First band I ever saw in concert back in 1977 just before Michael left. The visuals of Michael's black and white flying V & Pete Way's black and white striped suit is forever etched in my mind. I was only able to see them one other time on their reunion/final tour in the late 90's with the Strangers lineup. They played a small venue & did the set list from Strangers in the Night. It was like they had never broke up. Suggestions: Love To Love live from Strangers; Let It Roll, Pack It Up, Natural Thing & Mystery Train with Paul Chapman on guitar.

I'm glad to see bassist Pete Way - who sadly passed away in 2020 - getting some love - people tend to not see him in the shadow cast by guitar wizard Michael Schenker. I've seen him live with UFO, Fastway & Waysted - always in his striped spandex with the crotch slipping half way to his knees, always too drunk to stand & always a monster bass playing machine. Steve Harris of Iron Maiden adopted him as his spirit animal - it's where he gets his fashion sense & where Iron Maiden get their 'galloping bass' sound. A friend of mine got to briefly talk to him a reported back that he was both a warm, generous human being & as cool as a Polar Bear's genitals. Much missed - RIP Pete.

In 79 I asked if I could have a little play on his Thunderbird bass. To my astonishment he agreed. He looked very nervous as I had a go. Hell I can hardly play a note but I never forget that moment particularly when I see photographs of him with that T'Bird.

YES and finally!!! The great UFO, an amazing hard rock band from the 70s that has been a life long love affair for me. Heard this song for the first time in the car in 1974 on a college radio station, it blew our minds and immediately went looking for the album, Phenomenon. They just got Michael Schenker on guitar from the Scorpions and were off and running with a string of 5 legendary studio albums that influenced ALL heavy rock that followed. That era culminated in the Live masterpiece double album Strangers in the Night Live. You will find the best extended Rock Bottom on it, Schenker is immense and as good a guitar player as you have ever heard. Also from the live album do Lights Out and Love to Love but the whole album is classic. Great choice and about time! They also have 4 great albums with Paul Chapman taking over on guitar after Michael left to form MSG. You have TONS of great songs by UFO, MSG & the Scorpions to explore. Enjoy!!! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶

@@robhansen6370 Well ...Joe Elliot comments on why Obsession is in his top ten album list. "We’d yet to play a gig when we saw UFO, and they opened up with three brand new songs, which was very brave: Hot And Ready, Cherry, and (I think) Only You Can Rock Me. And then they went on to do more familiar material, and we were just gobsmacked. The dynamic on stage between Pete Way’s lunacy and Phil Mogg’s attention-grabbing stance in the middle, and then the mad German on the right with his bucket boots and Flying V.
"It was insanely brilliant. Steve Clarke turned around to me and said, “Right. That’s it. I’m leaving if we don’t start playing shows.” Because all we’d done was rehearse for nine months to try and become relatively good at what we did. That show - and that album - were a massive influence on us, because we were listening to the album all the way through the boating holiday.
"UFO were and still remain a major influence on us for all sorts of reasons. They were very British, and they had a sense of humour So with the greatest of respect to Never Mind The Bollocks and the first Clash album, I’m going with that one."

Michael Schenker greatest guitarist of our time. IMHO. Been his biggest fan since 14. He influenced everyone in Metal. Check out some MSG like the sexy Built For Comfort. He emotes, shreds, and rocks like nobody else 🤘🏼🥰

The thing I love about the old rock from this period is the dry mix they used on the production, Not too much reverb so that it's right up in your face! Like early Black Sabbath, early ZZ Top, early Grand Funk Railroad, etc, had that _nice clean dry_ sound.

A perfect representation of the late 60's, early 70's hard rock that was taking over our world. It was some of the best of the time. Music was changing so fast that it was hard to keep up. Just imagine the feeling of being stoned, having had a few drinks, most of your inhibitions gone, colored, flashing lights and dancing around the dance floor, not caring who's watching. This was the best time of my life.

    Excellent!!
UFO has 13 LIVE Albums but NONE of Them come close to “Strangers in the Night” which is a mix of Live Shows capturing the absolute MAGIC of the BAND, and, Guitarist Michael Schenker, formerly of the Scorpions and younger Brother of Rudolf Schenker of the Scorpions. Amazing Guitar work.
Every song is 100X Better and ROCKS HARDER on “Strangers in the Night”.
Try “Love to Love” or “Too Hot to Handle” from this album. 😜

This song was recorded or released in 1974 but I don’t remember it until a few yrs after that. I was listening to this just now when my husband wandered into the room, brushing his teeth, and I asked "Remember this one?" He nodded his head and mumbled "...where do we go from here..." LOL First song i remember of theirs is Love to Love, from 1977 when my husband and I first met as teens. That one has great lyrics & brings me many sentimental memories. Maybe you can give it a listen soon.
    Blessings ❤

In fact it may be the greatest live hard rock album of alltime.
Micheal Schenker may arguably be one of the greatest guitar players that ever existed and bassist Pete Way is arguably top ten of alltime.

This is one of those rare songs for which the live version might almost be better.......their album "Strangers In The Night" is one of the greatest live albums ever released!

I agree with all the comments about this being one of the greatest and definitely underrated bands.
What I haven’t seen are comments about them being a great influence to Iron Maiden. In fact, Maiden plays their song Doctor, Doctor at everyone of their concerts just before they take the stage.
Please do react to Doctor Doctor, Lights Out, Love to Lobe to begin with. For a smoother sound, check out Try Me and Along Again Or.

UFO is from the UK & Schenker I think is the only German guy in the band and probably by far the most well-known, but overall a really good band. I play guitar myself. Live in North Carolina.

I saw UFO live at the Camden Roundhouse in London, June 12th 1977. It was a triple header with Nutz, Trapeze and UFO, started at 05:30pm and ended at some time after 11:00 and the ticket cost just £1.50 (about 2.8 USD at the time). Michael Schenker on guitar, the beautiful girl on my arm and the amazing atmosphere made this gig one of the best I ever attended! Thanks for the clip but think about some live tracks from the “Strangers in the night” album - maybe 'Love to Love' for a softer feel.
