What often gets missed is the beauty and majesty of Blackmore’s compositional skills and sense of melody that allows Dio to apply his lyrics and wonderful vocals ….Catch the Rainbow, Rainbow Eyes…take the journey
as soon as the song ended I was saying Richie Richie Richie
Ritchie Blackmore top 3 guitarist in the world.
RICHIE BLACKMORE! Guitar LEGEND! The guy who wrote Smoke On The Water and all those classic Deep Purple songs! The band was originally called Richie Blackmore's Rainbow. When this came out most people had never heard of Dio. He's up there with the great guitarists of ALL TIME!
I knew without a doubt that Amber would love this song. Girl knows great music. Peace!
Amber really hit on the meaning of the song. Even now, after 45 years, I'm still mesmerised by this songs beauty.
From the same album, I would recommend Sixteenth century greensleeves and also Catch the rainbow and Man on the silver mountain
Man On the Silver Mountain is a true jam!
Yes yes yes!!!
One of my favorites!
This and stargazer are my favourite rainbow songs.
Hard to believe they haven't even done Stargazer or any of the videos off the legendary 1977 Munich concert.
Me too
Kill The King, Sixteenth Century Greensleeves, Long Live Rock n' Roll, Man On The Silver Mountain.....All great
@@jamesharper3933 When Amber hears this, she will be blown away by the Drum intro. Masterpiece.
Yay! My favorite Rainbow song! Finally! ❤🌈
This song never gets enough love. Stunning.
Since You've Been Gone and this song are my favourite songs of Rainbow.. Love it..❤
I forgot what was that dude's name
@@bill9605Graham Bonnett
You'll love 'I Surrender' - such a great hit back in the day for Rainbow.
Another Russ Ballard song!
This is one of my favorite Rainbow songs also . Amber if you want to hear another song like this try Catch The Rainbow by them. I love watching you guys
Ronnie's incredible range allowed him to sing both hard rock and softer ballads. For the former, you might like "Starstruck" and "Kill the King", and for the latter, I'd suggest "Catch the Rainbow".
Yes, "Kill the King" is a much better song than "Temple of the King", IMO. Also, "Long Live Rock and Roll"!
Kill the King is INSANE
I agree on 'Catch the Rainbow' - same vibe.
Rainbow got me into rock when I was 11years old. In the 70s
I'm still a fan.
If you want a fast banger song try " kill the king".
Or the live album Rainbow on stage .. try "still im sad"
Catch the Rainbow from On Stage is why God invented the Strat..
Both songs you mentioned are killers ,nice
Hearing those classics for the first time😂 f.. im old
Ritchie Blackmore top 3 guitarist in the world 🌎
Street of Dreams- Rainbow. J/A another
Awesome early 80s fun rock banger from rainbow. I would love to see you react to it in the future. Thanks for this great rainbow reaction., And thanks for keeping us entertained all these years.
You should do the Ranbow songs "Rainbow eyes" and "Catch the rainbow" if you like this one since they are also softer and showcase how soft and beautiful Dio could sing, he could sing both with an angelic voice and scream and do it at the highest level. For the song "Catch the rainbow" i can really recommend the live video from Munich in 1977 (great concert video overall with other songs as well) but the studio version is great as well but they are quite different also.
I second Stefan's suggestion. The Munich 1977 version is special
This is one of my favorite Rainbow songs. Check out Rainbow Eyes, Catch The Rainbow, Sixteenth Century Greensleeves, Stargazer, A Light In The Black and Man On A Silver Mountain.
Amber & Jay, here are some good Rainbow songs to react to: "Self Portrait", "Tarot Woman", "Stargazer", "Lady of the Lake", "Kill the King", and "Sensitive to Light".
Great reaction, Rainbow always has the power to suprise. This is why they have been one of my favourite bands for 45 years.
You must do the Rainbow song Catch The Rainbow.
And Rainbow Eyes ... Catch the Rainbow live from On Stage...the reason God invented the Strat
J & Amber, you'll love their "I Surrender" and "All Night Long"!!
I lived for a while in the town Ronnie was born and raised in.After his death, the town named a road after him.The name of the road is Dio Way.When I first moved there,I kept hearing people talking about this road.I had never seen the actual road signs,so when people talked about it,I thought they were saying D.O.A.,as in dead on arrival. When I actually drove on the road and saw that the name was Dio Way,I felt like an idiot.
