Thanks to everyone here watching the video! This has been a massive time commitment and I really feel it was worth it, appreciate all your support! How we feeling about the pop ups for move inputs and strengths/weaknesses? They weren’t part of the initial plan but I added them last minute which took a lot of effort but I think it makes things much more accessible for beginners :)
I have 600h in GGST. I've sat down and watched the entire video. I did not play a simple game while listening to the audio, I actually, fully watched it. That's rare enough for me to begin with, but the sheer fact that I only intended to watch the section for my mains (Potemkin and Faust) to see how you had presented them and ended up instead watching the entire video, swapping between different characters, just blows me away. Better yet, I actually learned some new things I hadn't even considered in my time playing the game. You've managed to convey all truly important information about every character in a reasonable timeframe while still giving them a nice long intro that just plays into their aesthetics and coolness factor, which is so very important for getting into a character for new players. I'm a bit speechless. Congratulations man, this is a truly top-tier learning resource. Thank you for your work.
I saw this comment screenshotted on X and came to watch it. I agree with the above. Well done video all around. Thanks for all the hard work! Looking forward to more videos and content.@@eddventure6214
I love GGST, it's just that it is almost impossible to learn imo. Idk why a developer can release a fighting game with no ingame frame data counter, when many other games like SF6, MK1 and Tekken all have them. Makes the game much harder to get into imo
Small note for anyone looking out to play may, the section about s dolphin being good on pressure is slightly outdated, with DRPS (dolphin rps) being nerfed two patches ago, meaning that her options are limited to defensive options or 5p/orca super on a hard read. Her comboes are also a pretty high bar, not only for beginners but advanced as well. However this was helped this patch with timings being less strict and she has better routes with h up dolphin being patched.
The pros/cons popups are really effective at reinforcing the points as you make them, and are excellent inclusions! As someone who has tried to get into Strive a number of times, the earlier entries in this series of guides were super helpful in giving me a good starting point, and the full video does *not* disappoint. Your editing skills have clearly improved a great deal, and everything you provided was equally concise and informative as an overview, especially for the time given in each section. Thank you so much for making these, it helped me take the plunge and get started on my fighting game journey.
Asuka cards don't reset each round. They reset when he hits 0.... That's why he currently has crazy test case 3 uptime despite having a "limited" resource
800 hours thinking nothing about this game can really get my intensely interested anymore, yet still you made a video that captured my interest all the way through. i love long ass videos like this
This is so crazy because I really wanted to get back into GGS and was wondering if someone had made a quick guide on how to "counter" every character, but I was worried if it was outdated, BUT it says posted 4 hours ago so again just crazy! Thanks for posting this
@@JB-xw1zq glad you liked it! I’ll let you know, an updated version of this vid is on the way within the month most likely, a new season just launched and a lot of characters were changed, so combos you see executed in this video may not work in your game, but the broad information provided is still mostly accurate. Hope you enjoy your time :)
A few things you missed are that: Nagos 623H (Shizuriyuki) has a few different properties, the first one 623H has upper-body invulnerability, acting as a sort of 6P, and its second part 623HH is now an overhead attack, making nagos mix VERY scary considering his ability to cancel any of his specials into other specials, meaning you can go from spin into shizu into either another spin for low-mid-low or press H twice and go for low-mid-high. for Goldlewis his security level also improves his "Burn it down" super by increasing the number of hits and distance travelled, (this one is quite important imo) Baikens tatami deletes almost all non super projectiles, the only exception i can think of are rams swords and Goldlewis' lvl2 and 3 drone, so its a decent tool for defending against projectile spam. Testament can still send their bird in the normal straight line even when the succubus is on the screen by holding down P after the 214 input, you can use this to catch opponents trying to jump over your succubus. (another less important thing, Bridget is trans, so don't be confused if people talking about her in older games use "he" instead of "she" c:) Otherwise this was an amazing video, I only clicked on it to check out what you had to say about my favourites but ended up watching the whole thing, and learinging a thing or two, aswell as wanting to learn characters I hate fighting/never really gave the chance. Keep up the good work king.
