    Thank you for the 6 year update. And now, 5 years after that, I am scheduled for ACDF in about 6 weeks. I'm glad you posted all those years ago - thank you again!

    Thank you so much for this follow-up. I just watched your other vid from ~6 years ago. My surgery will be scheduled in the next few wks. I’ve never had surgery. I’m a nervous wreck but you answered several of my questions regarding post op recovery. You look wonderful as well. Thank you.

    Hi Cassie, I watched your first day from hospital video and this video, Its great to see your recovery. How are you doing now? Even I was recently diagnosed with herniated disc about a month back, and was wondering if I should take the surgery route. Wanted to ask what made you decide on the surgery, and during the 3 months before your diagnosis to surgery, did your symptoms of numbness and weakness in your hands get progressively worse during these 3 months or was it nearly the same? Also how bad were these weakness and numbness compared to your current, was trying to understand whats the % of reduction in numbness/weakness post surgery, if at all you could put a number like that based on your experience? I have spinal compression but one episode of acute pain (thats when the diagnosis happened) and since then just slight pain on my right arm and upper back but no numbness/weakness yet. Have been wondering whether to wait and see and how long. Would love to know how you are doing now. :-)

    This was very helpful! May I ask how long it was from the time you had symptoms until you had the surgery? My biggest discomfort is numbness and weakness in my left arm and hand, and loss of dexterity. At this point for me it has been about 4 months - have tried quite a few things with no change. My biggest concern is permanent damage if I leave it too long. Dr doesn’t seem to think this is too big a deal, but I can’t imagine letting it go is a good thing. Thank you again for the informative videos!

      9 months of symptoms for me. Pain left side of neck, upper back (rhomboid area) and pain radiates from left shoulder to whole arm to pinky finger and ring finger. Took long because my doctor did neck xray and said it was osteo arthritis not satisfied went to an orthopedic doctor says severe rhomboid strain and asked if i want steroid shot. I change primary doctor and once he found out it was going on for 9 months now he told me to get an MRI. Referred to a Ortho Spine Center and diagnosed with cervical Radiculopathy and some bone spurs on 4 levels. I had to have ACDF surgery on 4 levels (c3-T1) stayed in hospital for 3 nights and on hard collar for 3 weeks then switch to soft collar for 2 weeks. All pain gone and on the road to recovery, light PT and OT for mobility and strengthen muscles (light rehab since i'm not fully fused yet). It's a gradual recovery, takes time once fully fused (9 months for me) my ortho surgeon lifted restrictions and i workout more to strengthen muscle on my back and left arm. 3 years later i'm 80% better! I have slight numbness on my left finger and thumb due to compressed nerve damage i am used to it now. Got my life back, glad i had the surgery wish it was sooner. I joined StrecthLab to improve my mobility and improve muscle stiffness.

    Thanks for your continuous updates. It's awesome to hear everything is going fine. I recently did the same surgery and now a month in. I still wear the C collar but have nt started therapy. How soon after surgery did u start therapy?

    • @fiercekitten13
      @fiercekitten13  6 лет назад +1

      I had actually used up almost all of my PT benefits on my insurance before my surgery in an effort to avoid surgery. I did very minimal PT after surgery. I think it was about a month post op that I did some minor therapy. I mostly did deep tissue massage and ART chiropractic therapies. My PT gave me some exercises to do on my own after surgery and I waited about a month for those too.

      The surgeon told me I should just wait on body to heal before doing any PT. The car accident I was in, occurred in October and he's recommending PT in January.
      As for the scar, I took off the bandage yesterday and I'm quite happy with what the scar looks like at the moment, 6wks after surgery. I will be using Mederma scar healing cream on it.
      Did you do MRI scans post surgery with the titanium plate and screws?
      Can you describe the PT exercises u did at home if you remember them? Or make a vid? ;)
      I'm living in the Caribbean islands and since you're completely healed I really appreciate getting any info from you as care is much better in the larger countries. Thanks!

    Hi i see you uploaded this video years ago. Hopefully you see my msg.. how long did you wait after this initial herniation to have the surgery? Its been just under 3 months for me. I have surgery scheduled for the 21st of this month. Left pointer finger very numb and weakness left arm. Im healing some so wondering if I should still get it done.. thank you!!😊

    • @fiercekitten13
      @fiercekitten13  2 года назад

      I did not wait long to do the surgery because I have numbness and weakness as well. I was told that wasn’t going to resolve on its own so there was probably about a three months gap. It’s now been 10 years since surgery and I still have a very slight amount of numbness in the finger but I have gotten used to it.

      Hi Ashley. It’s been just over nine years since this surgery and I am doing great. I have no issues with it anymore. About four years after that surgery I got pregnant with twins and had a very comfortable and normal pregnancy and birth. I actually started trying to get pregnant about a year later but it took us a few years to be successful. I wish you the very best for a speedy recovery.