Finally, back to some Rainbow 🌈 Great song. I was so glad you mentioned the guitar. It drives me crazy , I hear it all the time. Let's check out some more Dio with Rainbow. It was Ritchie Blackmore's band. That's why there was so many singers & musicians. When he got tired of them , they were gone. Hell the first album which is what songs from was called Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.
Ritchie Blackmore has always been my favorite guitarist. He's what drove Deep Purple. Don't get me wrong, always great musicians in both bands, but Blackmore drove those bands.
I can't believe you guys haven't done Stargazer yet. That is also with Dio. Also I think you guys would love Catch The Rainbow. Blackmore's playing & Ronnie's voice are just beautiful.
He is a Mount Rushmore guitarist easily top 3 in the world
The guitar on this song alone is what propelled Ritchie Blackmore to the top of my favorite guitarists of all time list, pretty much tied with Kim Thayil.
Ritchie Blackmore is on Guitar this was his band he was one of the best for sure!
Catch the Rainbow from the same album has similar vibe. I like it even more!
Loved seeing Rainbow back on the channel! I have 3 suggestions for you. 1. Rainbow with "Catch the Rainbow". 2. I'm going to ask you again. Haven't you reacted to Deep Purple's "Child in Time" yet? It's not often that I recommend a live version over the studio version. But I think you'll appreciate the musicians more when you see them playing their instruments. Their 1970 live performance on a British TV show almost sounds like the studio version anyway. And it's a killer song! 3. "The Rain Song" a great ballad by Led Zeppelin.
Man, this song still brings tears to my eyes and I've listened to it since 1980. I saw Rainbow in 1980, and I saw RJD with Black Sabbath in 1981. It must be said that every person who has ever met RJD (not me, but I've met quite a few celebs) has said that he was a gracious, kind human being. Nuff said, cheers.
Wow. Never thought I would see you 2 doing this song. So much great music the world never gets to hear. And this is one of them....... Wow. Great. Thx...
A such a totally underrated masterpiece just love this
Brilliant playing and composing by Ritchie in this one. Beautiful freaking song!
Mr Ronnie James Dio, saw him several times in concert. He put on great shows! Holy Diver and Last In Line are my 2 fav from him
You need to listen to the Black Sabbath's album "Heaven & Hell" Dio replaced Ozzie and the alchimy is amazing.
Songs like "Neon Knight", "Children Of The sea" and the title track "Heaven & Hell".
This one is my first lovest Englisg song...
I found the CD in my dad's collection, I fell in love with it.
Gotta check out Stargazer. Best Rainbow song. RIP Ronnie James Dio and Cozy Powell.
Catch the Rainbow is my favorite. It's got the same vibes as this song!
Rainbow albums first 3 with Ronnie Dio are pure masterpieces
Incomparable 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸👏👏👏👏👏
The Dio years with Rainbow is iconic
What many folks often miss are the wonderful and majestic composition skills from Blackmore which allow for those great Dio vocals to soar. It is that magic between Blackmore and Dio that is so rare in music ...check out Rainbow Eyes or Catch the Rainbow or the live version from On Stage - the reason God invented the Strat
Man on the silver Mountain!
One of the best Rainbow songs!
Great reaction guys! So many classic songs from this band, many as mentioned below, but for me it's that guitar that makes it every time! I'd love for you to be the first that I know of to do one of their instrumentals, such as "Weiss Heim" or "Maybe Next Time" - tracks where lyrics are never needed. Or, indeed, move into his latest band, Blackmore's Night and check out the likes of "Beyond the Sunset", "The Messenger" or his tribute to Jon Lord, "Carry On Jon" - they just get better and better!
Catch the Rainbow and Man on the Silver Mountain
is one of my fav Rainbow songs too ☺
This is my first time listening to Rainbow, nice.
Stargazer and Gates Of Babylon are two other outstanding songs by the Dio era Rainbow, with the always outstanding Ritchie Blackmore on guitar. A very underrated band in rock and roll history!
This IS called "Blackmore's Rainbow". Guitarist Blackmore from DP branches out a bit.
PLEASE LISTEN TO STARGAZER! it's a great song and I truly believe that Dio reaches the pinnacle of his amazing singint along with Blackmore's amazing playing!
