I was waiting for this and this is gonna be fun as a Montreal fan (this is literally one of the best Power plays in recent years verse the best penalty kill ever)
To be fair, while the Habs PK has been fantastic, in the last round you were up against a Steve Spott run PP. On the Sharks forums we always complained about how terrible it was run and someone was telling me they had seen a bunch of complaints about it in the Vegas forums as well. 17.8% PP in the regular season, They went 4 for 43 through 3 rounds of the playoffs (9.3%) Even if we remove the 15 failed PP's against the Habs they were 14.3% through the 1st 2 rounds which is not good. Again, this isn't to take away from the fact that the Habs have done great, they absolutely have. I honestly just hate Vegas so I prefer to focus on what they suck at rather than giving full credit to their opponents for their contributions to how terrible it is.
@@jonmendelson1104 you’re literally what everyone makes an example of in the media, never give credit to the other team just say that the other one was bad. The entire hockey World is making fun of you just to let you know
@@slipperynodd578 Uh, I was giving credit to the Habs. 2 things can be true at once. The Habs PK can be fantastic and the Knights' PP can be shit. Edit: To clarify the main reason I made the comment is because you said "the best penalty kill ever." The '04 Wings and the '19 Stars had better PK percentages but fewer SHG. It's been fantastic but I'd argue that the title of best PK ever should factor in quality of competition and going against a shitty PP costs a few points on that. If you'd qualified it like you did with the Lightning's success rate I probably wouldn't have said anything.
@@slipperynodd578 Yes, I'm taking away SOME of the credit. Enough that I don't believe they qualify as the best PK ever because quality of competition is important to deciding what the best ever is. If, like you said with Tampa's PP, you'd said "one of the best power plays in recent years" then I wouldn't have said anything. In pretty much any discussion of the greatest of all time people will point out details that might have contributed. "This guy's great but look at the people he played with compared to the guy you think's better." "You need to factor in the era, if that guy was playing today his numbers would be way worse." You opened the door for counterarguments by calling the Habs' PK the GOAT.
I'd say its actually pretty close this year. All 4 teams in the conference finals for the NBA haven't won or have never won in the past 50 years... a championship. Plus the Lakers got knocked out. Praise the gods above.
Congrats to the Lightning on winning the Stanley Cup twice in a row. For the love of all that is holy let my reverse jinx counter Tree's jinxing just now. Edit: Fuck
Yeah, I still think the Islanders did well, it's just that the Lightning has been at this deep playoff run thing for quite a few years now. Montreal though? Seems any time they make the Stanley Cup Finals, it's out of nowhere (1986, 1993; definitely been dry two & a half decades for the league's all-time franchise), but this time it's REALLY out of nowhere (those '86 & '93 Canadian editions were good, but still more of a darkhorse).
As a Bruins fan, when Bruce was saying the penalty calls were balanced in NY's favor, I was like "yeah, so if they're calling you more, maybe STOP DOING SHIT THAT THEY'LL CALL"
His point wasn't that the Bruins were being overpenalized, more that the Islanders were being underpenalized. Two teams were committing the same penalties but only one was getting called for them. Obviously that doesn't change the fact that yeah, they should have committed fewer penalties, as well as several things outside Bruce's control (lack of scoring depth, a defense that's basically McAvoy and five turnover specialists, trainers clearing Tuukka to play with a torn labrum, etc.).
Man I love playoff hockey hopefully next year we can have full arenas right from the get go. Nassau was the loudest I've heard it in my life only the Game 1 at MSG (before the Knicks lost) could match that volume. Wish the Islanders were in the cup.

As a Preds fan, I can relate. Unfortunately he still picked the Habs to win so the Lightning will probably repeat anyway.

HIGHLIGHT OF MY DAY. EVERY YEAR
2015: muh the Blackhawks were just using the rules
2021: waaaaah the lighting are no good cheaters
just goes to show that they don't care about the rules, but they just hate seeing a southern team with a bigger fanbase than theirs
Disagreed with it back then too. But at least Kane played during the season and wasn't practicing for weeks before the playoffs.
@@heroesofthescape 2015 was a full season though. 2021 was nearly 30 games shorter. Even a small injury this season could become season long. Can't compare Kucherov not playing this year
This is exactly what I've been saying about the cap situation. Everyone told Tampa to stop crying about the Patrick Kane case, now they do the exact same thing and everyone else cries. The whole thing is hilarious
@@danielhundley9348 you’re right, it was much shorter. Any other season TB would have had to shed that 17 million in cap space to bring players back. TB took advantage of the cap and shorter season loopholes to get away with boarder line salary cap manipulation.
I love the ride the lightning backing track for the Tampa Bay lightning
The Habs in 6......................................... I don't think so, Lightning indeed does strike twice.
Wow. I thought Tree was gonna be late with this, but he ended up being JUST in time. Impressive. Now to quickly watch through this vid before Game 1 starts.
As a Sharks fan, I’m just waiting for the draft to begin.
The Giants being fun again along with the Niners looking promising if healthy is numbing that pain for me.
@@theycallmejojo6090 I’m a 49ers, SF Giants, Sacramento Kings, and Sharks fan.
Half my teams are semi-rebuilding while half my teams are great or promising right now….which is a LOT better than how things were three years ago
Sharks Fan here as well
I’m not expecting the Sharks in the playoffs again until later this decade 😭😭
I'm an LA Kings fan. I'm pretty much in the same boat, though I wanna see Montreal win for Toffoli (yes I know Perry is there. You win some, you lose some)
@@jacksonporter6743 I think we’ll get a better picture of where we stand during next season - sharks fan
@@jonmendelson1104 you literally said not to take it away from Montreal and then took it away from Montreal
"This guy's great but look at the people he played with compared to the guy you think's better." "You need to factor in the era, if that guy was playing today his numbers would be way worse."
You opened the door for counterarguments by calling the Habs' PK the GOAT.
Stanley Cup playoffs > NBA playoffs
No question
@@yourboyjake1219 no shit every superstar was injured this year
I'd say its actually pretty close this year. All 4 teams in the conference finals for the NBA haven't won or have never won in the past 50 years... a championship. Plus the Lakers got knocked out. Praise the gods above.

"CONGRATULATIONS YOUR TEAM STILL CAN'T GET PAST THE FIRST ROUND" (insert let alone the second to rub salt in) - Becoming a yearly occurrence.
I love these every year
Yeah, I still think the Islanders did well, it's just that the Lightning has been at this deep playoff run thing for quite a few years now.
Obviously that doesn't change the fact that yeah, they should have committed fewer penalties, as well as several things outside Bruce's control (lack of scoring depth, a defense that's basically McAvoy and five turnover specialists, trainers clearing Tuukka to play with a torn labrum, etc.).
did you get picked yet 🥺🥺
It's funny when dirty teams point their fingers at one another like a Spiderman meme.
