Nothing like December in shorts. Good to see the whiting are still at it. That pelican reminded me of when I took my son out pier fishing around the Carolina/ Kure beach area. Had some blues and Spanish laid out to clean, when ole Mr. Pelican came down, whacked my son on the head, grabbed a blue, and took off. Nobody was hurt except the fish, and my boy's bruised ego. Wish I'd have had video of it. Anyway, looked like you had a great time. Thanks for sharing.
Man whiting this size makes me think of early 2000's chesapeake croaker. Getting a decent family meal was a real simple thing, and you didn't need to chase the gamefish.
Can't wait to see this one, right after I finish watching the one im on now. You just landed the biggest black drum I've ever seen! Great channel right here!
Yeah, this year I was fishing a top water plug and a blue heron swooped down from the trees and got a hook straight through the bill. It was a pita unhooking a bird that big while it was flailing around.
Elias gives us a premium balance of offshore, inshore and surf. Every fisherman can take away knowledge from his channel. Own a boat, he's got you covered. Little boat? Plenty of inshore knowledge. Land based only? How much better does this get? Elias, thanks for a comprehensive content.
Great video. I was a lucky kid. I cut my teeth surf fishing while I waited for dad to take me to the bay for weakfish and flounder. Lucky indeed. We called those guys king fish in De. and they were great to eat.
I have seen your last videos fishing from the shores. It is amazing seeing you catching a lot of kings (whiteites). I am in Atlantic City, NJ and we don't have so many and the size you are catching down south. King fish (northern) has left our coasts since September. Besides, this fall season has been terribly slow up here. Everybody complains. We got some spots (those with black dot on the face) but other than that nothing. I enjoyed the video and your comments while fishing anyway. Using a whole frozen shrimp instead of a live one wouldn't have made a difference. I believe. Thank you.
I am out of the country right now. I enjoyed todays episode. That cobia was unreal. Even triger fish as a surprize. I will contact you when back home. I envy you for so many catches. Although you have invested so much, still are lucky having so many fish down south. Thanks for asking me to contact you. I will and still follow. May be one day I will drive and meet you personally. It’s not that far.
Dude, I fish the surf out here in Texas often and I’ve only caught one 14-15 inch Whiting once. I’ve just very recently have gotten into beach fishing and don’t see any whiting that big so frequently.
i do single hook only with my fish finders but i'm usually drum fishing in hatteras or Va. if im fishing a 2 hook rig im just tying a hi-lo pomano rig with weight on the bottom and they dont tangle
Nice trip, this has been a very good fall run so far. I found a local fish seasoning call Atkinson’s that’s really good on whiting, I add it to Corn flour or Moss’ breading, it’s phenomenal Bro.
Man Elias you always catch nice Kingfish (Whiting) up your way. We got scrawny little Whiting down here. Was looking to see if you had some Justin and Keys vids posted up. I'll check later.
Two questions on this one. 1) Where do you get live shrimp this time of year? Do you catch yourself or buy? 2) Ever have issues keeping shrimp on a hook when you have to cast far? I’ve sent a few flying before.
you can sometimes find them in shops now, they're a lot bigger than the dinky ones they have in the summer. You can also cast net them if you're so inclined though. Hook 'em in the hardest parts you can, nose or tail, and lob it, don't whip it. Good luck!
the pelican was hilarious surprise, lucky for both of you the hook came out in time lol , btw aren't skates good eating? i always see them sold as skate or ray wings , also the fish you catching are those not drums or croakers?
Bluefish tartar ... The "flying taxman" took his due ... or was it an "air shark"? Usually, they just grab the bait when your back's turned. ( glad he missed the hook ... could have been ugly )
So beach fun. You don't repair your reels? Most brands have replacement gears, drag washers etc. Then again, may be a full time job for you, with all the hours you put in!
Good whiting action. What's wrong with the Diawa BG? Did you take it apart? The folks at Diawa are nice to do business with. I had a Diawa Gold GS 3 that was a 1979 model, it needed a bail spring. They didn't have parts anymore specific for the reel, but they sent me a spring that worked, free of charge. They were amazed that the reel was still around.
In the case of my4500 BG the drag got destroyed. The carbon fiber washers literally turned to dust. Still like the brand. Caught a LOT of fish with it.
Replace the carbon fiber drag washers and apply any Teflon based grease to them, like Cals Universal Reel and Drag Grease or Mercury Marine Quick Silver 2-4-C marine grease. Apply a thin coat and work it in before installing the drag washers.
@@eddielikesfishing I Did buy some replacement washers (supposedly upgraded) and used some quality lithium grease as you said. It still works but the drag is not the same as the original. I blame it on hooking monster tarpon last fall while not targeting them (the reel was smoking like a chimney) BG's are serviceable and I do recommend them still.
@Jason Fulton Do NOT use lithium grease! Lithium based grease will cause the drag to get "catchy" and it will NOT be smooth. The grease must be Teflon based.
I see you using Toadfish rods quite a bit. Do you like them? Just bought one to replace my Shimano Scimitar, which blew out a rod guide after 2 years of coastal fishing in Florida (very disappointing, great rod).
Can you eat stingrays like with a cookie cutter and their wings I heard I used to live in California and fish off the beach there and I threw one back in the guy was like all them are good eating use a cookie cutter on their wings I'm like I didn't know that but what do you think