One of the reasons why Rainbow is one of my favorite groups. Amber will love "Catch the Rainbow" and "Rainbow Eyes", two of the softer songs by Ronnie. Ritchie Blackmore mixes neo classical music so well into his songs. He is still doing similar songs with the group "Blackmore's Night" with his wife. Check out the song "Fires at Midnight"
Love this era of Rainbow ! Nice one guys 👏
If you haven’t done it already you should do Rainbow - Catch the Rainbow, if you really want your minds blown do the 18minute live version that is on youtube!
You really need to react to the Rainbow track, Catch The Rainbow. It's beautiful, and Ronnie's vocal exhibits such grace. It proves he wasn't just a heavy metal belter. He could go with the mellow flow too.
Rainbow Eyes shows off Dio's voice to perfection
Ritchie Blackmore is in my all time top 10 guitarists, to not only hear but see why, do any live Deep Purple in 1970 - 1974, a remarkable period of guitar at its best or any Live Rainbow in 1976 - 1980, more Ritchie at his best. California Jam 1974 would make modern listeners blow their minds! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
This 1975 song was an early indicator that Ritchie would wind up essentially as an acoustic solo player in recent years. The rest of the band is Ronnie's old band Elf, which had worked with Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover a couple of times (he produced their debut album), and Dio sang on Glover's 1974 solo album. That's how the connection to Blackmore was made.
Great Song, love the ending acoustic. 'Man On The Silver Mountain' from this same album would be nice next perhaps. I was going for Rainbow in the Dark next as well but you've heard that. Perhaps 'One Tin Soldier - The Original Caste' (1969)?
I have two suggestion's for your "Covers" reactions.
1. 'Deep Purple - Hey Joe' 7:25 >(Look for the one this long)
2. 'Eva Cassidy - Fields Of Gold' Search "Fields Of Gold (Live At Blues Alley)"
My opinion of course but I say both surpass the originals and these are the best ver.
Cheers.
Rainbow... I Surrender. Brilliant hit! 😎
I hope you both check out Dio as a member of Black Sabbath, after Ozzy was fired from Sabbath Dio stepped in. And delivered a series of powerful hard hitting tracks for them over the next 2 years. I highly recommend Heaven and Hell, Children Of The Sea, or Neon Knights....great hard rock classics.
Peace and love to all from your friendly neighbor from the north.....
🙏❤️😎🇨🇦
Catch the rainbow has got to be next
And now...CATCH THE RAINBOW
Great singer and songwriter!
I’ve never heard of this band before! Loved this song❤😊
What?
Deep Purple's Smoke On The Water has one of the most iconic riffs known. Most music stores have banned that riff because everybody uses it to test guitars.
Thanks for the correction.
@@Jims_Camera_at_dawn That's Deep Purple.
Check out the song "Catch the Rainbow" and "Rainbow Eyes" if you like softer ballads. They have some great songs that are harder as well.
How is that even possible
Ronnie was such a great story teller in his songs..boy miss him
Awww my favorite rainbow song
This is definitely one of my favorites, along with Gates of Babylon, Stargazer, and A Light in the Black (which is actually a sequel to Stargazer)
One of my favourite songs in the world as well, easily top 10. ❤
Ronnie left Rainbow and joined Black Sabbath. And let's not forget, Rainbow was Richie Blackmore's post-Deep Purple project.
Ritchie Blackmore is ressponsible for some truly iconic riffs. Love Rainbow & Deep Purple. I think you'd like a song from one of his other projects. "Ghost of a Rose" by Blackmore's Night (Ritchie and his wife) has a pretty unique style to it, almost like a fusion of 'medieval'/gothic rock, classical and folk.
Catch The Rainbow is a slower type of song, kind of similar to this one. I think you guys will enjoy that one also. And you might want to check out Rainbow Eyes. It’s a beautiful ballad that was actually performed at Ronnie’s celebration of life. If you want a real banger, check out Stargazer, with the legendary Cozy Powell on drums. Just in case you guys didn’t know, Ronnie replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath for a few years. You really need to listen to Sign of the Southern Cross. You guys are really going to love that one!
Now you got to react to his time on Black Sabbath. Heaven & Hell is a must.
Catch the Rainbow.
Rainbow Eyes.
LA Connection.
Gates Of Babylon.
Man On The Silver Mountain.
Favorite Rainbow song for me is Can't Happen Here.Banger song.
Love seeing people appreciate DIO 🤘 id recommend the song catch the rainbow
Rainbow is just freaking amazing in almost every single song they’ve done.
