- A simple day in Hanoi, find and enjoy delicious street food.
Finally, i got my sticky rice fix. This bowl of sticky rice was absolutely loaded with decadent items. Braised pork belly, fried egg, vietnamese sausage, chinese sausage, pate, and finished off with a helping of the flavor packed broth.
Now, I love goose. I had it a lot when I was in hong kong. But I have never had goose like this. THis time packed with lemongrass, turmeric, and other spices, thrown on a hot plate and blasted with high heat and lots of oil. What an unreal meal and one of my favorites in hanoi.
Now to finish off this heavy day of eating with some banh tom. Fried prawn fritter, made with a sweet potato base for an earthly and subtle sweet touch. Along with some other fried little goodies, my stomach was now at full capacity for this day.

I use to have a Vietnamese friend i use to work with years ago, but he move away i haven't seen him since. But i remember the food he use to bring in that his wife use to cook it was amazing.

I can also taste Vietnamese food in abroad but it’s changed, not original anymore even we pay 5 time more expensive than cost in Vietnam . Can’t wait to go back. You also can eat all of vegetables. I don't know when you will be back to Saigon, but I just want to leave a recommendation in this video. If you crave for an authentic traditional Vietnamese meal, always go to Cuc Gach Quan in district 1. It's also a laid-back style restaurant. I know you might have visited before but I always recommend you to come here more than one time because the menu changes everyday. You don't get to choose the menu, you will eat random meal and you will eat what they serve you. It's more like eating in a Vietnamese household, Max. You eat what your Mom cook, that's the spirit of Cuc Gach Quan.

Super fantastic eats today, Max! Everything made me drool from the xoi to the goose dish to the banh tom (not sure why more people don't eat this more often as it's one of the most delicious things I tried as an adult since I wasn't introduced to it as a kid). I'm with you on the burnt parts in protein like the goose, it gives it extra flavor! And I'm glad you finally wrapped the fried stuff in lettuce and herbs before dunking it as you weren't doing that before. LOL!
