- Most of the people invited weren't coming to a birthday party for Christian Larsen, a 9-year-old Meridian boy with autism. Only one girl had sent in an RSVP. Then the Nampa Football team stepped in.

His attitude is on a level most adults will never be on.
I think the kid is just transparent with no filter and real nice positive attitude. As we grow older we tend to be mindful of what other might think so we tend to have this facade whether we like it or not.

To bad one day he'll be one of those miserable adults in the real miserable world.

Thats a fine set of young men, as a father I cannot express how proud I am of them and the degree of swelling in my heart. Also, let us not forget the one girl who came going against the grain of the rest of the class. She has a little heart of gold as well.

I can tell that you love your Mom and that she is very special! She loves you SO much and the guys that came to your party obviously think you are awesome! I do too! I am glad you had a special surprise on your birthday and hope that you have a very exciting life, with lots of science discoveries! I also hope that you will remember every day to tell your special Mom that she IS special and that you love her! I hope you go to a football game to support your friends on the team, I am sure they would love to have you there to root them on! You are a good kid and I believe you will grow into a very good man!

My youngest Son has Autism, and it’s a sad fact that special kids rarely get the same amount of party invitations that normal kids do.
Because nobody wants to handle a kid who could have a meltdown or in my nephews case be wild and uncontrollable and you can't control them like normal kids

Hey your lucky too have a special kids i.care for downs syndrome kids and they are the world of caring and compassion
I mean if they are truly friends with your kid they will show up, but the problem with school is sometimes they partner kids up and the other kid thinks they became friends but really the other kid is just being nice

Great coach, and a great football team no doubt. It strikes me that Ms. Larsen also has a very good friend who was there for her and knew what to do, despite being separated by a considerable distance. Nice job Blythe!
Happy birthday, Christian! I'm like your mom as this made me cry too. I have a big boy who is 18 and just graduated from high school. He had difficulties early on due to mild autism, but he ended up making a ton of great friends in high school and plans to go to an art college since art and graphic art is his passion. You have a great mom and you seem like a great kid who knows how to give her love and support.

i was in a integrated class in 3rd grade and didn't really know anyone because some didn't speak english or had severe learning disability . then one day i met a kid name aden in my computer lab class and we became the best of friends all the way up til middle school . i knew he was always a shy kid and had bad angry problems , but i thought nothing of it i'd always just seen him as a troubled kid like me until years later when my niece was born . i finally learned what autism was because my niece had a rare for of autism called apraxia which is basically the inability to perform familiar actions on command , even though they understand what your saying and and there is a willingness to perform the movement . my mom eventually told me my grade school friend was autistic and i never even knew it was like a discovery to me that someone i was so close with could be carrying such a a heavy weigh on his shoulder and me not even know .
Okay, but Christian is an awesome kid. "God made everyone special" and "I've had a lot of best days of my life...and this might be one of them"

He is such an adorable kid! "Let the tears out Mom", that was so precious. What a great coach, that was so kind and it's a great lesson for his players who seem to be pretty great kids as well!

My foster baby has autism, he is no longer with me. Because the parent's were able to have him back. But I miss him everyday, and this warms my heart. It made me cry but it's worth it to see what so many people would do for a baby like mine.
A science birthday party, even with periodic table themed sign. How awesome is that? I wish I was invited.

When I was a kid this friend of mine had a birthday party. He invited quite a few people and I was the only one who showed up. Spent the whole day together and just had fun

This kid is WISE BEYOND HIS YEARS. Clearly, a very positive kid. Hope others can see passed whatever made them uncomfortable and realize what a great kid he is. I think most of us if not all of us just wanna feel special. Cudos to the coaches and team for this little act of kindness. We need more of this in the world.

Two years ago there was alittle boy in my daughters class his mother called me and said no one will come to his birthday party so he just askked of he can come over and play with your daughter so he doesnt have to ait alone on his birthday.... So his mother dropped him off we took him to a carnival gave him presenta took him to dinner and gave him a cake.... I say this not to draw attention to myself but to the kindness that can be shown just by showing up these boys were raised right and it made a difference

How cute! I’ve had a lot of best days! Awesome team! So sweet to make that child so happy. I’m still smiling. Loved what Christian said to his mom about crying. You are a truly blessed mom to have such a loving child. I hope other parents have learned a valuable lesson. Christian now has a football team worth of big brothers who, under the football uniforms, are really heroes!!

As an adult I was diagnosed with ASD. I too remember how as a kid I was out casted by kids and especially my family during (others and my) birthday parties and other (fun) celebrations. I spent too may yrs crying and being bullied by everyone especially family. Pain still hurts but now I stick with my animals. They will never hurt me like others. They ain't ashamed to be around me and they love me unconditionally for who I am.
I dont wanna cry either but one or 2 years of joy MIGHT have squeezed their way out! Way to go guys!