Id personally recommend “Starstruck” for the next Rainbow song
We saw him in concert a few times back in the day 😊Incredible memories..Oakcliffbaby
Classic Rainbow and rock track
Rainbows most rocking tune Power best riffs
I don’t get it why this song doesn’t get more reactions. It’s by far their best song. You should also react to Catch the Rainbow. It is also very chill and serene piece.
Check out Tarot Woman from their second album Rising. Phenomenal keyboard intro by Tony Carey. On the Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow album they had Mickey Lee Soule on keyboards
In honor of Richard Roundtree who played in the movie Shaft from back in the 1970s, and recently passed away, how about listening to The Theme from Shaft by Isaac Hayes.
Guys. If you want to hear Rainbow at their best you simply must listen to Stargazer and Light in the Black! Two absolute epic tracks!
YES!!!
Gates of Babylon is another epic worth checking out it's a mini Stargazer and has the same mystical Eastern rhythm and you must react to the wonderful Lost in Holywood
When you start reacting to a legend then show so much respect that you give the artist 90% of the screen. No one needs to see so much of you two guys. Greetings from germany.
Yes Rainbow, Yes Ronnie James Dio, RIP never be another like him. such an amazing artist.
You should react to Rainbow songs: Kill the King, Catch the Rainbow, Run With the Wolf, Stargazer and A light in The Black.
Beautiful....LOVED your reactions!!
A rare Ronnie James Dio ballad... He wasn't very keen on making ballads - he was more into the heavier side of rock & metal. But when he did 'dial down' and sing mellow, Dio sounded incredible 🤘🤘 "Catch the rainbow" by Rainbow is another slower song that he brought home...
Dio (the band) did have the odd ballad - 'This is your life' ... 'Between two hearts' ... 🔥
You should listen to his Doo Wap songs if you want to be blown away. "Blue Days, Blue Nights"
if i may, but i just interpret the following:
"There in the middle of the people he stands
Seeing, feeling
With just a wave of a strong right hand he's gone
To the temple of the king"
the story of star wars, atleast episode I-III
young anakin being "waved away" by the jedi council and off being the right hand of the Emperor (the King)
(since mando season 2 they even have a "tolling of a great black bell")
“ Stargazer”!!
It's great that you guys really appreciate Ronnie Dio. I'm not sure if you realize that Rainbow was formed by one of the British guitar heroes of the late 60s/early 70's - Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple. Ritchie has created so many famous guitar riffs. I would recommend Deep Purple "Mistreated" live 1974 in California (with "new" singer David Coverdale who later formed Whitesnake) and Rainbow's first ever single "Man on the Silver Mountain".
For me this song has always been the perfect symbiosis between Blackmores passion for medieval/ renaissance music and Dio's fantasy lyrics
Since you're on a Rainbow journey, fast forward to 1995 and listen to "Ariel" with Doogie White on vocals. Your minds will be blown...
Yes, Doogie era is forgotten. Keep it alive with this great song.
Dio upside down in script says devil. Ronnie James Dio was a choir boy and sings about spiritual stuff
ROB SQUAD, AMBER YOU WERE DEFINITELY THE STAR OF THIS REACTION!!! I LOVED THE WAY THAT YOU LOVED THIS SONG!!
YOU GUYS BOTH HAVE COME SO AMAZINGLY FAR IN YOUR MUSICAL JOURNEY!!!
❤❤❤🎉
was bummed bad u got me I thought this was temple of the dog! ...u got me!
Always been my favorite too. Try Catch the Rainbow
Spiritual, yes, that says it Amber. Nicely pointed out. And the bass (and drums) like you say, are a nice understated accompaniment. The only thing I wish was different in the song would be for a different set of lyrics for the 2nd verse, instead of repeating those of the first. Great choice of song, enjoyed your reeaction.
See the title makes me think of English band King Crimson's song, The Court of the Crimson King.
between his stints with rainbow and black sabbath, ronnie did guest vocals on two gospel songs by kerry livgren ---"mask of the great deceiver" and "live for the king"
kerry wrote the lyrics in such a way that ronnie didn't know what he was really singing about until after the recording was complete. the words sounded mystical and mysterious, which is exactly the vocal style ronnie gave them. unintentional brilliance.
Catch the rainbow 🌈 ma berceuse quand j'étais un jeune enfant
If you like Ritchie Blackmore on acoustic guitar, then check out "Soldier of Fortune" (Deep Purple) with David Coverdale on vocals
