      There's no real proof that he intended to kidnap the child. I know he probably did but our justice system is innocent until proven guilty and the right defense would be able to get him acquitted if they did bring it to trial because of the lack of evidence. If he was acquitted, legally the police would have to leave him alone, which would leave him free to go after another child. By not taking him to trial, the police are still able to monitor him and wait until they have irrefutable evidence (like watching him attempt to lure another child or finding child p*rn on his computer) to make their move.

    • @NurseNick420
      @NurseNick420 8 лет назад +7

      MasterKookien Actually there was a crime committed - luring. He lured the child into going with him which is completely illegal. Most children are very intimidated by strangers talking to them when their parents aren't around because their parents have taught them to be scared of strangers which is good. I remember when I was in 2nd grade, 8 years old and we went on a field trip. My class was having our lunch and I had to throw something in the garbage so I went a few feet away from our table to the garbage cans which were out of sight of my chaperon. This guy was there with some kids and asked me if I wanted to dance. I know that might sound weird and funny to some but it was terrifying for me. I said "No!" and ran back to my table. I never said a word to my chaperon throughout the rest of the trip nor did that guy follow me around. I'm 15 now and looking back on it kinda scares me. I often wondered if those kids were his own or did he kidnap them...

    • @davisutton1
      @davisutton1 8 лет назад +3

      +DragonflyAnaGuy I think teaching fear is a bad starting point. However, it's ok to be wary of a middle-aged man asking an 8 year old girl or boy to dance. It's hard to construct a scenario in which this is not odd and disturbing, unless that adult is the father of the kid. Part of the problem with teaching fear, and that very much is what it is, is that kids tend to invent features of the prospective monsters that are caricatures of actual abductors/paedophiles. In this way the apparent very normalness of these people can render children blind to very real dangers. More than this it exaggerates the magnitude of the problem.

      I agree. Some states have laws against "annoying" children and you can be arrested for doing it. Following a child, ordering them to go with you or telling them to get in your car can get you arrested. If the state where this happened does not have such a law they definitely need it. It helps get these shitbags a record so that fingerprints and pictures will be on file.

    This is such a wonderful story because the little boy now has the protection of an entire team of old boys, of saviors who are "men" to him, to counteract the trauma of the middle aged creep who tried to take him. The fact that these high school boys gathered around him automatically decreases the lasting trauma of this incident.

    These football players are like my big brother, he was my guardian growing up and he never let me out of his sight. When he'd come get me at school, he always got there half an hour before I got out, would come into the school and wait until we were let out, he'd scoop me up and carry me to his truck, put me in my booster seat and off we went. And my big brother was 19 when I was in kindergarten at the age of 5.

      I was young once. I knew boys like this. They were not horrible people. They would have saved you if you were drowning. They wouldn't have murdered you or beat you up too bad. However they were smart asses and talked a lot of shit. They played a lot of emotional mind games with certain people and were very cliquish. They turned out okay, but when they were young they had their flaws. That is all I'm saying here. They seems like good kids, but not as good as they are trying to come off.
