Fabulous YT vid. Clear. Concise. Informative. Yup, i have Ks of images all in folders but without keywords or truly a hierarchical structure. i was looking at PM or Adobe's Bridge as a possible first step solution. If I may ask, do you also employ PM Plus which has the library/DAM? Again, thanks for the effort and the sharing. If you are ever in NYC, I owe you coffee! Thumbs up.

I had hundreds of thousands of images in Lightroom that did not have sufficient keywords prior to me using PM. I went through a few folders a day adding keywords until I had worked through my entire library. It takes time, but PM is the perfect tool for doing that.
Yes, I use PM Plus and add the images into the catalogue. I use Lightroom, which has its own catalogue, but PM Plus is much, much faster and more granular.

Brand new to PM. My folder structure on my storage disk is exactly like yours. I hace Pm set up like you have suggested. My question is how exactly are you getting the photos into the folder structure on the storage disk so that light room will always know where they are?

When you import into LR, LR will store the images in the destination you specify. If I want to maintain the folder/subfolder structure, I specify “into original folders” in the LR import dialog.

Some very helpful videos on your channel. One question - did I miss something or do you only keep your images on Dropbox? I can't believe that's the case but I'd very nervous about doing that without a local backup?

Dropbox can synchronize files between local storage and the cloud. When I ingest images to my laptop, I ingest to my internal SSD. The destination folder is defined as a Dropbox folder, which then synchs to the cloud. So the files are on my local drive AND the cloud. Redundancy is a good thing.

Wow, watching this on a 46” TV and the text is still microscopic. lol. Anyway, good info & I get the point and some good ideas.

I recorded the video in 4K. I tested that it plays back in 4K. I cannot change the size of the PM windows. It shows well on my 27" monitor. Not sure why it would be microscopic on your 46" tv.

Do you know how i can filter in the navigator only showing CR3 files?

    • @jeffvoganphotography

I don't know of a way to show ONLY CR3 files, but you could create a Custom Sort using the {type} variable. That would group the CR3 files together.

I will have to think about that. I can’t think of a way to do that off the top of my head.

It can be done with Exiftool, a commandline tool, but you'd have to ask at their forums, it's very active and helpful. Just Google for it.

You could add the {folder} variable and then evaluate the template and it should replace the variable with the folder name.
