad damper control assembly partsdr.com/part/wpw10594329-damper-control-assembly?model=KFCP22EXMP1
      We have a video on replacing the damper here: ruclips.net/video/KwLu9IiOq4Q/видео.html

    i ordered a thermistor for my refrigerator whirlpool model # wrf736sdam14. part received w10316760. everything i can find says it is the correct part, including calling whirlpool. the issue is my original part is smaller and white. the replacement has a larger diameter and is a copper color. are these parts compatible and how would i remount the thermistor?

      If you are replacing the thermistor in the freezer section, it should be located in a similar place to the one shown in this video.

    what does the tempature control do if the thermistor controls tempature

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  Год назад

      The thermistor usually monitors the temperature and relays that information to a control board which uses that information to control the cooling components of the refrigerator.