I love catching Whiting and cooking them up. I'm glad I decided to give them a try on a fishin trip some 30 years ago
I know you’re a fishing channel but i love your catch and cook videos because ur more realistic with how you cook and i would love to see more !!
Man whiting this size makes me think of early 2000's chesapeake croaker.
Getting a decent family meal was a real simple thing, and you didn't need to chase the gamefish.
Shameful those big croaker are so hard to find now.
@@EliasVFishing Aye. It's created more and more pressure on just about all the other species.
Never seen such a clean easy way to release Bluefish. I gotta try that method. 😂
The Pelican that ate your fish was so funny
I'm enjoying the surf fishing videos! Kinda cool seeing the pelican steal that blue fish!! God bless and keep you safe!👍
GOOD DAY AT THE BEACH. THOSE WERE SOME REALLY NICE WHITING...
As always, nice video! Looking forward to you and Justin in the Keyes.
I will watch every beach fishing video you put out. keep it coming!
Enjoyed the video! I especially enjoyed the unplanned pelican visit.
The less food the closer wildlife will get.
Live shrimp have been killing it at Sea View. Puffers on cut bait. So many puffers. My God.
Looked like that guy was having linebacker flashbacks and was about to truck you. Ha-ha!!!
Dang I could almost feel the sand on my feet.thanks for the vid. Nice Whittings.
Nice size whiting diffenetly keepers, and that Pompano was a bonus, I think whiting are one best tasting surf fish to catch 😋
Have caught some very nice mullet on live shrimp in the surf
Can't wait to see this one, right after I finish watching the one im on now. You just landed the biggest black drum I've ever seen! Great channel right here!
Pelican Pete! Happened to me in the keys....love it!
No matter the fish, who doesn’t love the sound of a drag going off… even a little drag.
Good thing that pelican didn’t get hooked. One time I was fishing topwater and a seagull plucked it out of the water and got itself hooked. Not fun.
Yeah, this year I was fishing a top water plug and a blue heron swooped down from the trees and got a hook straight through the bill. It was a pita unhooking a bird that big while it was flailing around.
Tough if you don’t eat skate, I like it.
@@MrEli204 same. Now when I fish top water, I look both ways, up and down before casting. Kinda like crossing the street so you don't get hit.
I hooked a pelican when I was fishing in Florida and it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had
Larcenous Pelican - LOL I have always referred to them as Kingfish here in MD. Nice class of Fish - 14" here in MD is a giant last few years.
Thank you for the fun.
I've caught plenty of 2 lb ish whiting on finger mullet, those things hit anything and everything
Love seeing more offshore content. Thanks.

Skate is actually fantastic. Far better than rays, although they're not bad either.

Man I wish I could get all them skates. I need some for my deep freezer
catch and cook on a skate! lets go
To bad, I was hoping to see you cook up a giant steaming bowl of Skate soup. Thanks for the video,
Nice capt ... but check out fishing with motorcycle mike... on long Island
Thanks man. Do the whiting stay all winter long?
Very Nice!!!
need some chefs working on them skates down in Wilmington
ok

Hi, very nice
That pelican scare anybody else?😆
Sensacional !!!
I'm wondering what would've happened if you picked up a paddletail or mirrodine for 30mins
I was trolling for blue fish and a seagull grabbed the lure I never realized how wide the wing span was when I unhooked it not fun at all
What rod reel combo are you using?
Nvm watched to the end of the video lol
You need to develop a appetite for some good skate meat. Lol
Awesome Comments!

Does that bluefish count as part of your limit :D ?
Tried Saturday up my way for an hour or 2. Not a bite. Moved 3 or 4 times. Replenished area tho.
Replenished beaches just aren’t easy fishing
woohoo elias!
Have you tried the mortician rig there are several RUclips videos on i
Haven’t tried it enough. Liking the river rig after a few mishaps.
Quality
If legal, skate catch, clean, and cook?
Dyk, a pelicans beak can hold more than its belican..
Which state are you fishing in?
Elias, great video! I live on Bald Head. Friend of Gerry. Let me know if you ever want to sell one of your old Hobies. BaldHeadBilly
I’ve got an extra Lightning Kayak hull Ii need to sell - you can purchase the Hobie drive for it separately and good to go
Maybe I missed it, what beach or what state?
NC

Rip BG.
Hey Elias, would you be interested in selling you Diawa BG? If so, let me know. Thx Paul

Poor man’s scallops. I think it’s pretty tasty if it’s cooked well.
lmao that fuckin pelican
What kind of skate is that. Looks like a ray, not a skate.
We still call them kingfish in New Jersey