1:41:35 I think something worth mentioning for Bedman’s install is that all errors will still come out even if you’re hit if you use P call to force them out fast or when they come out naturally, meaning you can easily trick people into getting hit by the errors and if you’re close enough or have tension can combo off that and get your turn
Great video, I just wanted to point out 2 things about asuka that you missed, his mana regen is worst the more he is away from the opponent and his decks automatically reset after hitting zero during the round
I think you nailed just about everything on Ky! Honestly I think only thing worth noting is that throw reward is actually quite good midscreen and in corner Midscreen mostly cos of consistent safejumps/safe pressure as well as access to some hard to blockable crossups Corner, a really good, underrated option is empty jump 5K vs airdash back jH jD cos both can safejump, lead to full conversions and naturally 50/50 with not much leeway or any at all to fuzzy block if done correctly. I think it's mad good and kinda wild not many Ky players use it
This reminds me of the guilty bits series from back in the day. I remember trying to get into Xrd after picking it up at Total Biscuit's recommendation back then and finding those videos super helpful.
Well, based on just this video at least, I must say I think I'll be a May main. I really like the mobility and the animations are so clean. Chipp looks like he'd be really fun to play as well
I’m just getting into this game (bit late I know), and this is probably the highest quality content I’ve seen so far. Gives me a great idea of how the characters look and feel, along with a nice amount of technical info in what feels like a well-summarized way. Just what I needed
This video just came up at the right time. Thanks Eddventure, A friend and I recently got the game and were feeling a bit lost, specially without dedicated tutorials for each character unlike Blazblue... This helped a lot! I think I am vibing with Ramlethal so far, and this video just accentuated why so too (I need to get better at defense... that lower HP hurts my monkeh brain).
Another more niche thing to note about Bedman?: He actually has another special, 214K, that serves as a counterpart to 214P. It delays errors by resetting their timer, but this use is nearly useless because it’s high risk, low reward. Its primary use is to cancel out of moves with high endlag, especially 6H. It allows you to get combos and errors off of 6H from anywhere, which is pretty valuable.
Just getting back into GGST after a long break, and wow this video is everything I have been looking for and more regarding character overviews. It explains each of them well enough to outline their individual strengths and weaknesses while ensuring that viewers like myself find it easy to follow along without having to understand all the usual fighting game jargon. It perfectly compliments the guides Arc System Works put out on their channel, keep up the great work man! Leave it to a smaller/less known RUclipsr to make such awesome content 👌😎

Watching this video as a beginner, enjoying all of this amazing knowledge. Seeing how each characters amazing abilities and knowing for a fact that I will never be able to properly make use of most of them because I am complete ass at fighting games. Perfect.
The amount of characters here who I have so much interest in and can't play effectively sucks. This overview gave me a good basis on how to play them effectively, even though I'll need to form my own playstyle eventually. For example: Leo: Tried playing him a while ago. Got sent back to floor 4 again. I don't think I used back turn stance well enough. Nago: First character other than my mains to play, did not go well. Couldn't take advantage of his offense as I was too afraid of pumping the blood gauge. Chipp: His low health and heavy emphasis on mix ups makes him a bit too complex at the moment. Baiken: Currently trying, and it's not too bad. I have yet to play her in the tower, but I may have a new secondary. Goldlewis: Don't have him yet, but his mobility seems like a huge problem for me (even though I main Testament and should be a bit used to it). Jack-O: Don't have her yet either, but having to deal with 2 bars seems kinda difficult for me. Ky: Maybe he's just too "shoto" for me at the moment. He's cool, but I didn't really get far with him. These are the ones who I feel that I am missing something with. I do tend to play most characters the same when I first start playing them (bit of rushdown, yet careful) so it may be that I just don't adapt to the playstyle required for the character. However, maybe soon I'll be able to play whoever I want with at least a baseline skill. Cool video by the way, I really enjoyed it.
coolest looking game ever. If any game gets me into 2d fighters it'll probably be this one. thanks for the explanation of all these awesome characters!
@@z1u512 I didn’t feel it was core enough to his design to warrant adding to his runtime. Its not the first time I didn’t mention a special, Gunflame and Gunflame feint aren’t mentioned despite being pretty solid as an example
I'd say Asuka is making everything complicated, for both players. Both of you have to keep an eye on his mana & cards, he knows his cards but if you don't you're dead. If you do, then congrats, you're on equal ground.
I already play this game and have characters that I enjoy playing chosen (sin and axl) but this is still very fun to watch, a shame that I don’t think you added anything about axls new move as it is AMAZING as a defense and combo tool
I don't think you fully conveyed how busted Ramlethal's supers are. Mortobato has almost no wind-up, stupid amounts of damage, and a hitbox the size of Russia if you do it with both swords. Calvados does even more damage, partially negates blocking, and gives her both swords back.
